Look at you gm... If you don't know why it sucked then you should stop giving opinion on others choices.
Also, don't look at what Ottawa got, that a deal made by two GMs, lots of deals don't have the same returns from one year to another. Context, timing, positioning, cap space, player's attitude, ect are all factors that drive deals to be different from one another.
This is a freaking website to post "what if" moves... NHL19 has limits on what you can do, here, I can trade Stamkos for a 7th round pick, sign Point for 900k for 8 yrs... This was a "what if" post ... Still was closer to reality than your gm...

Well... They need space for Point and you want to get rid of Domingue, so you take good picks plus a good player with some AHL prospects for that space. McD cost less and will fill the top spot. Once done they can probably sign Gardiner for around 6M$ plus or less for a year and they'll have a solid D line anyways. Gardiner would sign a year contract in TB given tax break plus weather to prove himself back.
Habs get proven leader, Domingue in the AHL and build back up their D line.

Maybe, but they need to move money for Point. So you give them cap space, plus picks to regroup they could move him out given Point is the main target for the current year's cap problem

Well, they show a 17M$ cap space so they can easily match. Do they have the money? Well, like the Hutricanes, I don't think the fans would be pleased seeing him go elswhere without having some direct NHL ready returns for him.

Sheet Laine and they will find a way to match it like Aho. If a trade is done, then Winnipeg get something in return and are on board with him leaving..

More moves needed.</div></div>
Offer sheet = they will match it. Trade will mean they are on the same wave lengh and if you think Byron is an expendable player if we get someone like Laine....
.. Christ some people... Think they can trade a fifth rounder for a good player bit will crap on Bergevin because he can't drag a UFA in...

Love how this is even getting commented on. Proves that even if you just throw sh*t around, some will think it was an actual serious post...... Given the title of the team, should've been a given that this was just a ridiculous team movement...
Maybe if I had traded Gallagher for three 1st round picks...

Dzingal put up 56pts and his plus minus is affected by his time with the Sens. Love Byron, but need more size to play the puck hence my choice in Dzingal. Byron also missed lots of games last year, can be a sign to move him while he's still at an high value. I'd bring Ferland in for the depth and ability to play 3rd and 2nd line if players get hurt. But I get what you say.

Yeah but Jackets don't need prospects right now and will draft to replenish their team hence the picks.
Lek is young, yes, shows skills, yes, but no freaking hands. At this stage the hands need to be there. Skating, power and size can be added on.. Hands are the one thing that's hard to learn this late in the stage for a player. He has another three years of development to hit a second line.

Don't think Byron is worth a 1st overall... Same for Lek, he has yet to show himself as a scorer, 3rd rounder should be his highest value. Johnson, sure.. but you need to play off Tampa's salary cap issues, hence you pay minimum for him, don't transfer salary cap players and good pick for future use by Tampa to get young players with low cap hits and two AHL established players that can help the farm team.
Could work out.

Habs-No-Aho
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>linehan10</b></div><div>I would imagine Tampa matches too</div></div>
Well, they only have 7.26M$ of cap space. So they will need to dump big contracts to do so and this means someone else needs to grab those too.
And they have Sergachev to sign next year, and four RFAs plus only 3 defense signed for next year (20-21). They'll run out of space.
Now, I would rather see Bergevin call up Tampa and let them know he needs to play hard ball this year and offer the 1, 2, 3 rnd picks plus McCarron, and another prospect (not Suzuki), even throw in Byron if need be (I know I traded him up there but you can throw him in for the purpose that Tampa needs lower contracts to plug in their salary problems).
This would stop the "he's not making any friends" thing and have him play ball with someone. He could also inquire about Stamkos, Gourde or Johnson which could all go low without losing the 1st draft pick and give Tampa the Cap space needed without overwhelming Hab's cap.

Guess you were right for Karlsson.. reports he wanted to come back closer to Ott made me think he'd sign for lower numbers. As for Gallagher, you need the cap space, a second rounder and a potential kid is good given his salary hit and that he may not continue on the top 2 lines for much longer in another team. Not saying he's done, just saying these were just over the top moves that would change the face of the Habs.
