Sandin doesn't sign that deal nor does liljegren. If you want them at that price would prob only be 1 year deal. Also zadorov is probably getting over payed bc he is a big dman who brings "intangibles" (in other words NHL GMs are idiots)

Severson Trade Targets
I think leafs pass on that specific offer. Can't see them giving up liljegren and a 1st. one or the other with a mid/lower end tier prospect like steeves or abramov. But personally I would not trade liljegren in a deal for severson.

Do people actually value Engvall? Coming from a guy who watches the leafs religiously and has seen Engvall develop he is a decent enough Pker and can make an impact on the 4th line every now and then. But he does seem to go through ups and downs. Very streaky.

Niemela isn’t getting flipped for a rental. Only way he moves is if the guy coming back has some term

I don’t think Leafs trade both Amirov and Niemela. That’s why I didn’t put him in. I also believe adding Amirov would be an overpay. However I do see ARI side of wanting at least 3 1st round caliber talents. Robertson isn’t their, but Niemela and obviously the 1st is. If anything I think swapping out Amirov for Robertson would do the trick if ARI didn’t like this offer.

Ya I figured. Trade isn’t exactly needed in this scenario but Lou loves his big old dman and that is what Rubins is. Was defiantly overestimating is value in this trade just bc it’s Lou on the other side

A 3rd trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>You clearly over value Liljegren. Sure he has potential to be a decent #4 but not much higher. Chychrun is a top 30 defenseman in the league
Robertson is also not nearly on the same level as Krebs in potential</div></div>
Liljegren has potential to be more than a #4. He’s only 22 years old and only has 40-50 GP in the NHL. He already leads the leafs in many defensive metrics and has looked solid playing as the #4 guy when they’ve had cap/injury issues this year. And the reason Krebs is valued higher has a lot to do with him going higher in the draft and being a centre/being able to play in the top 6 on a weak Buffalo team. The pure numbers in his last 3 pro/amateur seasons are very comparable to Robertson.

Dermot and Engvall only their to make the cap work. Liljegren, Robertson, 1st, Abruzzese is equivalent to the Eichel package (no player to make a significant impact rn like Tuch but Liljegren has the potential to make bigger impact in the future). Could change Abruzzese to a 2nd but honestly I don’t see how this isn’t a fair trade.

If a future Top 4 D (Lili), 2nd liner (Robertson), B tier prospect (Abruzzese), Dermot (bottom pairing D) and a 1st isn’t enough for Chychrun they are never trading this guy lol. Figured the 2nd and Engvall was good enough for crouse. But Dermott/Engvall are really only their to make the money work.

Not gonna lie Id rather have this
Leafs had to deal Kadri. He costed them 2 playoff series’ by taking away their only advantage on Boston (which was centre depth). Couldn’t risk that happening again. Plus who knew Barrie was gonna be that much of a flop. He had played like a #2 guy in Colorado the prior 2 seasons. Hindsight is always 20/20. Same deal with the JT deal. You can’t convince me that u were against that at the time.

Ya Topi Niemela is legit. Played big minutes at the world juniors 2 years ago and one D of the tourney. Continues to improve every year and been putting up great numbers in Liiga. If the leafs don’t trade him at the deadline I’d assume he would come over from Europe and end the season with the Marlies so he can adjust to the NA ice/game.
LOL… When the leafs scouting staff is pulling Matt Knies out of the late 2nd round every pick kept counts.

Only one I thought was an overpay was the Gavrikov trade… but a lot of people seem to be overly high on him so that’s why I added the 2nd.

You’re getting Gavvy, with retention, and moving Holl’s contract. He’s a fine depth D, but where CBJ are in their rebuild, they don’t really need him. More or less just a more expensive replacement for Gavvy.</div></div>
Oh my… u guys don’t know the value/how good Niemela is going to be. He could be playing as early as next year and is going to be a legit stud. I thought I was overpaying with the 2nd tbh
