Jones is worth more but the Leafs can’t afford to give up more than just Nylander.

Nylander is a good start but not good enough. Dermott is almost a throw away for Columbus as we already have 5 other LHD who are as good or better then Dermott, the 1st is likely late 28-31. The second and the third don’t really do much for this trade. Oh and you want Anderson too, so take out the 2nd to equal his value.

As good as Savard is, I’m not 100% he or Peeke are true top pair defenseman, Jones is. Nylander is a top 6 wing for sure maybe a 2nd line center, but I haven’t watched him at center enough to know for sure.

No other team would offer so much for Jones. Really is Jones that much of difference maker? Hasn't been throughout his career. And what is Anderson? Four points in 26 games.

Dermott is good on his own side, but he’s not better then Werenski, Nuttivaara, Murray or Gavrikov as a LHD. Kukan, Harrington and Carlsson are all close to him. Again, it would be hard for him to get into the line up in Columbus as I still haven’t talked about Savard and Peeke in the group too.

Also Nylander isn’t a 1st line center. Don’t mistake yourself. Nylander is a 1st line wing but not a 1st line center.

How on Earth are Kukan and Harrington even remotely close to Dermott? He's way better than Gavrikov too... He's pretty similar to Nuttivaara but much younger and has more potential.

Nylander is just as good as PLD at center and he's good at taking draws too. I also never said Nylander is a 1st line center... but I consider PLD to be a high end 2C as well.

I think you need to watch more Leafs games cause you seriously undervalue some of our players.

I think you’re seriously overvaluing you’re players. I thought Dermott was 3rd pair LHD behind Rielly and Muzzin? That’s what Harrington and Kukan are. But they are also behind Gavrikov, Nuttivaara, Murray and Werenski. I’m not sure how you think he’s better then Gavrikov... Gavrikov played 2nd pair all year with Savard.

Nylander is a middle of the road 2nd line center. If we were a better center he’d play center more but then again you have Tavares and Matthews ahead of him. PLD is a 1st line center. He might not have the stats but he is.

You’re right I don’t watch many leaf games but the ones I watch Nylander is a wing. I think I saw him play center once and he was good, not this top end 2nd line center you say he is.

Every LHD on Columbus besides Werenski would be behind Rielly and Muzzin. How does Dermott being on the 3rd pair behind them mean he's a fringe NHLer.

Kukan (and probably Harrington too) would be buried in the Marlies if they were on the Leafs.

The reason why Nylander doesn't play center is because Matthews and Tavares are both high end 1Cs. Nylander at center is at the same level as PLD at center. I don't consider that 1C but if you do that's what he is.

I’m not going to argue with you... I just don’t see Dermott being that good. Dermott is a good 3rd pair guy just like Kukan is. Both are stuck behind better LHD in their own system. I also think Nylander is a better wing then a center. I think you’re also undervaluing the other d in Columbus. Gavrikov, Murray and Nuttivaara are all top 4 LHD and all played well in that role this year when they needed to. I do agree on most teams Dermott would be top 4 LHD for them. Columbus, Nashville, Toronto And Anaheim, I’m not sure he’d be top 4 on any of those teams. I also think Dermotts time in Toronto will be coming to an end shortly with Sandin coming quickly. He’s going to be a stud.

Okay you say Dermott is a 3rd pair guy like Kukan and then say that Dermott would be top 4 LHD on most NHL teams... If Dermott went to Columbus I'd bet money on him cracking the roster. He's undervalued because he was injured early this season. (Look at Nylander last season when he missed the start of the season)

I often see flashes of greatness when I watch Dermott he just needs a bit more time.

Kukan played great on the top pair earlier this year when Werenski was hurt. Granted he was with Jones but he still played well. I have a feeling Kukan like Dermott could be a top 4 defenseman in this league.

Nah not really. Nylander is a one dimensional player who relies heavily on Tavares, Dermott is trash & the picks aren’t worth much.
