<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>You are getting a 1st + 2nd but we can easily get that by retaining just 2 mil and taking cap back, like you did with Koskinen. At half retained Price has enough value to warrant getting 2 1sts + Yamamoto then you add on the cap dump of Koskinen then we get the 2nd. So yes your selling low on Price by about a 1st. Neither Montreal or Arizona are getting the 25% benefit, Edmonton is, which if I am the Arizona GM I am asking for a 1st or equal prospect for as well since the cap hit is 4 years long. Remember Price just carried a weak Montreal team to the SCF, imagine what he could do with a good team like Edmonton. Price at 8-8.5 Mil is a good deal, Price at 5.25 is a steal, Price at 2.625 has almost as much value as Vasilevsky or Hellebuyck at full cap hit. Price is still regarded as a top 10 goalie in the league.</div></div>

Price is going to be 35
Price has injury history
Price has mental health issues
Price's contract is buyout proof
Price's stats have not been good save for a couple recent playoff runs.
price has an NMC

What team is going to pay full value for that? No one! Only a few teams have cap space to add a player at the cap you suggest. Only a few teams have the need for a goalie like Price. Price has an NMC so Habs can't just ship him anywhere. The negotiation is very slim for the Habs. Whats the alternative? Keep price through a rebuild? Buy him out? Habs don't have a ton of options with this player.

But who cares what I think...... if the Habs get a bajillion 1sts and prospects, i ain't going to complain.... But I don't think that's realistic. You think Price is worth more and I think he's worth less. We won't know so until it happens, you are neither wrong nor right. Just like me. So its just opinion and not facts at this point. You have no idea what Price is REALLY worth. Just an opinion based on.......nothing. Just like mine.

Thread: Fudge it
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Another example of someone wildly overvaluing players on his favorite team.

I know that Turris is a pure cap dump.

I know that Lagesson is unlikely to ever be more than a third-pairing defenseman.

I know that Broberg is an A prospect, but HIGHLY unlikely to ever be as good as Chychrun.

I know that Ralph "The Sled" Lavoie is a B prospect whose skating may keep him from ever being a top-6 forward.

I know that right now, Tyler Tullio is not regarded as more than a B prospect.

I know that a 2023 first won't hit the NHL until 2025-2026, if then, if ever.

Jakob Chychrun would be the third most-valuable player on your team, well above Ryan Nugent-Hopkins or Darnell Nurse and head and shoulders above anyone else including prospects in your system (even Evan Bouchard).

And if you think that Seth Jones got traded for Adam Boqvist, or that a declining Kyle Palmieri is anywhere close to the value of Chychrun, God help you.</div></div>
point is all start players get traded for picks and prospects all the time... pretty much every trade very rarely is it allstar for allstar.

In your case ARZ is clearly not in the win now mode or will be any time soon. so getting another alstar player back will mean that player asking for a trade anyways.
more time than not for an all star player its a 1st rounder an A prospect a B prospect and then some other later pick with a condition so pretty much met here if not more.

regardless i would not do this trade from edmonton stand point i would rather keep broberg lavoie and the 1st it will more holes that the oilers have need in than chychrun does. Oiler core is set they just need depth

also not sure you can call palmieri declining he had one off year last year. other than that 5 straight years of 45-50 points and 24 + goals each season so good help you if you think he does still have value.

as for LAvoie I haven't heard anywhere about foot speed holding him back. yes not his strongest attribute most scouts still project him as a top 6 RW
