Oh I agree, and I pulled for them against the Pens, thought they could take it. They had/have some overpriced guys, but a good prospect pool so hopefully, they will turn it around sooner rather than later. I didn't love the Hertl trade(thought they'd get more), but they seem to be on the right track. Tampa I'm sure would pay a 4th or so to move Sheary, but not both. Jeannot only has one year left so I'm sure Tampa could get something positive for him, even if just a mod round pick.

Nah, been a fan since the team started. The Sharks failed to win when they were good, and now they are cellar dwellers. Maybe next time they get good things will be different(one can dream)! As I mentioned in the preface to this lineup, the trade.destinatuons didn't matter as much, but the values were reasonable.

They might have to pay a 4th to move Sheary, and Jeannot is worth a couple of mid to late picks. They'll probably move them in separate deals anyway, but this return is not out of range.

You speak for all L.A. fans do you? The fact remains that some saw a trade for Moore for Cirelli as plausible. If Roy isn't re-signing then Tampa would be interested in hos signing rights, and Kaliyev isn't needed if that's an issue or Tampa can toss a small piece.

Do you really think the penguins are rushing in to take a guy who's done nothing in 2 years?
The only thing I see here is a player who blocks the path to the penguins actually using their prospects who are probably more capable of generating offense for the penguins.
You might want to try a team like SJS who needs forwards. The penguins have very few open roster spots coming into the season. What they need to fill those spots isn't a guy who generates 7 goals a year.</div></div>
As I mentioned, it doesn't have to be the Pens, ans for one year left, Tampa will be able to get a small return. Change of scenery moves aren't uncommon. Tampa does improve overall because they need the cap space, not because Jeannot is necessarily worthless. They won't be paying to move him.

If they want to improve the team, they will move him for what they can get. Not every big swing connects, and sometimes, for the good of the team, you take the L and move forward. There are different roster moves and configurations that can improve Tampa for next year, but none of them include Jeannot.

Putting Motte, Eyssemont, Chaffee, Glendenning into that bottom 6 with Paul helped them with their penalty kill , faceoffs and depth.</div></div>
I mostly agree, but in addition to Sheary, I would look to move on from Jeannot and Perbix as well. It gives the team around 17.5 for 8 players. They could go out and get a solid top 4 RD, which they badly need. In addition, they can keep Stamkos and fill in the bottom 6 as needed with Syracuse promotions and cheap ufa signings. They likely lose Duclair or any other top 6 ufa F option, but would still have enough left over in most scenarios to add a ~3 million middle 6 F with upside to play on the 2nd line. Unless they move Cirelli(which, depending on the return is an option worth exploring due to their C depth), this is about the best they can do to improve the area that needs it the most( the blueline), as well as not sacrificing greatly on offense

Yeah, if Stamkos at 2C isn't what they want, then sure moove Paul to 2C and try Finley out at 3C, or depending on other contract values, they could sign/trade for a cheaper one(maybe someone like Dowd).

It works for Tampa, as long as the Roy extension came in at the right price. Roy is the top 4 RD they very much need to add, Moore is comparable tinwhat they'll have tompay Duclaor ormanother ufa F of the same quality, and Kaliyev should be a relatively cheap add tonghe.bottom 6. It's actually a pretty good deal for Tampa. They can still run Point-Stamkos-Paul down the middle in this case as well.

I'd rather move Perbix in this scenario and move Serg to the right, then use the extra space on a better F than Noesen, but if they did roll with this, Perbix should be on a very short leash. He was pretty terrible this past season, so if it'wasnt just a sophomore slump, he needs to be out of the lineup, quickly..

Depending on what the value is on Roy's next contract, in theory it works for Tampa. Moore becomes the top 6 add in place of keeping Duclair, Kaliyev shouldn't be very expensive and could do well in the bottom 6, and Roy is the main prize of course. It would all depend on what Tampa extended Roy at, as the trade only works with an extension in place.

Controversial trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Maniaked</b></div><div>We have a good center depth because of Cirelli. Stamkos does not play at center anymore because he lacks defensively, Paul is good as a 3rd line center, but I can't really see him higher. Also, Cirelli has great term on his contract, trading him for Andersson who has 2 years left makes no sens. We also have Sergachev coming back, this will be a big improvement on the defence. The defence is still an issue, but we don't need to create a center issue to fix it.</div></div>
Yes, because Sergachev is great on defense...Serg coming back isn't fixing any deficiencies in their own end, as he still makes far too many dumb mistakes to be paid what he's paid. He brings a good amount of offense, but since he won't be on PP1, it even somewhat limits that ceiling.
As far as term, by the time Anderson would be due a new deal, the cap is going to.likely be near 100 million, so extending him wouldn't be the issue. Again, Tampa can roll.a very good center package of Point-Stamkos-Paul, and if they really felt Stamkos couldn't play 2C, they could focus on adding another 2C/3C tweener with the cap savings to play with Hagel and Stamkos.
If Tampa's management thinks they are winning a Cup with a right side of Cernak, Raddysh, and Perbix, they're smoking some good stuff. The best dman they can probabaly afford with the space they'd have might be Chatfield if he makes it to ufa. Carrier would also be excellent, but since Tampa's staff is incapable of thinking a dman under 6' and 200 pounds can be effective, he's likely out.
Ultimately, while Cirelli does play good defense, Tampa's overall team defense is in decline. The last time Tampa won a Cup they had an amazing defensive top 4, and the only way they are going to be able to get another is by letting Stamkos walk, trading a larger F contract, or sacrificing at another top 6 F position(the Duclair or similar player spot(), to then use it towards a ufa dman like Roy, Walker, DeMelo etc. Tampa is going to have a perceived deficiency somewhere in the lineup next year, there's no way around that. They have depth at C and absolutely none at RD. It would suck to lose Cirelli, but for a real top.4 dman, either acquired through the trade, with the assets from the trade, or with the cap space gained to.sign.a ufa, Cirelli is easily the most valuable and, positionally speaking, the most logical choice to move.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Maniaked</b></div><div>Our defense is not our only problem, depth scoring as been an issue all year. Losing Cirelli really hurts that. Losing him would also hurt our defense because he is so good defensively. Cirelli is a huge part of one of the best PK in the league. Sure we desperately need a top 4 defenceman but giving up Cirelli would not make our team better.</div></div>
The defense is by far, the main problem. Tampa's ga/g has gone from 2.86 to 3.07 to 3.26 the last 3 seasons, while.gf/g has stayed pretty constant, 3.48, 3.41, 3.51. Yes, depth scoring was an issue, but trading Cirelli for say Anderson not only adds an upgrade on defense and some scoring to help replace Cirwlli, but would also allow the team to add another decent ufa F in addition to Duclair. Someone like Sprong, Foegle, Joshua, etc could potentially be acquired with additional cap space in this scenario. It's unlikely as Tampa seems committed to Cirelli, but it does not downgrade the team in theory.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Maniaked</b></div><div>I agree that a top4 D is crucial but Cirelli provides great defense and good depth scoring. We can't afford of losing him either. We have nobody else that would be good on that second line. I rather trade Paul for someone like Fabbro. Paul is replacable while Cirelli is not.</div></div>
Paul is a great 3C, but as long as Stamkos stays, he can play 2C again without an issue. Moving Paul for an upgrade at 3RD makes Cirelli have to play 3C and Stamkos 2C anyway, as there's no one else to then play 3C. Tampa can also likely be able to.spend around 2.5 in ufa on a 3RD upgrade, so there's no reason to move Paul for one. If Cirelli could be used for a dman that is a true top 4 that can give the team some semblance of what they had on the blueline a few years ago and pkssibly save them enough space to add a solid F in addition to Duclair, I believe JBB would at least consider it.

It's actually not though, provided Tampa can acquire a top 4 RD with some term for him or with the assets acquired in the trade. Tampa isn't winning another Cup with the defense as is. While Cirelli is great in his role, Tampa has the center depth to absorb losing him. A package deal involving Cirelli for Anderson would give Tampa a very good top 4 again and make it so that Crozier or even worse, Perbix, wouldn't have to log heavy minutes. Tampa can likely add a cheaper depth dman without moving someone like Cirelli, but they won't have the impact a true top 4 d would.

Over the last 3 years:
Andersson 239GP, 24G, 138P, +24
Sergachev 191GP, 19G, 121P, +3
Sergachev also has a lot better offensive talent to work with.
As for Cirelly being better than Mangiapane. I'd take Mangiapane because he isn't signed for another 7 years at $6.2M with a Career high of 45P. At least Mangiapane scored 35G in a season before.
Perbix vs Pachal both are throw-ins, so you get my point.</div></div>
Sergachev got hurt; otherwise, he'd likely be ahead in most stats. They're comparable though. Cirelli is better overall than Mangiapane, and improved offensively this year. If he had more power play time, he'd also have more points I'm sure. Him being signed through his prime years, with a steadily rising cap, at 6.25, is a solid contract for a 2C. Maybe Tampa adds something else, as I originally had a prospect of some level in there as well, but the trade is far from terrible. Now if Calgary isn't interested because of positional needs, that's fine, but if Tampa does make Cirelli available, it's for a top 4 dman or the assets to acquire one. Otherwise, they are good with the player they have
