Leafs Big Off-Season Moves
I can't imagine Tavares would waive to go to a team who's likely to end bottom 5 again next season rather than stay in Toronto and compete lol.

Bruins Post Marchand
So I'm not seeing either Bussi or DiPietro as someone whom you groom to be a starter and Dyck just turned 20, so he is three years away assuming he keeps progressing. Portillo is about a year away and has a 7 year track record of blowing up shooters at all levels. He dovetails nicely with Ullmark's inevitable fade as he ages out.
If Sway were to move, then you're totally right that having a good goalie prospect coming back to eventually take over for Ullmark would make sense.

24-25 Leafs Look Ahead I
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hockey_Hippy</b></div><div>At the beginning of the season Villeneuve alternated between having happy feet and deer in the headlights eyes.. That was the big bugaboo in his game. Size, skating, vision, shot, compete, the rest was there. But now the panic in his game has vanished. He is confident out there now. I think at the end of the day, you are looking at a Liljegren clone, a defenseman who is above average across the board but has no one thing that is outstanding.</div></div>
Thanks for your insight.

Tampa Bay, Vegas, Boston, Edmonton are all contenders in far worse shape than Toronto cap wise. They currently sit 16th according to Cap Friendly in terms of cap.</div></div>
you’re probably the only sensible person i’ve came into contact while discussing toronto on this app, are you a fan? i’m not sure but regardless i appreciate the intellectual insight, you’re wasting your time arguing with mokumbi, he’s way too big of a st. louis diehard to ever see anything outside of his painted st. louis sunglasses. he thinks parayko is still the same as he was at 26.

Leafs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bennecon</b></div><div>That’s gunna be the market value for Bert, apparently he’s looking for more. Idk if u watched the playoffs but comparing Barbashev to kerfoot is crazy, he is a much more useful and effective player was great in the playoffs and last year had 60 points in the regular season.
Goalie aren’t ideal but apparently some insiders think vladar will be a starting goalie and apparently Tree likes him, so idk. It’s definitely not good tho.
And Brodie looked like he was slowing down so move off him before he walks.</div></div>
Kerfoot had 51 last year. Barbashev had 60 last year but 45 this year and before last year never had more than 26. Which is the exception? He's been a borderline 4th liner until last year. He's going to be way overpaid
And if that is the asking price on Bertuzzi hard pass.
In the last 3 years
Barbashev 270 gp 58 g 143 pts
Kerfoot 285 gp 40 g 134 pts
Jarnkrok 252 gp 60 g 131 pts
So kerfoot is the worst goal scorer. But they aren't far off from each other overall. Yes barbashev is more physical. And yes he's the better player. But he isn't THAT much better that we should go out of our way to pay him way more for way more term

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hockey_Hippy</b></div><div>My feeling is there is more value to be had investing in some of the lesser lights of free agency. Bertuzzi and Barbashev are the headliners and will be overpaid. Connor Brown, Jonathon Toews are far better bangs for the buck. Even Tarasenko is a better bet than the first two because he at least has the pedigree of being a dominant offensive force they do not.
I can understand moving on from Brodie but you are not getting enough for him and you had better be replacing him with something that works. I'm not seeing that in either Schenn or Peeke. If you take him out of the top six you need to be adding someone who does what he does but with more thump.</div></div>
I'm all for being brown back. Loved the guy

Understand. Thank you. If that is the price than I don't think LA can make a deal with picks only. Maybe a deal around Grundstrum for Samsonov would work better

Non leaf fans love to dump on leaf players (jealous of all the media attention I guess) but Brodie is an excellent dman, same aav as Hanifin and they’re both pending FAs. Insane overpay for what is essentially a lateral move 🤦🏻

Not a bad thought process on the moves and signings. The caveat to Muzzin to.waive his NTC is a nice sweetner that may actually happen. If not to NJ then another team in need of a steady LD. Sandin will sign for more than.1.4 but the above scenarios make room for that. You are not far off.

The Leafs have invested a lot in those two. They aren't moving on from them. One year of J.T. Miller is worth neither of them, let alone both.
Also not sure what the Subban love in is all about. I've seen him signed on the last four Leaf teams I've looked at. The dude cannot play. Simply cannot. Can Not.</div></div>
For about 5 yrs now Subban has been more worried about what his outfit looks like than playing hockey. He's a # 8/9 d-man on most teams.

You either think that Gibson solves your goaltending problems for 5 years, or you don't. If you do, this is an entirely reasonable package for him, and one that Anaheim should strongly consider.
