Not sure if I would do it if you swapped the Islanders pick to yours

Why would CBJ make that trade? Elvis is expansion exempt so it would be easy for them to protect Korpisalo. They certainly should not sell low on him especially if that is all they would be getting.

Cool. Devils don’t get Tkachuk then.

And you know they would trade Hughes for tkachuk. Cmon.

No way they do Hughes for Tkachuk. Centers are more valuable than wingers and Hughes will become better than Tkachuk in a few years.

Ya, but better players are more valuable than not as good players.

And oh. Will he now. Just curious, since you seem to have time traveling abilities, can you tell me the lotto numbers for this week?

I think you’ve got a bit too much of the blind loyalty going on. It’s a theme with your posts. Jack Hughes looked better this year, but the guys still under a half point per game for his career.

Here would be a reasonable person statement: Jack Hughes has made a lot of progress in his development this year, and I think it’s a sign that he’ll really continue to develop, and may surpass Tkachuk someday.

Blind loyalist wacky statement: Hughes will become better than tkachuk in a few years.

I agree with your statement. I didn't mean to sound biased but I do think Hughes will develop quickly and surpass Tkachuk soon

The only blind one here is you my friend. Clearly you haven't watched a single Devils game this year if you think NJ would even consider moving Hughes for Tkachuk.

The problem with your argument is that you're just scoreboard watching, failing to acknowledge the fact that Hughes is already a top 5 transition player in the league, leads the league in takeaways, has positive Corsi every night, leads the Devils in shot contributions by a mile every single game. He's also hit more posts than anybody, his numbers don't reflect how good he's been this season.

Jack's exceptional skating ability, vision, and creativity put his ceiling extremely high. Ask anybody who knows what they're talking about, they'll tell you that he has the potential to be a top 15 player in the league.

Ahhhhh well i just don’t care about corsi. I’ve probably watched a dozen devils games this year. Hughes has looked much better than last year. Big time improvement. I totally agree that Hughes has the potential to be a top 15 forward in the league. Tkachuk is awesome.

Hahahahah wow you are clueless

What else could the devils possibly offer for tkachuk that would get Calgary to the point of saying yes? If you’re just going to laugh and talk about how clueless i am it should be really easy to show why

Tkachuk is tough to surpass though. The guy does absolutely everything and there’s some elements of his game that Hughes won’t be able to develop. I know everyone hates marchand, but imagine adding a 6’2” marchand thats 23. I don’t think tkachuk is done developing either.

I don’t think you get Tkachuk without a better main piece. That package is quantity over quality which just doesn’t get it done imho. Obv Nico and Hughes are non starters. But I feel like Calgary would want Holtz or the better first round pick. I’d prefer to be patient and see what Holtz looks like on NHL ice. I could go either way on that draft pick. Depends on how much they like who’s there when they pick. Matthew is due a raise on his 7 million per. I’m not saying he isn’t worth it but cap space matters

Bratt is 2 years younger and scoring at a better clip this season, top 5 pick this year, Dawson Mercer, the Isles 1st... wouldn't give all of that obviously but those are a few legitimate pieces outside of Hughes that I'm sure CGY would want

This is Matthew tkachuk we’re talking about. He’s their franchise cornerstone

and because he's been labelled their "franchise cornerstone" his value is raised artificially? even if that is the case, Hughes is the face of the Devils franchise lol

No. Because he’s their franchise cornerstone the bunch of quantity over quality you threw out in your proposal isn’t even worthy of getting the front office to meet about it.
