That Vegas trade might be the worst trade I've seen on this site.

Potential options
I think you're a little high and long on Butcher, I think 4 x $4.25ish is more realistic – shift some of that money to Hall and this looks like a solid projection.
I'm also not against bringing Greene back at a lower term if he's into it, great leadership as a bottom-pairing guy.

what marner is really worth
Devils would probably prefer a goalie with AHL eligibility, unless they plan on sending Blackwood down for more playing time.

This is the correct answer.

Whats the Point of getting Duchene
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HabsForEver</b></div><div>Duchene + 4 first rounds picks + not giving someone 14 MILLION</div></div>
He's only giving him $10.25, which is similar value to Duchene. The $14m is the offer sheet calculation because it's a 7-year offer, split into 5.

Yeah, pretty sure I would rather have Duchene and four first round picks.

It's a good team on paper, but there's not enough cap room left next year for Hall, Hischier, Blackwood, and 4 additional players.

Year 2
I like the team, but I think you're too low on Hischier, Bratt and Blackwood. I think they'll combine for $14m – $7m, $4m, $3m respectively.
BUT I think you'll save money on goaltending because Blackwood is going to be the guy.

Could Shero Get Marner
I'm not giving all that up if I'm the Devils. Maybe a top-10 protected 1st, or a 2021 2nd, but beyond all of the hype from the draft I'm not convinced this is going to be a playoff team right away next year.
The offer-sheet argument from TOR fans is that 4 first round picks would get you a greater return than keeping Marner – I feel the same way about this deal. The individual pieces of this deal would net a much greater return than "just Marner" if traded separately.

Need Cap Space
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Missouri</b></div><div>Cheaper dman, cheaper 4th or 3rd line guy and a pick depending how good those players are.
Maybe:
:devils
Stefan Noesen - Not to shabby but not great.
Mirco Mueller - Decent 3rd line dman for us.
1st rd pick - Evens out value.
:goldenknights
Reaves
Clarkson
McNabb</div></div>
No way they're trading a 1st Round Pick for that return. Noesen also wasn't tendered by the Devils so he's all yours.
While I personally like Reaves' fit, the only person that's going to be on the Devils after year 1 is McNabb – the Reaves and Clarkson are cap dumps. McNabb is not worth a 1st round pick, and the other 2 bring down his value.
Most I would offer would be something like
:devils
Mirco Mueller
Mikey McLeod
2021 4th

A package of McNabb, Reaves, and Clarkson honestly makes a lot of sense for the Devils – what would you want in return for all 3?

Adding Zucker
I don't think that's enough for Zucker, probably need to include a pick as well, but I like the team you've built. Needs some more size though.
Well done signing TEN 3-year deals also, hopefully Hughes has about 250pts under his belt and needs $10m+.

Devils 2019-2020
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jinchoo</b></div><div>Well Hall is already making 6, so it'd only be another 4-5 on top of that towards the cap, but yeah i agree that Nico will be getting atleast 6-7, Bratt 3-4, and a couple mill for Blackwood. People dont realize that our cap situation is going to be gone very quickly just from our own players in the next year. So at the low end just those 4 players it'll be like 16-17 million. We're still in a great situation and we still have room to be able to add another player this offseason but we cant be spending stupid money. We have less cap available than people realize</div></div>
Yeah, we're on the same page – but his "Long-Term Outlook" only clears $21m next season, and that doesn't count any $ towards the players I named above... and we would need to sign / pay 11 more players with that money. Not do-able if you want to keep them all.

...and that's if they trade Hall. I think you're looking at around $24m to keep Hall ($10m+), Hischier ($7m+), Bratt ($4m+) and Blackwood ($3m+) alone.

Finishing the Offseason Strong
I don't think I'd do that Zucker trade in your scenario. Does it make the 2019-20 team better? Probably, but it puts them up against the cap real hard and you could get a breakout year from Wood, Coleman, Boqvist, Anderson, or even Donskoi in your scenario playing with Jack Hughes and you can save Butcher / Anderson.

Devils would take that and run, as long as there's a contract in place for Gusev and there's no threat of KHL time.

If you want to get rid of Perrault you're not getting Severson and Coleman, the Perrault salary lowers the return.
I would say Severson + Wood or Vatenen + Coleman. Either way, I'm not keen on getting rid of Coleman OR Severson.

Hughes Panarin Subban Cup
I agree with the above comment. I don't think you need Panarin AND Zucker – I love Jesper Bratt, I think he can slot into either wing on that second line just fine.
This would also put us up against the cap next season with raises for Hall, Hischier, Bratt, Blackwood, and a few other guys to fill out our roster.

Who would you target on the Devils for McNabb & Reaves? I could see them being very interested in that package, they could probably eat Clarkson's contract too.

Looks fairly accurate to me. I think Hischier gets 8 x $8m max, and I don't think Hall breaks $11m, but it could be close.
I think Butcher and Zacha get a little more too – and not 1-year deals for either of them, more likely 3-4.
