Getting a 3rd for a guy that didn't want to sign
I think he's a pretty overrated goalie prospect. Meh stats on an absolutely stacked team.

(STL/MIN/TOR) - O'Reilly, Acciari for Pillar for Abramov, Gaudette, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hollands_missing_brain</b></div><div>Well to your point, if we extended it back. The leafs haven't used a 1st rd pick since 2020 so kinda adds fuel to the fire. But at the end of the day, it's funny which ever team just disregards their future to win now and still get thrashed in the postseason. I know most team in win now mode do that but there are degrees in which some turn wreckless. This could be one if they can't right the ship and they lose Matthews.</div></div>
Predictions are impossible but Matthews is competitive. My guess is he's more likely to stay if the team shows it's trying to win than being more cautious.
I have dislikes many of our deadline moves (Foligno the most, but also Plekanec) but this one I think is a reasonable gamble. Maybe it's because I see him as resignable.

Buffalo Sabres signed Dylan Cozens (7 Years / $7,100,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sammy1414</b></div><div>good signing but Sabres are gonna be in some cap trouble in 2 years ...... resigning Dahlin, Power.... hopefully Krebs & Quinn don't get too good too fast...... then there's that unmovable Skinner contract and still don't have a goalie with term</div></div>
They'll be fine

Thread:
(CGY/MTL) - Monahan, conditional 2025 1st for future considerations
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KSIxSKULLS</b></div><div>It's not really possible to have a bad contract when there's only 1 year left. Right now I consider Monahan having positive value because he can be traded at the TD at 50% retained for assets. Same with Dadonov.</div></div>
Unless Monahan (or I guess Dadonov as well) has a circa-2018 bounce back, I really don’t see that happening. Cap space is so limited right now, a lot of deals involving this kind of hit are going to require brokers, which means more assets, or diminished assets.
I think he’s <a href="https://mobile.twitter.com/JFreshHockey/status/1560315833750097927" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">fairly clearly</a> a negative asset, or maybe a <a href="https://cdn.theathletic.com/app/uploads/2022/04/19113948/Screen-Shot-2022-04-19-at-11.03.02-AM.png" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">below average</a> one at best, considering the cap hit.
But MTL is a rebuilding team that is probably going to be bad this year, has a lot of money to spare, and can fit his cap hit for one year. With all that in mind, even if Monahan doesn’t play well, you basically bought a 1st for $6M. Good for MTL.

(CBJ/SEA) - Bjorkstrand for 2023 3rd and 4th RD picks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FanOfAllTeams</b></div><div>Beautiful response. All these wankers aren’t paying attention to these thing it I do love this deal on both ends as you said. You know we have spoke on here before and we respect each other because we know what we are talking about. Hats off to you.</div></div>
You guys aren't geniuses by being contrarians. Your thinking is akin to thinking the Flyers did no wrong when they didnt offer a contract to Gaudreau.. Johnny wanted to sign there. The Flyers boxed them in a corner by mismanaging the cap. Sound familiar in Columbus?
By your logic, the lack of cap space wasn't their mistake despite Fletcher saying as much??! That is the Flyers fault for mismanaging the cap the same as it's the fault of Jarmo for dumping Bjorky for this meagre return. Did they have a choice. Debatable.. but clearly, this was avoidable much like the Gaudreau situation. Managing the cap means many things including foreseeing the team building

To me a plug is basically a filler, When you plug in people say like Suter, Leddy, Namestnikov they're fillers until the kids are ready.
