Does make sense, because I think both pairings would see a similar amount of ice time, with the bump in Schultz's minutes coming through the power play.

another Carolina trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>IceDragon</b></div><div>Trading away Olli Määttä makes the defense worse. Replace him with Matt Hunwick going to Carolina.</div></div>
I don't think that deal gets done then. If so then I would trade Hunwick hands down before Maatta but I dont think Carolina will take a cap dump in Hunwick unless Sprong is heading to Carolina as well. I would rather keep Sprong at this point than Maatta. Also there are replacements for Maatta I don't think he is as untouchable as he once was.

2018-2019: Ryan O'Reilly
Please don't trade O'Reilly unless it's a VERY clear win for the Sabres. The guys does everything. Guys like that can't be replaced easily and that's why other teams have interest. BOT's would have to see a young NHL player or a prospect, a high draft pick, and maybe something else on top of that. (If Carolina, Jeff Skinner and a 1st or 2nd rounder and a prospect sounds about right)

2018-2019: Defensemen
All UFAs can go. First pair: 1) Risto 2) Scandella. Second pair:3) Dahlin 4) Bogosian Third Pair: 5) McCabe 6) Guhle 7) Best of the Rest (and the pipeline is fully stocked now!!!)
If we can get a good year (healthy) out of Bogo maybe we can pick up and asset or 1st round pick (wishful) in a trade. Same goes for Scandella, think he's great but if others develop to fill the gap we can build the team in a trade. BOTs is smart, build you're team around the best centerman (check), defense (check) and goaltending (not even close at the moment). Wingers are the easiest position to get in trades, so I'm not worried.
Next order of business...........Goaltending.

Shnooks' Sabres 2018 Roster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>IceDragon</b></div><div>Lehner and Ullmark can be starters in the National Hockey League. The Sabres' plan has been Lehner filling a need with Ullmark developing. The next step of the plan is for Ullmark to show what he has learned with Rochester and the American Hockey League with a permanent promotion to the National Hockey League.
The market for available goaltenders is thin this year. The Sabres will need to address their backup goaltender as Ullmark will be the starting goaltender. Should Lehner be expendable, the Sabres should receive calls of interest.</div></div>
That's why I think Hutton is a perfect backup...he knows his role and he's good at it.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>IceDragon</b></div><div>The Sabres are among the teams in need of improving their goaltenders. They have goaltenders in place up to the draft and the opening of free agency. Some goaltenders are in need in changes of scenery to prolong their careers, or have reached a point their careers in the National Hockey League are over.</div></div>
I don't argue that, but I don't think they want to keep Lehner...they want someone new, someone who can be a mentor to Ullmark.
They want someone who will accept a backup role...Lehner wants to be a starter.
(*I like Lehner, I've supported him and rooted for him his whole time in Buffalo...but it's not my choice who stays or goes.)

Conor Sheary
i dont know about sprong .. sully has had multiple opportunities to call up sprong and called up aston-reese simon 1st. i dont think sprong lasts i think he gets traded along with sheary and hunwick. jordy bellerive almost made it onto roster last year. if the auto accident wasnt severe i think he has a good chance to make the team this year but that still leaves us in dire need of at least 2 d-men nothing in the pipeline even remotely nhl ready. no idea who we should even look at for bottom 6... carolina may be a good place to look for d-depth. double cup hangover finally that and zero puck luck. hopefully with a long summer the pens will be refreshed and ready. the pipeline has been wrung dry with all the trades. need to start looking ahead to the future to a certain extent. keeping draft picks.

He wins faceoffs, kills penalties and has some grit to him. He is also cheap. Buffalo is taking money back in the trade too.

I just didn't re-sign or qualify him, but I'd probably try to trade them to somewhere like the Islanders, Flyers or another goalie-needy team.
I just found this, so I was just messing around seeing what the Sabres' roster could look like...I haven't finished dabbling with this quite yet.

thats what im saying, i think he’s actually a decent goaltender and have yet to see the best of him. i do however think his time in Buffalo is up, hes a Tim murray guy and i think Botterill will look for a new starter or a stop gap til Ullmark or UPL are ready for starting duties. may as well trade his rights to a goaltender needy team and get something in return. a ROR lehner package deal with carolina i think is perfect for both teams. i believe lehner would beat out scott darling in carolina for the starting Goalie spot

Marc Bergevin Plan
So Jack Johnson goes from being a healthy scratch to being a 4.6 million dollar top pairing defencmen. And Montreal this is why Montreal will won't win the cup for at least ten years. The fan base is completely against a rebuild, mainly because they think Price will win them the cup. He won't. The Habs are going nowhere fast, why would Tavares take a max deal (There will be at least 2 other teams who can also offer a max deal to him. Vancouver and Vegas for sure.) And both of those teams are either much better already (Vegas) or have a lot of top end prospects coming soon (Vancouver).
As a one time Habs fan (my dad's favourite team so I want them to do well), the Habs need to start over. Trade everyone they have on their roster other than Drouin and start over.
