Well thank you for explaining the cap to me.
Then let me propose a financial trade to you.
Adam Henrique for Oskari Laaksonen.
Laaksonen is Buffalo's top RHD prospect.
He is signed until 22-23 one more year than Larsson and you will save almost $6,000,000 of cap space.
That is really delicious I would imagine as that is twice as much as the Sabres would have saved with your trade.
The best part is, you do not need to protect Laaksonen in the expansion draft.
So let's jump on this trade.
You can call Bob Murray and tell him how to save $6,000,000 of cap space, I am sure he will just want to call Kevyn Adams and make that trade straight away as both teams could be making trades now.
I sure hope you get the irony that your argument just does not hold any merit.
The point is while Miller is not Henrique he is not a cap dump.
He was paired with Dahlin and both did very well in that setting.
Cap is important, but Buffalo does not have cap problems.
I saw this post: <a href="https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/355548?post_id=1678978">https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/355548?post_id=1678978</a>
Now that may not be a cup team, but as you can see it is nearly $9,000,000 below the actually cap max.</div></div>
Wow! Amazing that you could misconstrue the point I was making so astronomically. My comment had nothing whatsoever to do with cap space or cap dumps.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gretzkyghosts</b></div><div>That may work for the Sabres as ti would cut the cap and provide a third LHD.
TBH, I think Anaheim would need to add.
Miller is an established NHL defenseman.
Larsson, while may develop to be better than Colin is not there yet.
A third seems to be too much, so would you consider swapping Anaheim's 3rd and Buffalo's 4th?</div></div>
I think that you're underestimating the financial value of a guy who turns 24 in April and is signed for this season and next, after which he's still a RFA, when Miller becomes a RFA. And don' forget that Miller has to be exposed in the expansion draft.

Yeah, I think that I would do that. Miller isn't a one-year rental and he'd be a good third-pairing RD. That assumes that the coaching staff doesn't have sufficient faith in Hakanpaa to step in. On that count, I may be all wet.

On pace means potential, which means value. With that logic draft picks are worthless since all they are is potential. Regardless arguing over value is pointless we can both argue our sides but we'll see the return when and if the deal happens

That Laine trade is about right for what he's actually worth, but 2nd OA pick and etc etc etc</div></div>
The rumors are ANA wants to work out one, not that one is for sure being done. and in this thread one wasn't done. Sprong was scoring on a 24 goal pace last year (14G in 47 games) while only playing 13 minutes a night. That and a second is more than a fair return

Anaheim doesn’t NEED, Faulk. They have quite a strong youth core. Faulk is a want, it’d be nice if they can extend him but Kase or Rakell is NOT GOING ON THE OTHER WAY. Lmfao. Kase is 2 cap hit and Rakell is just under 4. Both are top 6, with easy cases to be a top 3 player. Kase is he can fit in 82 games and improve on His last campaign; will absolutely sky rocket in value. Rakell is a solid player. Anaheim should keep both as they bring more value to their team than Faulk, and could be traded for more than Faulk.
Carolina can keep Faulk and trade him at TDL if they’d like a better return. If Anaheim loses a 2020 first or Kase or rakell for Faulk their gm needs to be fired.

So they get to drop Callahan's $5,800,000 ...
But that's the <strong>only</strong> contract (above $1,300,000) coming off the books next year ... so how is this money still "available" after re-signing:
Sergachev
Cernak
Cirelli
Joseph
I won't even ask about Points new contract ... but I am wondering who they're gonna trade to free up $10,000,000+/- in cap-space next year?
Killorn is the only player making over $2,000,000 that doesn't have a full NMC next year (and he still has a partial NTC).

Ultimately he is young so it will be alright, but is Vasy really 50% better than Gibson (who should have won the Vezina)?

My Take on 2019-2020 Ducks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheJoeMan</b></div><div>For the same reasons big time free agents never come here. It's a small market (in terms of fans at least), the taxes are really high here, and the team simply can't afford it. Throw in the new development of this team being really bad and on a rebuild and you have all the reasons you need why he (or anyone else) won't sign here. The only big time free agent this team has signed in the Samueli's era is Scott Niedermayer and that was largely due to his brother. There's a reason why Murray makes as many trades as he does. That's the only way to get impact players on this team that aren't home-grown.</div></div>
So why didn’t Canadians, Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry leave when they hit UFA and we’re guaranteed a massive payday anywhere? Why did Silfverberg stay even tho this team is “so bad”? Why did Mike Trout stay across the freeway whence probly could have gotten $500M from a team back east where he’s from? Every reason you gave is bs. The Samuelis can afford another big name if the cap works too.

Bob, Lets do it!!
I’ve looked at the team next season and it is extremely hard to resign Pac even if silf goes with the raises Gibson and Henrique get. With that said if they make the move for Pac he plays with Henrique and Perry on the 2nd line and the kid that starts the season at C plays with Kase and Silf in the 3rd line. Kase is underrated defensively and silf is their best defensive winger but they’re both capable offensively. Can’t have one if your 2 best scorers playing with a question mark at C.

Actually you're right. I had forgotten about Gibby's Raise. We'd probably be about 4 mill short of where we would want to be. They could try and move Perry, Eaves or Cogs but I dont think its generally BMs MO to put himself in a situation where he has to trade players to make room as its a tough negotiating spot.

I'm glad you are not the GM. You would have pitch forks at your front step for trading both Manson and Montour.
None of these trades make sense at all and its basically to trade for EK65 and re-sign him. If he doesn't come with a contract extension already, no reason to trade for him.
