Chucks team

May not get a 2nd for Hagg but that's pretty much irrelevant to the team build. I don't like needing to start Morin and only having Friedman as the 7th D though. That's kinda scary.</div></div>
I really think Morin can be a solid bottom pair d man

3 things:
1. I don't think the flyers can sign Hayes to an 8 year contract, even though they traded for his rights.
2. Why didn't you sign Laughton? Would fix your bottom six.
3. I doubt they go with Lyon as their backup.
All in all I don't mind the trades. Good work!

Ya this one makes me think. I absolutely love Laine and would love him on the flyers. Only thing that makes me hesitant is that we would need to sign both trouba and Laine. Trouba is gonna get anywhere from 7-8 million and I have no clue what Laine wants (10?)

Hayes It Is
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>cmaenza28</b></div><div>I don't not like the acquisition. I think he is a good fit and they needed 2C. I just wonder if we go Vet heavy this offseason acquiring or signing guys with 4,5 or 6 year terms, what is the point of having great prospects waiting in line? Morgan Frost and Farabee and Ratcliffe can't all play in the AHL for the next 6 years, and they're not playing 4th line minutes in the NHL. So I just think the more bodies come in long term from outside, the more the writing is on the wall for dealing somebody like Konecny, Voracek, JVR, who knows. They've gotta make room for these guys at some point</div></div>
While I love the kids we have (especially the three you mentioned) it's dangerous to hope that they all pan out. Fletcher had an opportunity to make his team better today and he took it. I'd rather him do that then to hope these kids work out. Like someone else mentioned, injuries happen and who knows what happens in 2,3,4,5 or 6 years. Players could play their way out of the lineup or could have career ending injuries. Who knows. All I can say is I am happy to see Chuck is willing to do what it takes to be better today

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>radtad</b></div><div>Philly takes this in a heartbeat imo. Ghosts contract is beautiful, but I dont see how you say no to this if you are philly. Ya this would be tough to pass on if u are the flyers. Even with acquiring Hayes this would give them great depth

Personally I like Hayes as the 2C, he's a huge center who plays a 200 ft game. Can play pk and pp and is flexible to play wing. I think best case scenario he gets 6x6 as that's what Nelson got

Home to Detroit for 7 x 8 or Philly for 7 x 7. FYI it wont be Philly.</div></div>
I mean ya there is the hometown thing, and ya maybe the flyers up the offer to 8 mill but if trouba wants to win he picks Philly over red wings.

I kinda brought him back just for the reason he is a good 4th liner and I wanted to make it all internal. If they don't sign him it would give them over 13 million in cap space. I would look at potentially someone like Jordan Eberle to go on the 3rd line RW and then move Hartman down to the 4th LW

flyers deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>biggs321</b></div><div>Unpopular opinion but i think they should send hart down for the phantoms playoff run meanwhile talbot and elliot battle it out for the backup job next year. We would get Ho-Sang (who has his issues) for simmer but i think he would play really well with patrick. I think Gudas should be traded and let myers or one of the younger d men play and get some experience. Toronto gets a solid defensive d man for the play off run (if not suspended for being dumb lol) Raffl should just be traded wherever for whatever return to free up room for younger forwards to get some experience. I think Goulbourne will be a solid bottom 6 guy meanwhile vecchione, vorbyov, or aube kubel could come up and experience. This would leave the flyers with plenty of picks in the upcoming draft and plenty of room to maneuver up or down.. Unfortunately i think we are stuck with the macdonald contract but at 5 million with the cap going up i do not think it will be a huge albatross moving forward.</div></div>
Couple points
1) I think chuck buys Amac out in the summer as we have too many defenseman that are coming up next year. Also his ice time is going down as the season is going along.
2) The flyers can send Hart down on paper during the trade deadline. This allows him to play in the NHL to gain big league experience and he can play in the AHL playoffs. If they do this (and I'm sure they will) then...
3) they will trade Elliot to a playoff team for depth.
4) also just a minor thing but I think the islanders would have to add to the trade cause as you said Ho-sang is a lottery pick
Good post!

No I understand that, they did just trade their captain for him (plus picks.) Just saying ghost just came off a 65 point season and while he is having a down year this year you can't discredit his previous success. Not too many defencemen can lead a power play and play the game ghost can. Gotta give to get

Ya I thought about that but I feel like having an all rookie 4th line can be problematic. As for Vanek, there is probably someone better I could have signed for a 3rd line veteran but couldn't think of any at the time. (Also I've always liked Vanek personally)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LoganOllivier</b></div><div>Adding extra mediocre pieces doesn't make a trade better. Nylander is worth way more than a bottom pair defenceman, a pending UFA and a non prospect. This is just silly.</div></div>
Simmonds is a special breed of NHL player, he can score, he can hit, he can fight, he is a leader in the room and on the ice. He's the type of player Toronto needs to get past Boston/Tampa/caps. Gudas has changed his game so he can be a solid top 4 RHD and finally Oskar Lindblom isn't a "non prospect" he's a solid middle six winger that can kill penalties. Just my opinion tho
