Jets Retool
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>Look at their contract situation. They have 3 players signed long term. Kotkaniemi is one of them. He's 23, and is a defensive monster. Carolina have been successful with plug and play parts before. Trocheck, Nino, Hamilton, DeAngelo were all easily replaced. They'll re-sign Aho and then they'll be fine. They'll still be a Stanley Cup contender and they'll still have absolute mounds of cap space. Then when the cap goes up, they get to re-sign Slavin and then they can use the deepest prospect pool in the league to supplement their losses. There's no bluechip prospects in the Canes pool, but they have so many guys that can fill in on the back end and up front. They're going to be fine. If what you see is pending regression, maybe you need to look closer</div></div>
I understand your confidence but what I am trying to say is that Carolina wont win the cup without a more potent offensive threat. They’ve been one of the best teams in the regular season since Svech got drafted more or less but only decent in playoffs. No big wins but plenty of disappointing losses. I can see a future where Carolina continues to be great for a long time… But not cup winners and that’s what it’s all about. Regarding losing out on long term by going for it; There’s plenty of prospects and draft capital that could be invested in win now trades without damaging the future

Jets Retool
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>vikhodush</b></div><div>You clearly don’t know what you’re talking about lol. They’re setup for long term success and extremely flexible. They’ve got their core in place and extending the guys necessary this summer, plus have a ton of cap space flexibility and assets to improve around the edges continuously. Your response couldn’t be further from reality.</div></div>
You might be secure for the moment but don’t be too confident. Aho signed an offer sheet if you remember and might not be too keen on a team friendly contract. You lack depth to replace Skjei and Pesce and if you try resigning them you will realize that the cap space will run out fast. Calgary was set up for the future last season and now they are in disarray. It can change fast and the only thing that needs to happen is if Aho says goodbye

Jets offseason 3
Chicago doesn't trade Toews for someone's cap problem.
Don't see Anaheim having any interest in Schmidt, think Schmidt is a Jet for the duration of his contract, might get moved in his final year, same with Wheeler.
Jets can't risk their 2023 1st even for Chycrun, its probably a lottery pick, guess they could put a bunch of conditions on it but doubtful Arizona goes for it then or something that Chevy would do anyway.
Would be a decent return for PLD, not sure if Carolina would do it though, would drop the Bear/Stanley aspect of it.

Why in the world would we PAY you something to take Nate Schmidt's massive cap hit off your hands?!?!?

You can’t seriously compare Bratt to Huberdeau and Severson to Weegar…

You made this mirroring the value of the Tkachuk deal? So you believe that Severson is equal to Weegar and Bratt is equal to Huberdeau? Neither play is in the same stratosphere. Utter nonsense

If Severson was extended and the pick unprotected in 23, the Jets might have a discussion. But as is, it is too slanted in Jersey's favour.

Vancouver: Hey Seattle. We’ll give you an older, slower, more expensive, and worst dman. In exchange, you give us a younger, cheaper, and better dman. Sound like a deal?
