I hope they are one of the worst teams next season so they are in a position to win the draft lottery and draft Jack Hughes

Ya Stamkos would be better on the wing. He's bad 5 on 5 and scores a lot of his goals on the powerplay. And Malkin is a much more talented player.

Leafs fans would be happy when they watch the team play and when they actually win a Cup. Or a playoff series.

At the end of the day I would rather have JT then Matthews. So this move loads the Leafs with young talent and you get JT to replace Matthews. This team is pretty sickk so if you don't like it it's because you are just in love with Matthews. Now obviously this most likely won't happen. Just having fun on here.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Juice</b></div><div>Look...I'm not going to fault you for having some fun and bringing in some big names.
I agree that the package headed to the leafs is a strong offer....but the Leafs could never accept. It'd be taking a good young core that hasn't been able to move the needle in Arizona yet and giving away the guy that has finally led the Leafs back into a playoff team. I wonder if that package would have got the Leafs to bite prior to the 2016 draft.
The other trades are being ignored right now too. Unfortunately I don't see any of them being close to viable.
Calgary is not giving you Tkachuk for that random assortment
I'd think every team in the league would take Hanifin over OEL.
And I doubt Detroit has much interest in moving AA for that return.</div></div>
I think you just don't know the players going to Calgary. Fischer and C.Perlini were both first round picks who had good years. And B.Merkley is a good prospect who was a first round pick. Plus the draft picks it's a very fair trade. Tkachuk has a big name and was born in Arizona so it works. Detroit might move AA and to get Pierre-Olivier Joseph who was the 23rd overall pick last draft is a good deal. The Wings need to find that number one dman so getting a prospect like that is huge. Plus they get Hamilton and a 3rd.

Strome and Crouse make me nervous, so I would probably say no, but if they use the $ to sign Tavares, they are better than than they are now, with a ton of assets...
Chychrun - 1st (16th overall - 2016)
Crouse - 1st (11th overall - 2015)
Strome - 1st (3rd overall - 2015)
Domi - 1st ( 12th overall - 2012)
2018 1st rd pick (5th overall - Likely a VERY good player)
Dvorak - 2nd rd pick</div></div>

Draft Day trade with Montreal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>F50marco</b></div><div>If you want to cherry pick a 3OA I can cherry pick 6OA too. Paul Coffey and Peter Forsberg both 6ths.....
My point is saying even if Svechnikov is as good as the best 3OA drafted in recent memory (Draisaitl), and that isn't a given, you can make the same argument for 6OA, 31OA, 33OA, 36OA being combined a higher value. Easily.
You guys are seriously underestimating how good the 6OA player is going to probably be too. 3 picks in the 31-36 range is also amazing! Very high chance at least one of them will be a decent player also. This is very deep draft by any people's accounts.
Anyways you guys can agree to disagree but I would bet my life savings Detroit wouldn't risk 4 very good picks for 1 great one. Especially when the difference between 3 and 6 isn't a mountain. Its a gap for sure but not the difference between winning a cup and not. Having 4 picks all hit <em>is</em> however. That could end up being you're starting lineup just about if your lucky.</div></div>
Its a big jump from 3-6 for forwards. All the dman that are good 6 on are talented but small other then Bouchard. So for me you draft Bouchard at 6 or you draft a small dman which I don't want. And I have a feeling they will... So I would rather trade for the 3rd overall pick and get Svechnikov or Zadina.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DomCholette</b></div><div>I get your point but to be far: Add Toews 3 OA... All 3OA are great 60pts+ type of player.
Low 1st: yes every year you get some good surprise= 3 example per year out of 20 picks... how many never played NHL... 3x more! still a high risk by percentage.
Same with any top 10 higher than 3... probably 20% of them would have a great impact like 50-60pts... Other 80% would be MID 6 forward as example... not TOP line.
But I agree... it depends of the needs... if Svech fall down 3OA... I could seriously see Detroit doing a crazy move like that.
Save $$$ Nyq, Mantha RFA, 6OA for Chucky+ 3OA.
Det line would look like:
AA- Zett- Chucky
Svech LW- Larkin- Svech RW
Bertz- Neilsen- Abdel</div></div>
I agree

They would get another 1st but it's a late 1st and two picks in the 2nd. This isn't the NFL. Picks that go late first and on don't become great players in the league anymore. It happens but not that often these days. Moving up from 6 to 3 is a huge increase in talent in this draft. At least if you want a forward. Most of the dman in the top 10 seem pretty close.
