Next season

Habs 3C is Danault. 3 - 40+ point seasons and is always in contention for the Selke. Find me a better 3C In the league. KK and Suzuki especially are ready for the 1-2C workload as evidenced by their playoff performances. Domi never even got a sniff at Centre during the postseason. Only had points in 1 game. This move would SIGNIFICANTLY increase the offensive production and shows you know nothing about what you’re talking about. Hoffman is a clinical goal scorer something a team with the 26th best shooting percentage needs. Not to mention Habs were a top 10 team 5 on 5 and really need to upgrade the power play. Something Domi looked constantly lost on and a position Hoffman thrives.

Ciao Domi
Yeah I don’t know the validity of Klefbom being actually available. Some Sportsnet guys mentioned he might be but as someone observing the Oilers from the outside, seems like a weird guy to move on from at this time. At the same time though, I know this as a base package should be enough to attract a top 4 D from some team. I just like Klefbom’a game so I kind of picked him out of a handful of guys haha!

Laine Trade
No way I'd include Brook and Petry in the same deal. Brook is easily going to crack our top 4 in the next 2-3 years and would be the ideal fit to replace Petry long term. Rather give up a better pick and throw in a lower end prospect like Evans. Definitely don't think Juulsen has the offensive instincts to play in the top 4 and would be more or less just be a shutdown line with Chiarot... I Like Juulsen a lot but can't see him as anything more than a 5,6. Could be a 4 with a real offensive dynamo but they don't have anyone like that on the back end right now.

13 mill in Cap space right now too. Move Suzuki to the left Poehling up a line or two. Scratch Ylonen (he'll crack the lineup i think just might have to do a bit of time down in Laval). Use the cap and get quality scoring options for our young centers on the wing. But at any rate this is all hypothetical. Who knows if the Habs are sellers at any point in they are in a good position in the standings. I'd love to hang onto Petry if we could. One thing is for certain though, Montreal's future looks great right now.

That would be awful... Evans lacks the skill-set to play in a bottom 6 role and Danualt is one of the best 2 way centers in the league on a great contract. Would be the perfect 3C for these young guys. We'd have already 6 rookies/sophomore players in this hypothetical which is already too much. I can't see Evans carving out an NHL career where he plays more than 140 games. Especially future drafts and loads of picks coming up, plus acquisitions via trade and (skeptically saying free agency). This is a guy who will never move up the depth chart and is a B-rate prospect at best. Great kid seen him play a bunch in Laval but he's best use to the habs is a future trade sweetener that would be best to move before he gets Hudon like value.

Laine Shipped off to the Habs
Hey everyone thanks for the feedback. I honestly don't mind either Drouin or Tatar going, the reason I suggested Tatar over Drouin was because Tatar is a much more reliable goal scorer than drouin and if you want to hit the reset button a bit after 2 years of going for it, you have the cap space to do it. Definitely see the counter argument for Drouin being highly valid. Win now is a stupid ideology but one most top end teams buy into, especially when they feel they are going backwards like the Jets. Prospects honestly are pretty interchangeable from a Montreal perspective. Lastly, one of things I didn't really go into depth with was the Dollar figure on the Laine contract. I just kind of picked a random number that seemed towards the high end haha! Both that figure, and the amount of retention on a potential Petry deal is very flexible depending on negations if they were to transpire. I do however think adding Petry into the top 4 makes the Jets top 4 outstanding (I'm also a big Pionk fan). I'm sure the habs would prefer to retain Drouin but if push came to shove... I'd do it. I really see Laine as one of the best 5 goal scorers in the league who just had a tough season. He's still super young and hope he'd thrive kind of like Domi did in the Montreal market!

Want your opinion
Don't think Mantha would be a good fit in Montreal. He's the type that needs a good supporting player to bring out his effectiveness. Where as Domi is much better at creating his own offense. The first rounder is a nice piece but I think it takes more, unless the scenario occurs where Domi doesn't want to resign there. Again, seems unlikely.
