I can't see Vancouver signing Tanev in the off-season, and they're not trading their future first-round picks.</div></div>
A lot of reports have Tanev signing in Vancouver in the off season. He loved it in Vancouver, played well alongside Hughes who liked playing with him, and Vancouver has rumoured interest given his veteran leadership and strong defensive play.
While I think they’d be reluctant to part with another 1st I think they are confident enough Tanev would sign for a slight discount and value what he would bring for a run this year that they might move a 1st but only if Calgary retains (can’t afford him under cap otherwise). Lottery protected 1st, D prospect and Friedman for Tanev 50% retained would be my ballpark.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AC14</b></div><div>My perspective is I wouldn’t put any value to Mikheyev, would be fine with salary coming back. His term is a little longer and he is at least a useful player, but nonetheless he doesn’t fit anything the Blues would be trying to accomplish in trading Buchnevich.
As for Lekkerimaki, it would be closer, but it still doesn’t fit a large organizational need. He’s a good prospect but his skill set is pretty similar to Snuggerud/Dvorsky as being a good PP one timer option.
Willander checks a lot of boxes for what the Blues need in their system. Personally I don’t care too much that the pick is deferred but it is certainly not preferred as it sets a timeline back further.
Podkolzin to me is a salvage project similar to Broberg from Edmonton. Blues are in a position to do something like that. But I wouldn’t put his value much above a 3rd if it were 1-1 him for a pick.
I’m personally not moving Buchnevich unless it fits an organizational need. Which is a good defensive prospect. He works really well here and works better with Thomas than Kyrou does. The Blues also don’t need to be in a rush to move him as they could very easily ask for a package similar to what you have put together next trade deadline. Our front office is not going to tank, right or wrong in one’s opinion. But they don’t want to become Buffalo and want to create a good culture for the youth wave that’s about to come up on forward and with Lindstein on the back end.</div></div>
Mikheyev is a proven two way winger who has shown he has the speed and tenacity to play in the top 6 and be effective on the PK. He is not a salary dump. Podkolzin is on track to be a two way middle six winger. He’s not a reclamation. In any case, Canucks aren’t dealing either as they need the depth for a playoff run and the price would be too high for Buchnevich (who I doubt is made available) as Canucks aren’t willing to move top tier prospects (Wallinder/Lekk) as management has already indicated.

I think Canucks are done in terms of upgrading their forward group. They will look to add a RD. Feel like they would need to add a B prospect to go with Friedman and the 2nd if Flames retain given other interested teams.

Canucks trade seems fair and if I’m the Canucks I make that deal. They would have the D depth to rest/rotate Cole and Tanev to mitigate injury risk down the stretch.

I like this roster make up and find your comparables well reasoned. Not much to quibble with but I think Petey might want more (12.5) and Tanev might want more term. Could see Cole coming back at a cheap contract.

Zadrov, Soucy, Cole swap in/out based on matchups, who needs rest, who’s playing best and who is healthy. Cole has been key on PK and stabilizes their bottom pair, Soucy has played better than Zadarov when healthy. All three are in the mix though.

Non-prospects? Juulsen isn’t a prospect but he’s a 26 year old right hand D who’s proven effective as a bottom pairing guy who can also kill penalties. Silvos is a legitimate goalie prospect who projects to play in the NHL. I don’t see this deal fitting Calgary’s needs but both have value as trade pieces.

So much for everyone on here being adamant Flames had no interest in Luzmenko and saying Canucks would have to give up Hoglander/Podkolzin + Lekkarimaki/Wallinder + 1st. Or those saying Canucks would have to pay to dump Kuzmenko. As I had been posting, Horvat trade was the fair comparable.

If horvat is worth a 1st, a roster player, and a mid level prospect then jake is worth a 1st, a decent roster player, and a blue chip prospect.</div></div>
Will see in a few weeks I guess

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SydBarrett</b></div><div>If Pod is looking that good why is he in the AHL this year after spending nearly 120 games in the NHL?
If Kuz is a 38 goal scorer why does he keep getting scratched? What is his current scoring pace this year on one of the most dynamic offenses in the league?
If you think jake is taking a paycut and term cut to move to Vancouver you are kidding yourself lol.
If miller is making 8 mil. Older than Jake. and not as good as jake then why would jake make less than miller?</div></div>
Podkolzin is developing better getting top 6 minutes in AHL then bottom six minutes at NHL at this point in his development. There is still lots of runway for him. Canucks are deep enough in the middle and bottom of the roster they don’t need to rush him.
Kuzmenko is struggling in his sophomore year and not adapting to the current system Canucks play. He may never be a 38 goal scorer again but you can’t discount that he has done it at the NHL level before and have to judge him on both years not this year only. There is as much reason and evidence he’ll be a 30+ goal scorer as there is evidence he won’t. So he’s not a cap dump. Someone is buying.
Miller has put up more points per game, more hits, more blocks, won more faceoffs and had better underlying numbers than Guentzel over the past 3 years. He can play C and wing. Miller > Guentzel. Even putting that aside, why would you want to pay two players who aren’t even your two top players (Petey, Hughes) that much in their post 35 years? It’s not a fit. Unless Petey walks. Even then.
If Guentzel isn’t tradedand walks as UFA Pens get nothing. Market will dictate what the return is. My feeling is that it’s a 1st a decent roster player and a good but not elite prospect. Simmilar to the Horvat return.

You're about 2 mil aav and 2 years term short.
Tanev doesn't take a pay cut like that either.</div></div>
If a 22 year old former top 10 pick who is projecting as a solid two way middle six winger, a 38 goal scorer making 5.5 this year and next and a 1st doesn’t get you a rental Canucks pass. Canucks also pass on paying a player, who is going to be on the wrong side of 30, 8 years at 9.5 as you suggest. Who wants to pay him 9.5 until he is 38? Pens can keep him

Suter has been too valuable to move. You would be gaining in one area while losing in another. Canucks will find a way to add without subtracting from the roster - with the exception of Kuzmenko who they can’t afford to be patient with given his current production and cap hit. He’s the trade chip, along with the 1st, Raty, possibly Podkolzin and a few others playing in the AHL. Whether they get moved seperately or together depends. For Guentzel as a rental I would think Kuzmenko, Raty and a 1st gets it done. Maybe Podkolzin instead of Raty if they push.

Horvat consistently one of the best at faceoffs in the league, more effective on the pp than Lindholm. True the 1st was higher but not true that Raty’s value has going down. His AHL production is up and his PNHLe has gone up. Point is, Lindholm is being overvalued if people think he’s going to net more than Horvat did.

That’s fair. I still think it’s unlikely Canucks include Hoglander, Lekkirimaki, Wallinder or Silvos. But the next tier is definitely in play (Raty, Klimovich, Karlsson, Bains) along with the 1st. Maybe Podkolzin but unlikely for a rental. If the price gets to high for Lindholm I think Canucks look to a tier below like Monahan or Duclair
