That's not getting Hanifin. It'll take something more like Tampa's 2026 1st + Ethan Gauthier or Isaac Howard. Hanifin going with an extension in place or having already told Tampa he will extend with them.

Sorry Canucks fans Its happening
I’d offer a 2nd and a prospect like Klimovich/McDonough max. If we’re trading a 1st it should be as part of a package for a high end rental (like Guentzel) or a player with term (like Buchnevich or JEE)

van get the 2C
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hitagi_Senpai</b></div><div>Sorry but this is really not fair value on Nelson.
We're looking at Kuzy + 1 st most likely. Center, producing very well. For a winger who is not producing at all. Scratched a lot etc~</div></div>
Kuzmenko and a late 1st is of no interest to the Islanders. They just hired Roy and will definitely wait until the deadline at least before doing anything except adding.
Nelson would be worth a 1st, Kuzmenko and a top young prospect near NHL readiness or in his first year or two, if I was Lou. Starting point. A prospect who can step in and replace Nelson's value quickly. Something the Canucks don't have from my point of view.
If you were talking Nelson to the Jets for Cole Perfetti and a late 1st, on the other hand .... that would be closer to what it would take.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>delete</b></div><div>ya lets give up our top prospect, a 1st and dump kuz,for a guy that wont play defence, but can do the michigan.</div></div>
it's called coaching, the last 2 seasons everyone was saying that about JT Miller and now he's a fully rounded 1C top 5 scoring going for over a 100 points
But people would need to have some kind of brain damage to give up on Zegras and Canucks should go get him if he is available to trade for as he is cost controlled for 2 more seasons just as the OEL cap penalties settle down so able to resign and play 2C when the lotto line is together

Meets the requirements of one of Reinhacher or Slafkovsky. We'd take Armia's contract to make the money work.

Realistic 2C Rental for VAN while keeping Kuz
Personally I’d rather target someone better than Monahan, whether it’s a center to keep the Lotto Line together or a winger and putting Miller back to center. Guentzel, Lindholm, Novak, Tarasenko, Giroux, Buchnevich, Henrique, etc are guys I’d target first

That would be the rental fees for an player like him. I would imagine that Lindholm would probably feltch something around this kind of trade.
This could be an good idea for Pittsburgh to use Guentzel as rental get asset back and resign him in summer if the team is not going to be competitive for playoff.

Canucks get a true second line center
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Augustus</b></div><div>Do the Canucks (or maybe Canucks fans) just not trust J.T. Miller to be as good as he has been going into the next seasons ahead? He's on pace for 100 points or at least close, that's a pretty good 2nd line center if you ask me. All the J.T. hate tossed around during the offseason appears to have been unjustified (I was doing it too, at least questioning the guy).
The Canucks should upgrade the wing first before center. If Kuzmenko isn't working out, then after Boeser the next best guy is Mikheyev? I think they want another scoring winger, which is why Guentzel has been linked to them in rumors.</div></div>
It's so they can run lotto line

Draft day move if EP wont resign before FA
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hitagi_Senpai</b></div><div>I think it would be an underwhelming return anyways. If he makes it clear he's not resigning, we have almost no swing in trade talks. Look at the Tkachuk to Florida trade. That return then seemed lackluster to some, and has been looking like that now a full season removed.</div></div>
Good comparison. The extra year of team control with Tkachuk is what made the return as good as it was and Pettersson is in a similar situation now. The Tkachuk return wasn't all that bad, nobody expected Huberdeau to be so bad so soon. What made it bad was Treliving overpaying to extend Huberdeau, he should have flipped Huberdeau. Then again Bonehead Brad had already offered the same contract to little johnny and he shouldn't have offered him that much money either.
