Grim Outlook
Frankly, I think that we may be in the Matt Beniers-Fabian Lysell-Brandt Clarke area for the 2021 draft, plus we have one of the best prospect pools in the League. We have an excellent prospect for a #1C already in the system (Trevor Zegras). Prospects at LW (Max Comtois, Braden Tracey), C (Sam Steel, Isac Lundestrom) and RW (Troy Terry, Jacob Perreault) all look very promising. There's additional depth coming in the form of Blake McLaughlin, Benoit Groulx and Sam Colangelo. On defense we have Jacob Larsson and Josh Mahura already playing professionally and Jackson LaCombe and Henry Thrun on the left, all of whom look like NHL calibre, and Jamie Drysdale on the right could be in the Quinn Hughes/Miro Heiskanen/Cale Makar class. Plus we have John Gibson for 6 more years. I think we'll be okay.

Grim Outlook
Zegras, Drysdale, Comtois, Steel, Lundestrom, Perrault, Lacombe, Mahura, Guhle, Thurn, Terry, Jones, Dotsal, Colangelo, etc...
On top of guys (currently) Gibson, Lindholm, Fowler, Rakell, Silfverberg, Heinen, Milano
A ton of upcoming cap space
Ducks outlook couldnt be further away from grim

Absolutely head scratching
It's also cap management for a low budget team. Putting Henrique on waivers makes him eligible for the taxi squad which saves his daily cap hit each day he's on the taxi squad. If he clears, they can move him between the roster and taxi squad and NHL roster without worry of waivers for 30 days and accumulate cap space. If he gets claimed, the team gets out of an overpaid player without giving up additional assets and it saves them more money.
Fans need to read when they see guys go on waivers. This season especially when it was a flat cap. Nick Suzuki got sent down to the taxi squad too, it was purely a cap move. Many teams have done it.
Chill.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ragsandbluesfan</b></div><div>Well yeah but skinner is definitely better than a 4th liner</div></div>
Skinner has one assist in 13 games and is minus one (not that I put a lot of weight on that statistic).
Our fourth liner is named Nic Des Lauriers. In 16 games he has 3 goals and 2 assists, is plus one on one of the worst defensive and plus-minus teams in the NHL, and has two fighting majors.

As bad as he's played this year, Henrique is still worth a first-round pick more than Jeff Skinner (when you factor in their contracts). But knowing you, and looking at the title, I have a feeling you aren't entirely serious.

Shattenkirk was solely responsible for the 2nd goal and a huge factor in the 3rd goal. He’s been BAD. Eakins has no clue.

If he’s not being traded then Eakins needs to go. Eakins needs to go either way. GMBM too but get rid of Eakins ASAP.

How would Anaheim fans feel about a Henrique for Atkinson swap? I know Atkinson is huge for our culture and Henrique won't accept a trade here but hypothetically i wonder how it would go

Who I Would Protect in the Expansion Draft
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DucksFan55</b></div><div>Would you go 8 skaters or the 7f/3d set up? Now that we got Shatty I've been seeing a lot more people arguing for protecting all 4 of 22/4/47/42. Personally, I think it depends on what the kids show this year and how bad we are. If we're a bottom 10 team again, I'd assume we'll sell so maybe we aren't protecting a guy like manson or rakell anymore (like we trade them). If we're middle of the pack or a fringe playoff team, my guess is we lose either one of the young LHD (guhle, mahura, larsson) or the young forwards (Milano, Heinen, Lundestrom, Jones). Either way I think we're in a decent spot. I'm really excited to see what they do with all the cap space we have going into next year.</div></div>
I can see Colorado, Los Angeles, Minnesota, Nashville and perhaps Tampa (depending upon what happens with Sergachev and Cernak) protecting 4 defensemen, but I don't think it makes much sense for Anaheim. As you so accurately point out, with Rakell and Manson in the last year of their contracts after expansion, we will probably want to protect as many young forwards as we can because it will still be difficult to predict what their upsides will be as they reach the peaks of their careers. I think that it's possible we could work a deal with Seattle whereby we keep 8 forwards and 4 defensemen and Seattle gets to select both a forward and a defenseman from the remainder, or something like that.

Whos our Next Target
Comtois is exempt from the expansion draft, so I don't think that the Ducks move him. Obviously, Reinhart would be the best fit, but we'd probably have to exchange Manson and Ristolainen at the same time. There would be other elements involved, of course,

I'd say they go and take a buy low candidate in Granlund. Like a 2 year deal, worth maybe 3.5mil per? As a bounce back candidate I think he could do well next to Henrique and Rakell.

I love this lineup better where Silfverberg plays with Getzlaf so he doesn’t get left with 2 youngsters. I think this team could surprise, just needs that 1RW maybe Toffoli?

I see Larsson as our seventh defenseman, at least at the start, because Curran is waiver-exempt. You left out Comtois, for whom I still hold out great hope. But maybe Lundestrom supplants him.

What a Draft
Dont think the draft could have gone any better for us honestly.
RHD was a major need and we added the best one in the draft with Drysdale. Moore is a very, very nice under the radar prospect who I had my eye on pre-draft as a late round target, love getting him round 3 and Nickl is a smooth skating rush defender with a long stick who already has NHL size at age 18
RW was arguably our second biggest need and we added to that in a big way with Perreault who is exactly what the doctors were prescribing to us and I have confidence in a top line of
Comtois-Zegras-Perreault in the future. Colangelo is a very nice addition and brings us someone I like to classify as a "Bob Murray Guy" (which is a good thing) a Smart, defensively strong power forward.
Then our later round guys in Sundsvik, has a very quick shot/release which is something that is hard to teach and learn, loves to jump in on the forecheck, needs to round out his game, but a very nice 6th rounder "project" type player
Then we get to a Russian?! The drought since Chistov is over :tearsofjoy Galimov is "Old" for a draftee being 21 already but that doesnt take away from the player he is. Always seems to know the next option when he receives, which helps him create quicker and cleaner transitions. When Galimov's defensive assignments are clear, he can stick to his check and deny passes coming to him. Had 23 points in 55 games as a 20 YO in the KHL and has 7 points in 12 games this year. Seems like the definition of a lottery ticket to me but I'm a big fan of this pick
Overall I'd give the draft class an "A", filled our biggest needs without reaching on anyone which creates a perfect storm for a rebuilding team. Filling needs with the best available overall player on the board. (Can argue Moore wasnt) Great, Great job by Murray, Madden and the front office

What a Draft
I gave us a B+. Love all the selections but it plays it a lil too safe.
Then again, despite Drysdale's high floor I see a project. But nothing too major and really shouldn't get in the way of how we should think about this selection. BPA imo
Perrault was clutch to put it simply. Huge value at 27. See his game being able to translate quickly. Does flat out puck watch or abandon checks at times. But kid can score genos.
Sam Colangelo was the fair pick despite me pulling for other players like Marat Khusnutdinov. Another right handed shot that can score at the level he plays rn. Look forward to seeing him play in college.
Everyone likes Ian Moore. I dont watch or know prep so Im clueless. 6'3 RHD its a need not bpa I think. I saw players like Ty Smilanic available and wish we considered.
No clue about the others.
Nonetheless, no real complaints. All decisions were very reasonable and will help our future. Do see us needing another lottery pick tho.

I don’t think Deangelo fits in Anaheim. You can def afford this trade with Schneider now in your prospect pool.
