Sandin replaces Reilly next season
No interest in Engvall, Kerfoot
Only take Rielly if you are dumping him
Severson stays
Devils decline, but could counter offer for just one d-man

Sandin replaces Reilly next season
I don't mean to be rude but that is a very very easy no from NJ. Kerfoot is a decent player imo but he plays a position NJ is stacked in with young talent. Also Devils drafted him and he left as a college FA so I don't think the organization has any interest in him. So he's basically not in the equation. Engvall is....eh? Devils have tons of their own young players on LW who are better than him or have the potential to be. Top 4 LW's on NJ right now are Zacha, Bratt, Sharangovich, Wood. If one of those guys plays on the right (which usually happens) they have Kuokkanen, Nolan Foote, Andreas Johnsson. I would rather any of those guys than Engvall (maybe with the exception of Johnsson which ain't saying much) so he is basically of no value for NJ.
Which means the only piece coming back of value is Morgan Rielly. And while I really like that player there is no planet where he is worth Miles Wood and Damon Severson. Wood was the leading goalscorer on a team that can't score goals and plays that mix of grinder/fighter/skill that every team seems to want. Severson is by far NJ's best defenseman at the moment and pretty much the only good RD here long term. Devils have some potential on the left with Ty Smith, Kevin Bahl, Nikita Okhotyuk, Shakir Mukhmodoullin. The right is weak. After Severson it's Subban (one more year) and....not much.
Add in contracts and NJ simply can't do this deal. Severson is signed to a team friendly deal for 2 more seasons. Wood is still young enough he gets RFA status so no worries about losing him. Rielly expires after next season, a season where NJ will almost definitely not be competing for the Cup. And then he gets a big new contract on the market which the Devils might not even be interested in bidding on. Simply put, can't trade 2 huge future pieces for a guy who will probably either sign somewhere else or decline by the time the Devils are competing.
Alllllllllllll that said, I am not completely against a Rielly trade to NJ if the circumstances were right. Severson is an absolute no but if TOR wanted to talk about a deal with Rielly and Wood as the centerpieces NJ would probably listen.

Reinhart
I would say add about $1 million to the money you’re paying Reinhart there. Not sure that trade gets it done anyway, as a division opponent you’re paying a higher price than other teams.

Reinhart at 1C is pretty much equivalent to the failed Domi at center experiment. It's a bad, bad idea.

Hey Josh, the Zibanejad trade and Eichel trade look similar. So why wouldn't the Golden Knights just trade for Eichel

Pittsburgh has no need for Drouin with Guentzel, McCann and Zucker and I doubt they would want to give up Poulin.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PeterK</b></div><div>I agree on the lines. I didn't realize I messed that up.
Giroux is from Ottawa and might want to go back for the last couple yearas of his career and help a young team take the next step. Ottawa will be good next year, I think they will be a playoff contender.</div></div>
I agree that Ottawa could/should/would make the playoffs next season with the addition of Giroux. And you're not wrong, hometown boy, exciting young team... but Giroux might be more inclined to take a pay cut and go play with the AVS or something. It would just be too much for Ottawa to give up the 1st rounder if Giroux wouldn't sign and we were forced to move him at the deadline. I'm just doing some math on where we'd be if we extended him for 3 years...

I don’t even know why you are fighting this, it’s just a bad trade. They already went out and traded Hornqvist for Matheson, an offensive Dman. And now you think they should part with a former 1st rounder, a 1st round pick for Rielly who they will have to try and resign. 😂

one of the best teams in 2 years
For Werenski, based on age, years of control, and overall stats, ability and potential, it would start with at least Turcotte or Byfield, and probably an A prospect (if Turcotte is the centerpiece) or a B prospect (if Byfield) and a 1st.

Wild Build
Soucy is a fine d-man and all, but MN wins this pretty easy.
Just in value it's a 2nd (say 50oa) + Soucy (2nd/3rd) + Lodnia (AHL depth player). Greenway is worth more than that. Dumba is worth way more than that. Heck Foligno is worth more than that.
Assuming JEE and Fiala are protected along with the NMCs; if I was SEA My order of players I'd want from MN (not knowing which protection route they go): Dumba, Greenway, goalie, Foligno, Soucy/Hartman (depending on how redundant they are to the other 29 picks).
I've been thinking lately if MN exposes Kähkönen he'll be the player picked by SEA. An Allen (MTL)/Kähkönen combo could really do a lot for SEA in net for short and long term.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>koremoo</b></div><div>Difference is Suter is considered one of the best American dmen of all time. I don't think his value comes from his career necessarily because he has had a similar career to Weber's. It's his importance to his country. However, even then, he is a better dman all time than Weber. With injuries and consistency, Suter is far and away a better dman over his career.</div></div>
Countries don't really matter. Sandis Ozoliņš didn't get any special treatment because he was the best player his country produced.
He wouldn't be the best American defenseman over Chelios, Leetch or Housley.
As for the Weber comparison, Suter actually started to slow down first. They both have multiple years left. Not sure what makes a Suter a better defenseman at all.
