It’s not hard to find a cheap guy to play bottom pairing minutes, but part of Girard’s appeal is that he’s on a great contract considering the value he brings.
And EJ’s contract sucks but it’s only one more year and then his money goes to MacKinnon/Byram/Newhook.</div></div>
These are the exact reasons I thought of why COL wouldn't do it. The question is does the pros out way the cons. That's why I love this trade its really debatable and has a lot of different things to consider. I would say not doing the trade is playing it safe but, if you do it you have a really good chance of getting back-to-back cups. You are the first person that agrees that the EJ contract is garbage. Thank you.

By that point hopefully, Colorado will have 2 cups. This trade opens up 11 million in cap for COL. Say Miller signs at 8 Millon which is still a net gain of 3 million in cap.

He is making 6 million next year and he is playing 3rd pair. You don't think the money could be better spent somewhere else? COL is probably winning the cup this year and will want to keep the band together so they can win more. They have 11 players that are UFA/RFA. Several need a large payday. Johnson is the most expendable asset to free up money.

Colorado and Miller's name has been brought up. I kind of see it as a Kadri replacement.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HOCKEYBOY448</b></div><div>As a fan of neither the Nucks or Avs I gotta think they decline the Miller trade. Girard is a great top 4 d man locked up to a great contract. Miller is a rental. I could see him getting a 1st, great prospect and maybe a 2nd or lesser prospect. I personally don’t think you move a top 4 d man in his mid 20s signed long term for a rental. It’d more than likely need to be a hockey trade for another similar aged player. Thinking of the Johansen and Jones trade a while back.</div></div>
Johnson is a cap dump. COL moves 11 million dollars out and gets a 1C for 2.6 million at 1 year with the extra cap it isn't out of question they could resign him or use the massive amount of money they open up to keep the team together.

Why would Kapanen be leaving as a UFA? He is a RFA with a QO of $840K coming off of a down year.
The Hagel trade is one of the most panned trades in the last decade, not a benchmark. He then went on to fizzle hard in Tampa.
0-3 in those citings.
Miller has gotten 99 points exactly once in his career. I understand wanting to sell high, but odds are that he will never do that again.
Pens counter: Marino, 3rd for Miller
Best yet, stop trading Miller to Pittsburgh simply because you guys want Marino so badly.</div></div>

Fair points. Dickinson was traded to Vancouver for a 3rd and I think he must have some value.

Pens counter: Marino, 3rd for Miller
Vancouver fans REALLY need to stop with the "please give us Marino" trades.
Also, as a side, $4Mx5 for Kapanen is way off. He will get 1 or 2 years around $2.5M per to get his play back up.</div></div>
With Letang resigning probably Marino is expendable. Kapanen will probably walk as a UFA. Look at what Hagel got at the deadline. Miller is a 99-point player. I can see the argument that Kapanen could get between 3-4 million. I went with 4 million to be on the high end.

ANDREI KUZMENKO To Vancouver
This management hasn't let us down yet. It's such a breath of fresh air to have competent management at the helm after 8 years of Benning. KUZMENKO has selected Vancouver today! Jim has sold another person on his dream for this team moving forward. While we don't know how good KUZMENKO will be this is the type of smart move that will improve the team. This move is zero risk and all upside. As a Canucks fan I'm very excited for this offseason. I predict the signing of KUZMENKO means Pearson will be moved soon.

I never said he is for sure getting traded. If you scroll up you can see me saying I'm not sure why NJ would trade him. All I'm saying is Bratt trades don't seem that farfetched considering there are rumours. NJ fans get so defensive.
