as a general rule i wouldn't trade for a guy that has strictly played with sidney crosby. their numbers and value are going to be majorly inflated.

Let’s not. Not giving up all that for a pure rental.
Take out Bahl, maybe NJ says yes.
Don’t like the Pens move at all. No more rentals, we simply can’t afford to. If B’s are giving up their limited resources it has to be for long term assets.
Flames decline.

That being said, Barzal isn't being moved, and you can get Brock for less than this. Would love something around Poitras.</div></div>
You don't know Bruins management very well if you think they change their attitude on a player. Poitras is a non-starter unless a young top 6 center is coming the other way

Bailey is cooked, would rather see someone from PRO get a spot. Also, no shot Shattenkirk will be a healthy scratch.

Hear me out
It’s already been said and heard thousands of times. Currently WIN doesn’t need a goalie, if they trade Helly in season then Ullmark could be a stop gap option, but they’re more likely to want Sway and no way is BOS moving a 24yo #1 goalie for a 30yo center that’s going to command to much $$$ for a shorter term deal or a long term deal that’s going to age very badly.
They will want more of a return then Lauko with Ullmark as well

Grabbing an actual goalie
The Bruins need at least one (if not two), top 6 NHL C, not a prospect.

Giving Boston a Chance
I think people really under-estimate what the Bruins can do with the current line up, plus one or two of our high end prospects popping.
Zacha could easily replicate his last season or do even better, a 60+ point center in the top 6? Not bad.
I could see Coyle finally surpassing that 50 point mark with a full season of DeBrusk + Lysell or Merkulov. Even with JVR, I think he could very easily do it.
The bottom 6 is probably the biggest question mark, but still there is a lot of options.

Swap Sway for a 1st and a high end prospect you’d be closer.

If I'm Sweeney, I'm not adding DeBrusk in a trade for Lindholm since you'd be plugging one hole but opening another, and I don't think Lysell is replacing DeBrusk's production this season. If the Bruins are trading for Lindholm, they should be going all in and hording NHL talent. I suppose I didn't address the Bruins cap in the counter-offer though, so one of Grzelcyk or Forbort would need to go to the Flames.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JackChambers</b></div><div>Gryz fits their needs, who knows where lysell is valued by league gms at this point but I feel it’s still pretty high. I don’t think the bruins are going to be willing to give up sway or poitras but burning more 1st rders doesn’t seems far from out of the question. Does a 25 first get it done? First and a second? TWO firsts?</div></div>
Grzelcyk only fits if the Flames are trading Hanifin as well, but otherwise I like the guy. I still see promise in Lysell despite his poor World Juniors and overall season. I'd put him in a similar class as Pelletier, Zary, and Corronato among Flames prospects. Mason Lohrei would be a good add for the Flames too since they're lacking in D prospects. The Bruins' 2025 first rounder is tied to the Bertuzzi trade, so I don't think they can trade it. My counter-offer for Lindholm with $2M retained would be Lysell, Poitras, 2026 1st and 2nd.

Elias Lindholm is one of the most qualified players in the NHL to replace Patrice Bergeron, and certainly the only one who is available. If you want him with $2M retained, you're looking at the equivalent a top prospect and two first round picks, not dissimilar to the Eichel return minus Alex Tuch. The Bruins don't really have a top tier prospect, although Lysell, Lohrei, and Poitras are intriguing. Jeremy Swayman is the Bruins best trade chip, but he wouldn't have a lot of value to the Flames with Dustin Wolf in the pipeline.

One journalist tweeted out that Poitras has looked very good at camp but the reality is that he’s a 5’11 172lb 19 year old who’s only played in the OHL I think he’ll be a big part of the team down in Providence but he has zero pro experience and there’s no way he makes the opening night roster maybe he lights it up in Providence and comes up for a game or two here and there but even that’s a stretch
Lohrei is a different story he profiles as a much more pro ready prospect I don’t think anyone should be surprised if they decide to go the Carlo route with him and put him straight into the lineup

McQuaid said he'd be shocked if Lohrei doesn't make a serious push in training camp for a roster spot, not saying it's likely but I think too many people are writing him off completely.
