This is a pretty bad over payment from Vancouver, Blues would be dumb not to take this. Canucks are dumb to add Brzustewicz. Let him cook first, if he doesn't look like he'll work out them move him while he still have value.

Canucks would do this if it was 2024 not 2025.
Penguins take it either way I'm guessing.

For an aging injury prone goalie, 3m/yr is fine. From a NJ perspective. But not from a Calgary perspective, I do not see them retaining 3m a year with term.

Pretty fair, but I argue the Canucks try to push Raty and maybe an extra piece then putting Lekkermaki in

Canucks fan and Canucks homer is different. Podz is far from being worth a late first or early second at this point in his career. He's a good 4th liner, a bad 3rd liner as his ceiling right now. Which is no where near what a 10th overall pick should have been... If Vancouver wanted a forward during that draft. Boldy, Caufield, and Krebs were all on the board still and taken shortly afterwards. Podz is a bust just accept that. Anyone without homer blinders will see that.

He's not anywhere near where a 10th overall pick should be 4 years after draft year. He may crack a bottom 6 at best in his career. He should not be in the AHL anymore in his draft +4 year...
He's probably not even worth a 3rd right now, and it gets worse the older he gets and the less likely it is he cracks the NHL roster.

While I argue this isn't trash, there is a lot of underwhelming pieces getting 2 legit top 4/top 6 guys.
Hoglander, 2024 first, Kuzmenko OR Myers(cap reasons), a top prospect or 2 in our system not named Wallinder, Lekkermaki, or Bruz.
Woo is probably at best a 6th rounder in value himself, Podz on a good day is a 3rd. The value just isn't there for the Flames on this one. Especially to a division rival, with using 2/3 retention slots.

Just ignore that kid. He literally has no idea how to put a realistic "fan" trade value on Canucks players. To him Kuzmenko is still 39 goal scorer, who on his own is worth a first rounder. And Podz and Raty are first round picks so they are worth first round picks.
It's 1 good piece(the first), 2 pretty serviceable pieces in Kuzy and Raty, and a project in Podz. Which I totally agree, this trade is bad for both teams. Anaheim would want something more like wallinder + Kuzy + 24 1st rnd pick. Though I argue they don't really bother for defenders right now, they are STACKED with young blueliners. And Vancouver doesn't really have much in the forward prospect pool. And Raty isn't enough to swing that.
Where Vancouver would want to probably only do 2 or 3 meh assets stapled to Kuzmenko

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>delete</b></div><div>ya kind of like Boeser.wow!!</div></div>
Boeser was dealing with a lot of personal demons, with his dads death, and his play style changed when Horvat was moved. Boeser became the shooter on his line, when he played with Horvat, he wasn't the shooter.
Boeser turning it around has nothing to do with a bounce back, it's the coaching/player/mental change. Kuzmenko wont improve to his 39 goal pace again on this team. He's not getting younger, he doesn't fore check hard, and he doesn't fit Toc's system. He needs a change of scene.

Ek is worth about around 2 firsts and a roster player at best..
Hoggy would fetch a late first or early second on his own. Brzustewicz has been top 3 in OHL scoring all year, he's definitely got fair value around a middle second.
Kuzmenko(mostly cap in cap out), Podz, Brzu and the 1st. Is more than fair for Ek

This is the average cost of a top line winger. And if Vancouver wants to improve their top 6 thats what it takes.
Kuzmenko is almost a lock on being moved, due to his cap hit.
And Kuzmenko will not bounce back, he's had the whole season to do so, he hasn't.

As a rental, it's fair. If he resigns, Canucks make out like bandits. Legit first liner for someone who has been bad this year, a average level prospect and what I hope is 32nd overall.
