We dont need futures pt 2
I have to say when I read we don’t need futures I was expecting to come in to seeing Holloway and Bourgault gone. This is maybe a bit of an overpay if Kane doesn’t resign but if the oilers manage to sign him it could be great.

Edmonton Declines they have cap problems and taking on more cap and losing a first round isn’t logical for them right now.

As far as a Montreal trade that seems good for the oilers side of things.

Big Cap Space Trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mglgoalie33</b></div><div>Apparently Anderson's value is high. They want to get rid of Pulujarvi's contract to sign other players(apparently the whole team thinks he's a play killer). Foegele is just for cap reasons, and the Oilers get 2 great AHL proven prosects, and a solid D prospect for a good goalie prospect. I can edit the trade, and stick in another D prospect or pick if ya want</div></div>
If you retain some cap on Anderson’s cap or get rid of him and put in a soon to be ready prospect that trade is far more enticing for Edmonton. They can’t afford to take on 5.5M in cap space on a single player to get rid of 2 at 5.75M they already are looking at likely a 21 man roster if they get creative to drop down to 20 and pick up a player who is underperforming for his contract makes no sense especially when he still has 4 years on his contract.

I agree with you 100% thinking there has to be at least one more trade to happen before season start.

I really don’t get your hate for Foegele he just quietly played the full 82 game regular season and playing mostly on the bottom 2 lines got 26 points or roughly 0.31 points per game averaging 12 minutes per game. This would be an improvement on many NHL teams 3rd line wingers. If you rank every forward who played last year based on points he ranks 245th which when you divide by 32 teams that puts him as on average between the teams the 7th or 8th highest scoring player on an average lineup. Like I said above he is slightly over payed but not so much that he has no value.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LGTBL</b></div><div>Yeah Foegele would cost at least a 2nd round pick to move not a 6th round pick.</div></div>
There is no way he is a solid third line player he is maybe 500k overplayed when you compare him to other players with similar stats however due to Edmonton’s depth and cap situation they can’t afford to keep him a second is no where near right.

Wild stab at the 2024-25 habs
Evan’s is definitely not worth it for the oilers first off they are already in cap problems that aren’t getting better next year and adding an extra 1.7m for next year when they will need to sign Bouchard and Skinner next summer makes no sense. If they are going to trade at the deadline for a player like Jake Evan’s it will be a UFA likely.

Chychrun and Foegele Trade Read Desc
This would be a stupid play by Holland when you have players like McDavid and Draisaitl you don’t want to sell the future to win once you have to continue developing so they will want to stay when their contracts are up and you can continue being competitive.

So I don’t disagree that you are contenders with that line up I just doubt that Grieg plays on the top line to say a player will go from WHL to top line NHL in one year is a huge ask of anyone.

That’s an easy no for Edmonton RNH is loved in the city, has a good contract for what he brings to the table, and has a full no movement clause.

If it weren’t for the fact that their Left D is basically set(other than the fact that Broberg has to earn the spot over Samorukov, and Niemalainen)and the oilers need to free up cap room to afford to sign the likes of Skinner and Bouchard next summer. Taking on Girard’s contract wouldn’t be worth what it might cost them.

I would say Holloway moved with Hyman instead. Maybe half way through the year it flips but he will need at least some time on the 3rd or 4th line to get used to the NHL game before he goes to the second line.
