If Crouse is that good, (you have on the first line) why would Coyotes ever make that trade? Spezza and Boyd at centre for 20 minutes a night doesn't sound like a good plan for the Leafs

Canucks 20-21
No GM in their right mind retains money for SEVEN years. That's just asking to be perpetually middle of the pack, even if it is just 1.25m
Even without the retention, OEL doesn't go for two cap dumps, a 26yo mid-pairing dman, and a 23yo prospect who's ceiling is mid-pair. The 1st doesn't offset the rest of an underwhelming package

They may want to not pay a guy 5,000,000 to not play - whether the cap hit counts or not... Think Clarkson</div></div>
did you even look Hossa up? His total pay this year is 1M not 5M and insurance covers 80% of that. So i total Arizona is paying him 200k

Reaching the cap floor
Stepan only being owed 2M is the exact reason Arizona likely keeps him. They can just sell him at the deadline instead

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafsfan712</b></div><div>Coyotes wouldn’t want a very trade able asset? Never said coyotes were going to go with Andersen and Raanta.</div></div>
That would be Terrible asset Management by the Coyotes why gamble on value for Andersen when they can get full value for Kuemper also Garland makes 775K there is no saving there whatso ever and he ranked first in the NHL last season for goals and points per cost , Coyotes counter back with 15th pick and Nick Robertson

There are a lot of ACGMs that involve LTIR where the poster has no idea how LTIR works.

Hossa's actual Salary is 1M next season so thats not an issue for them, and they certainly wouldnt let it detract from an offer for Kuemper.

Is LA trying to compete yet
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Del_</b></div><div>Yeah, there are only two players still owed $4M (OEL and Goligoski). Everybody else is quite cheap the rest of this year. They should be well under $70M. There's not really a way to cut much more. They need to clear a little cap, and I'm sure wouldn't mind cutting salary, but even a league minimum player replacing Stepan only saves 1.3M. I think one of the D will go to make room for Soderstrom, but I can't see trading Stepan when they have no centers ready to step in.</div></div>
Thanks for explaining!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jnowariak</b></div><div>I the the OP has the same idea I do. The coyotes have 2 solid center prospects and they are currently cash strapped. This would cost them a long term C but it helps with their immediate cash situation. I agree Dvorak is the best they got but I wonder how much cash matters for them.</div></div>
But the answer cant be to trade a 24 year old (a good 2 way C) who has been one of their best roster players for the past 2+ seasons.

Two years of Darcy Kuemper is more valuable than one year of Freddie Andersen. The idea that Arizona would add its only top-two pick in the next two years is absurd.
DeMelo isn't signing anywhere for one year, let alone for that figure.
Los Angeles has two Andreas Johnsson's. Their names are Alex Iafallo and Adrain Kempe. The Kings have two Justin Holl's. Their names are Sean Walker and Matt Roy, and both are probably better than Holl already. The Kings might give you that 2021 fourth for the two of them.

Hardly. Not sure they take it. 🤷🏻♂️
Rather have Chychrun than Brannstrom.
Keumper > 2nd and AHL goalie.
Does Logan Brown make up the difference?

Wild probably punting on season
I actually like this a lot. Would rather pick up someone would help accelerate the offense but like you said...probably nobody available on the trade market for us to do that. This helps out Arizona in the pursuit of Hall this summer and/or other FA's to help them take the next step. Both are kind of stop gaps for us but I think they're necessary and we have the cap space to do it.
Once again, I think this is a last resort but a decent option to at least remain competitive for another year while our youth develop.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Del_</b></div><div>Goligoski puts up 35-40 points every year and eats 22 minutes a night on an expiring contract. I've never been that impressed with Petterson, but that's just me. I don't think Rikkola has much value, and everybody is going to be trying to dump contracts like JJ's. Just my opinion</div></div>
That’s nice, but there is no room on this team for him. Even after getting rid of JJ and Riikola. The pens are high on Dumo, Petterson, and POJ. If Riikola and JJ are gone, that means POJ will get the nod at 3LD. If the pens get rid of JJ, it will be to clear cap space, not add it.
