Which contract? I know you're not referring to Vlasic. If so you have absolutely no clue what you're talking about.

I'm trying to understand how you think a 28 year old minor leauger is worth a 5th round pick to a rebuilding team. In what world does that make sense?

Lol good catch. Still a no from me. We couldn't wait to dump his slow butt last time he was here.

I doubt the Hawks would spend draft capital on a LD that can sometimes play the right side. They'll look for a RD in free agency or use Kaiser/Crevier on the right side if necessary. Not saying Kulak is bad, just that he's a bad fit for the team.

I can almost guarantee Tinordi and Zaitsev won't be back and there's a good chance Entwistle won't be back either. That Fischer signing isn't too bad but it's a little more than he's worth imo. I'm not sold on the Barabanov signing though. Maybe they bring in a Russian vet to play with Kantserov when his deal ends in the KHL bit right now its just wasting a roster spot. They're going to need a RD but it'll be someone Richardson trusts and Zaitsev isn't that guy. I also think they'll bring in a top six guy. Probably a C/RW. I'd love Kane back but that's probably not going to happen.

For one year? If Toronto can get JT to waive I think Chicago might take him for FC. He still has value and Chicago needs top six guys. Tavares fits that box.

going forward
Just a suggestion but you could send Hamonic down and his entire cap hit goes with him. His buyout is only $367k for two years if you wanted to go that route as well. For a two round move up I'd do this if I were Chicago. They can use him as a 7th defenseman or one of the two options I mentioned above. My advice would be to save the draft capital and eat the contract.

I believe your assessment of Turcotte's value is way off. On top of that I don't believe Chicago would have any interest in him. Especially at that price.

Go Caps
Kuemper may have value to some team but it's not Chicago. They already have Mrazek locked up for the next two seasons and they're working towards growing their goaltending from within. Suzdalev has regressed but he's still young but his value isn't enough to pay for dumping Kuemper, which Chicago would view as a pure cap dump.

That's not quite right. There's no guarantee he wins a Cup in Detroit but he does still have team records to smash in Chicago. Plus his in-laws are there and the house he just bought. Not saying it happens but I'd put the odds just north of 50%.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Kovacevic and Richardson have a great relationship in Montreal? Sounds like this could be a win-win if he was included with a 2nd for Dach.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kyle_Davidson</b></div><div>Yeah, these kind of quality vs quantity trades don’t occur with prospects like Dach. Theres not many comparables, and obviously the jabs fans want him because his last name is Dach, but if they want him I’m going to stick with an overpayment price of a first round pick.
For the record I think Colton Dach will be a better pro than Kirby Dach, not as skilled, but more effective in what is likely a middle six role. I think he makes the team next year on a third line role.</div></div>
The issue with Colton is he's proving to be just as fragile as his brother and plays a more physical game. Not a recipe for longevity as a pro. I hope I'm wrong.

I think they're so infatuated with Xhekaj that it would take a gross overpayment to get him. I was thinking Kovacevic instead and extending him immediately. Dach may end up lost in the mix in the next few years anyways with the college and junior players making the leap.

Gignac and Norlinder would be of zero interest to Chicago and Ylönen is just a guy at this point that'll never crack a legit top six. So essentially the trade is Dach for a 2nd and 5th which seems decent value. Chicago is high on him but he has the same issues his brother has with staying healthy. When he is healthy though he's a very effective power forward. I don't hate this trade minus the three players headed Chicago's way but I think they decline in hopes that Dach can stay healthy.

I think there's a better chance that Jones just simply doesn't get qualified and then signs for under a million. I could be wrong but I just don't see much value there and definitely not worth his QO or Calgary's 5th. Especially to Chicago who has more bottom six players than they have bottom six roster spots available.

He wasn't that good last time he was here though. Fans in Chicago couldn't wait to get rid of him. On top of that we have no need for him so if Chicago were to acquire him, they'd value him as a cap dump and require additional assets.
Many times when we say it'll cost to dump someone here, it's because there's really no spot for him so his value to the organization is zero or less. That doesn't mean every team would value him the same. It's somewhat akin to saying "find another team".
