Marchand's Tongue Licking
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>F50marco</b></div><div>Absolutely agree but when in a office setting do grown men punch each other in the head without the slightest reprimand? Hockey is not an office job. They have very different standards. I mean someone can literally die from a legal hockey check......
I get it, it is gross and I would of took the penalty and sticked him in the nuts or something but my point in all this was to say I think its a little over dramatic considering all the other stuff that happens in this sport. Yes its gross. But I'd rather be licked by Marched (That sounds bad) than be sticked in the nuts or get a concussion from a punch to the head during a scuffle......</div></div>
He is employeed by a company, the NHL and just because they are a sports team does not allow said employee to behave in a gross way towards other employees and he should be treated as an employee and not put on a pedestal because he's an athlete.

Since there's some down time in the NHL right now, I am going to post for every team except the Knights. Easy template to follow... posters just create what you think is the team in the headings best starting line, including the netminder. I'll post a new team every day or two.

Marchand's Tongue Licking
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>F50marco</b></div><div>Ok so since I have this obsession with playing devils advocate:
Players are allowed to literally punch people in the head, crush them into the boards, shoot frozen solid rubber pucks at your face, accidentally high stick your eye out, stick you in the nuts, slash your finger off, tell the other player that they literally **** every single person in your family, etc etc etc
But taunting players by licking their nose is completely over the top? :|
And this comes from someone who absolutely despises Marchand btw. I get it, it is gross. That mouth and tongue has probably been rummaging through garbage before the game but some people make it sound like Callahan was raped and violated.
Suspension is too harsh IMO. Licking another player needs to be something the players police themselves on. I wish Callahan would of gave a full effort punch straight to the face of Marchand instead of nothing really because he was afraid of getting a penalty, and then the refs just put the whistle away for this one time.
Marchand gets his lick. Callahan gets his retribution. Refs don't give any guy a penalty. That will really teach Marchand that licking isn't cool because there will be no benefit to doing it. Except for a punch to the face that surely won't feel nice.</div></div>
When you think about how poor some people's hygiene is and the diseases people have. If Marchand worked in an office setting and he licked another employee, whether male or female he would be facing sexual harassment charges. Probably be fired, face criminal charges and get sued civilly by the victim. Imagine if someone came up and licked your face out of nowhere. What would you do? Imagine if someone licked a loved ones face. What would you do?
If he did that during the regular season, you best believe he woulda got retaliated against. I can't stand the Bruins but I can respect the skill the guy has and there's no reason he needs to do that stuff. It becomes a distraction to his team. Someone brought up a good point on how do you penalize that. A normal person wouldn't consider behaving that way to begin with so until some strange situation arises, there wouldn't be any forms of punishment documented.

Yikes!!! That 4+ million wasted on Comeau n Nash could get you a better winger then drop a current winger down a spot in the lineup. Also, why would you retain 50% salary n still give up a pick (late round or not) instead of just buying him out?

Penguins would be incredibly stupid to trade Rust just to dump Hunwicks salary. They lack LW depth as it is so why would they give up a LW n not get any kind of return.

Caps won't repeat. They beat a Penguins team ravishes by injuries (Malkin, Kessel, Brassard) and poor defense. The defense will get upgraded over the summer and the injuries will heal. Penguins will be on a mission next season.

I read one post where he said Chris Chelios was a tough guy/stay at home defenseman LOL. Apparently he has no clue how to look up players stats. Chelios had 950pts in 1600gms. He put up serious numbers for a defenseman until his last 6 or 7 seasons. It's pure stupidity to make comments n not know or better yet, contemplate educating yourself prior to making them.

It's because they are all no life having virgins or typical Canadians trying to live out their failed pro hockey careers through here. They all think because NHL18 Franchise Mode denies or approved their fantasy deals the same applies here. It's the same jackasses who post 5x per day on here too. Bunch of idiots who also over-value their teams players. I just think a lot of it is they get mad when someone else comes up with something interesting and they immediately trash it. It's so funny how all these self-proclaimed hockey experts only have a voice on this site or their 10 subscriber YouTube channels. The mods don't ever punish the trolls either. They can keep trolling then you reply n you are the one getting suspended or banned. If they eliminated the problem from the beginning then this site would be better.

Phil won't be thrilling other teams
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rehan</b></div><div>Haha! You're welcome, it's an exclusive club. But yeah, I understand where you're coming from, he tends to make glaring mistakes at just the wrong time, the thing I like about him is that he's still very young and has the potential to improve over the next few years and his contract could end up being a bargain, especially since he's just come off a few terrible injuries, I think he's worth the investment in the long run. You might be right about Rust though, not only that but his boxcar numbers don't jump out like Sheary's did last year and he got 3m.</div></div>
That's why I think GMs need to be careful when handing out contracts after ELCs. Too many times, players get paid based on small sample sizes. Sheary is the perfect example. He had 2 assists in 12 playoff games. That just doesn't cut in terms of pay for production. At 3mil, he need to produce substantially in my opinion. I do like Maatta but his foot speed issue is to alarming to ignore. I don't think at this point in his career, he can be taught quickness. If you look at some elite players with poor skating, they at least have the fast mind to make quick, intelligent decisions with the puck and Maatta doesn't possess that fast mind either. He would probably excel on a team that isn't based on fast play and/or a team that plays team defense.

Phil won't be thrilling other teams
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rehan</b></div><div>Love the TVR acquisition, really think he could solidify that third pair, besides that I personally think that trading away Maatta, who's improving on a controlled contract for a back-up goalie making over 3.5m is a huge over-payment, and an unnecessary one given that Jarry could serve as an adequate back-up for around 1m. A couple more things, that Maroon contract is not worth it for the team, especially one looking to get faster, Maroon doesn't really fit the bill, other guys at that price might be more useful, like Grabner who could replace Hagelin (who you've traded away) in most areas. And finally, just on the Rust contract, don't mind the term, but he'll likely get around 2.5-3 as an RFA so that might make a few of your other moves more difficult.</div></div>
I'm so glad I could be your 6th ever post. Maatta is too slow n makes bad decisions with the puck when pressured so he got traded. His speed is a real issue. Rust hasn't played a full season yet so I don't think he will make more than 2mil. If speed is the issue with any signing, then Thornton should have been the one to single out but I forgot about Grabner and he absolutely would be better fit than Maroon. Guess they couldn't rely on Jarry in the playoffs and with Markstroms decent stats on a terrible team, he might just be worth having around as an insurance policy and could net a better return than was given if they decide to move him in the future for when Jarry is capable of actually being a fulltime NHLer.

Stop with the Kessel trades.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Blynasty</b></div><div>Kuhnhackl is a fine 4th liner. He's a good penalty killer, the Penguins best forward for shot blocking, and his offensive game is starting to come along.</div></div>
Explain how his offensive game is coming along??? He has 11 goals in 168 regular season games and 3 goals in 47 playoff games. ANYBODY can kill penalties. You don't build a hockey team based on special teams and you certainly don't pay players based on shots blocked. If he was remotely gifted offensively then he wouldn't need to be blocking shots because his possession numbers would indicate he isn't always in his own defensive zone. Plus, why handicap Sheehan with a plug? If anything, Sprong n Simon should be the 4th liners as they can create offensive chances.

+/- is a useless stat and every statistician specifically states such. It's not an individual stat. Same with GAA. An example would be if you put Crosby on a line with scrubs like Kunhackl and Craig Adams and gave him Scuderi and Hunwick as the D. No matter how good Crosby is, his plus minus, possession numbers, points per game, etc would all be down in the crapper. You could also say if they ran their team like a junior league team and just put Crosby with all the best players then all of his personal stats would be grossly over inflated. +/- is just a poor stat line to compare skill level. Maatta is sooooooooo slow it makes him a liability. He fears physicality and can't make quick decisions with the puck. His salary could be better spent elsewhere and he's young enough to package in a deal to get a decent return.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>scottclev</b></div><div>I didn't forget to sign Oleksiak. I think Cole is a better fit, especially in a playoff run. He was sorely missed this post season.
And Kuhnhackl isn't awful. He's a grinder, and a good one. No one is expecting 20/20 from him.</div></div>
You may be correct, his 3 goals n 7 points in 47 playoff games plus 11 goals n 38 points in 168 regular season games will absolutely be missed. By the time he scores 20 career goals, he will be 30 years old. Obviously Cole isn't a better fit, he was a healthy scratch for how many games before when was dealt at the deadline? I like Cole and wish we never traded him but he won't come back because of how he was treated here. The Kessel trade rumors are ridiculous as well. Aside from the bad contacts that need to be moved (Hagelin, Hunwick n Sheary), Maatta is the only player I would look to trade.
