<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>leafs101</b></div><div>gonna repeat this again:

Patty Kane is a small guy who racks up assists and has played with great players like toews and panarin, does that make him bad? Absolutely not. 94 point 22 year olds don't grow on trees. Its not a coincidence that every single player he plays with puts up career numbers (or close to it), especially in goals, every single year. For when u say that's not true:
Rookie Year:
Bozak: 55 pts. High: 49 pts
JVR: 29g/62pts. High: came w Marner the next year but we'll get there
Sophomore:
JVR:36g/54 pts
Kadri: 32g (tied for career high), 55 pts (2nd highest. also missed 2 games)
Y3:
Hyman: 21g (tied with again Marner next year), 41 pts (career high)
Tavares: 47g (&gt;prev. high by 10g), 88pts (career high)
Y4:
Hyman 21g (tied from last year w Marner, highest g/pg by a lot), 37pts (highest p/pg by a lot)
Matthews: 47g(career high and on pace for many more), 80pts (high and on pace for many more)

has played with some pretty good lines, and some pretty average lines, but clear that he drives play and makes his teammates much better.

Marner himself:
61 pts
69pts
94pts
67pts (on pace for 93 in an 82 game season)

Defensive game has also been improving. Now a valuable penalty killer.</div></div>

You simply can’t compare Marner to Kane. Marner gets carried by Matthews &amp; van Riemsdyk whereas Kane carries his linemates Toews, Strome, Panarin &amp; Nylander. No one cares how many points Marner scores cuz he’s been riding Matthews’ coattails.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jack_</b></div><div>If you are going to use his model you should at least get the numbers right. His charts are extremely valuable but you are just making **** up. Relative to league average Marner is +29% offensively and +3% defensively. Hes a bit below league average defensively. The leafs without him are +8% offensively and +9% defensively. The leafs are one of the best teams in the league when marner is on the ice. Hes also talented enough to outshoot his expected goals without it regressing.

Kane on the other hand is a net negative. +5% offensively and +23% defensively is atrocious. The Blackhawks are better when kane isnt on the ice. +4% offensively and +17% defensively is still very bad but they are better without him. At his cap hit they might get a 5th round pick for him but with what we know about aging curves a soon to be 32 year old winger who makes the Blackhawks (a team who is already bad) worse when best playing wont get much at all. You have to be really bad to make a team that bad worse</div></div>

You don’t seem to understand that a forward’s job is to score goals &amp; Kane is one of the best at doing that with multiple 40 goal seasons. No one cares if you don’t play defense as long as you’re scoring goals. All Marner does is earn secondary assists which is a worthless stat. Sure he generates more, but no one cares if you can’t put the puck in the net. Not to mention his playoff performances are abysmal too. Kane is the most feared Forward in the league &amp; a matchup nightmare for the opposition. Let’s not forget that Marner has scored at the same rate as Connor Brown over the last few seasons. That is beyond embarrassing.
