Wahlstrom will be on Barzals wing this season, he is not easily replaceable. Trading Wahlstrom when the isles lack shooting talent makes no sense.

Andrew Ladd at 5.5 for two more years didn’t even cost a 1st. No way 3 mil, 1 year cost a 1st for a serviceable player, especially when Isles don’t need to free up capspace. He’s absolutely overpaid and should only play 4th line minuted and pk, but come on.

NYI has no need for a 1st pair LHD, they have pelech. they need a 2LHD, and they don't have a clear successor to pulock as the 1RD at this time. doesn't make sense for the islanders at all.

Leafs - Isles
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HollywoodHudon</b></div><div>How is Pulock better? Best season was 3 yrs ago when he racked up 37 pts. Less than half a point a game. Same season he had his bets +/- year of + 21, the following year... +8 last year +15
Rielly has been .6 PPG or better for the past 4 years and has been a plus player for the past 3 - +24, +6, +11
How is Pulock "better"?
Both have the same cap hit, and both are expiring contracts at the end of this year. NYI needs help on the left side but has depth on the right. The Leafs have depth on the left and need help on the right.
Win-Win situation for both teams. 3 firsts and Rielly for Pulock? Good lord... SMH
As for moving Brodie to the left side... Why exactly? He may be a left shot, but he has played RD basically his entire career. And if he DID get moved to LD... who goes to the right? Dermott? please he is better off on LD where he is most comfortable, leave Brodie and his YEARS of experience "playing the wrong side" just where he is.</div></div>
Rielly can’t defend, he has one of the worst impacts in the league. Pulock has a top 15 defensive impact among all Dmen over the last 3 years.
Rielly is slightly better than Pulock offensively - points don’t tell the whole story, Rielly plays with much better finishers. Overall Pulock has been the better defenseman over the past two seasons.

It is not based on Patrick Bacons info? No, I get that, but you also said Wahlstrom was marginally better, I dont agree at all, thats it. And numbers back that up, Dubé had an solid season this year, but compared to Wahlstrom much lower WAR and compared to their rookie seasons its night and day - you have to expect some solid development in Wahlstroms game, combined with increased QOT and TOI.
And if you dont believe the stats I previously showed for, feel free to look it up yourself from his Patreon. Because I literally wrote down what his models showed. :)

Simple eyetest. Keep up with the analytic community, which are flawed in some ways, but more accurate than something else when trying do understand players value. Compare Wahlstrom and Dubés player cards at JFresh. I haven’t said he’s an elite player either, but already a very good one. And certainly much better than Dubé.

No, not in the Isles trade. Gaudreau as an UFA fetching Wahlstrom a 1st and Mayfield is way to much, saying otherwise is just homerism.

Not like you guys wont have the cap space next year to resign Gaudreau</div></div>
If it comes with a extension sure, the value will be higher. They are very different as players, but have a look at Wahlstroms impact numbers playing in a pretty sheltered role, he was brilliant with a WAR of 84%. Playing with Barzal can make him score 30 goals next year, easily and that’s not biased. I don’t think he will though. I love Gaudreau but as an UFA, I wouldn’t have done that trade.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>Here's how I see it, Lou doesnt trade for players he doesnt think he can extend (unless they are depth guys that can be replaced), 2 years in a row Lou gave up pretty big packages for some really solid players, none of those players were Gaudreau level good though. So a package like Wahlstrom + a 1st would have to be the base at least for Gaudreau IMO (again assuming extension since its Lou). Flames wouldnt do that though as it really doesnt help them
Wahlstrom is a solid young player but he's more of a 2nd or 3rd line guy, kinda like Dube for us</div></div>
I agreed on everything you said until your last sentence haha. No man, Wahlstrom is not a 3rd line guy and don’t compare him to Dillon Dubé please. If you think so, please do some research on Wahlstrom. All good!

Finishing off the Roster
Rutherford is a moron. Beauvillier confirmed in an interview a few days ago that he will be back with the islanders and a contract should be announced soon.
Tarasenko is damaged goods and Scandella is a #6 D. It is hilarious that Blues fans think that acquiring Beauvillier is realistic

Defenseman do not control shooting % - you’re putting too much weight into points. You can be elite at driving offense , but if the forwards can’t finish that’s the defensemans fault.
