However, if Vilardi is playing hardball in contract negotiations as rumored, he's buying himself a one-way ticket to Winnipeg.
A lot of Kings fans are speculating that the Kings are floating the "Vilardi for PLD" rumor to scare Vilardi into signing a team friendly extension.</div></div>. I hadn’t heard this but it makes sense. I can’t remember the timeline exactly but I read a year or two ago that someone close to Vilardi said he wasn’t happy with how LA handled his back rehabilitation and that at the earliest notice he would leave the organization. It’s nearly impossible to verify this sort of information but if it’s true, then an actual trade involving him makes sense. TBH, not just the lefty/righty issue but I would much rather keep Gabe over trading for PLD personally. His hands are otherworldly and with his size and shot, plus his defensive metrics were outstanding last year or so I’m told. That’s the kind of young player I’d want. Not a guy who has and will leave his second organization in the near future

Interesting observation : With that Winnipeg trade, it leaves Kupari as the only right handed forward(other than F@&emo who will be out of waivers)on the roster. Conversely, most of the forwards in Ontario from what I recall are right handed. I just found it interesting and felt the need to say it out loud. Lol

I’ve heard this theory more than once and with the whole back and forth offer sheets between Carolina and Montreal when Bergervin was GM and now he’s in LA, seems at least a little plausible. Idk but it makes for some interesting water cooler talk amongst the rest of us on here

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MNKingsFan</b></div><div>I’m wondering if a Kings fan can explain to me why we’re interested in PLD. Is his ceiling higher than his past production? If not, I’m not seeing the benefit in throwing so many assets at a guy who’s never been happy with his situation and is expecting to be paid like a 1C. I personally hope they don’t pull the trigger.</div></div>
The easy answer is time to allow Byfield to develop into the Center the team drafted him to be. He’s a bit behind on his development due to injuries mainly so PLD entering his prime could become the # 1 center when Kopitar retires and Danault can slot into the 3C and hopefully Byfield could at least be the 2C by then. I’m apprehensive about him being unsatisfied too but Columbus and Winnipeg as markets leave a lot to be desired. Not sure how it will shake out but it’s fun to pretend on here so why not

Difficult Decisions
We can agree to disagree about Turcotte but his underlying stats in the AHL are excellent(good predictor of future success)and he makes everyone he plays with better, when he’s not injured of course. Iafallo is signed for 2 seasons and produced a 48 point rate per 82 games this season, plus plays responsible and can play up and down the lineup and is good defensively. I can understand the bias against his age but objectively he does produce to his contract. Arvidsson same thing. He scored only 4 less points than Dubois in only 4 more games. It’s easy to surmise that he produces to his contract. If anything you could argue Dubois produces the least relative to his contract of all 3 players. I also named it difficult decisions because contrary to your belief, most Kings fans would say that these would not be all pieces that we would just want to get rid of for low value etc. Time will tell what Winnipegs return will be and if with such a massive departure of much of their core if they will be even remotely competitive when they almost missed the playoffs this season already as it is. Of course trades don’t happen the way fans want, then why participate in the website at all then. Lol

Arvidsson scored at a very similar rate to Dubois this past season for only 4 million and Iafallo is a versatile forward all coaches would love who scores at a second line forward rate, also only for 4 million and is very good defensively. A far cry from being bad contracts. Turcotte like Vilardi has battled injuries early in his pro career and Vilardi figured it out this past season so it’s a good possibility Turcotte can as well and not be a bust. Plus a first round pick which is still high draft capital regardless of draft class. The best thing that can happen for Winnipeg is a bidding war but the whole league knows PLD wants out so whoever gets him still probably won’t put together a great package for him[/quote]

Maybe Sammi Helenieus. He’s comparable to Bjustad in size at the very least. Lol

Byfield
It would take an astronomical amount beyond just a 1st round pick for Byfield. Him and Brandt Clarke are essentially untouchable as far as the organization is concerned. His development has “ slowed “ only because of 2 separate major injuries in his 2 first full seasons in the league. Additionally, he will only be 21 when next season starts and he’s already 6’5 and 220 lbs and hasn’t even hit his full strength yet. Most GMs would love a player like him and give him a year or two and the probability is high he’ll become a great young player in the league worth more than just a 1st round pick

Winnipegs Transformation
Top 10 or so in offense, top 5(and all the way up to 2nd in the league at one point) on the powerplay. Around top 5 in faceoff winning percentage and shots against/suppression per game. At one point top in the league at slot shots allowed/high danger chances against. 104 points, 2nd most all time in franchise history. These are not indicators of a team that’s still slightly rebuilding. More like a team who has and more than likely will compete for a playoff spot annually

Sergachev Trade
Sergachev is a great defender and he’s next in line after Hedman as Tampas best defenseman. I as a Kings fan don’t believe Tampa would accept that trade and it doesn’t make sense for LA cap wise either. As good as Sergachev is right now, Clarke will probably have a higher ceiling and Byfield could develop into a top 6 center eventually so maybe not the mentioned trade above but I would take that trade of Byfield and Clarke if I was Tampa…..

next year could be deadly
I disagree with the signings of Mikey Anderson and Trevor Moore here. Andersons deal brings him to UFA I believe, but I’d have to confirm. Even if we did get Sanheim, I also think the AAV for Anderson is low whether he’s on the 1st or 2nd defensive pairing. I’d like to see him sign a 6 year x 4 million AAV deal personally but we’ll have to wait and see how it shakes out next season. Also, I believe Moore will get something similar to Iafallos 4x4 deal if he has a similar season this year like he did last year. They also don’t trade him or Roy I believe strongly but nothing’s impossible

3-way trade
Durzi is talented but I don’t think he’s long for staying with LA because of the over abundance of RHD they have in LA or in Ontario. I know they’re high on Helge Grans who will get his shot with LA sooner than later but Brandt Clarke is held in the highest regard and some say could push for a spot at 19 but I think he should go back to the OHL for one more season. One guy who has a lot of upside and maybe not on everyone’s radar is Jordan Spence. He was best defenseman in the QMJHL in one of the seasons and he was more than a point per game player his last season there. He had 42 points in 46 AHL games this past season and was on the top PP unit. I believe he was first all team in the league as a rookie in the AHL as well and he was a 4th round pick. Sneaky good pick by their scouting staff and he’s someone who I’d look out for as early as this season

The answer is yes as my explanation was based on the other posts previously that you yourself didn’t see. Some LA fans say yes some say no, some leaf fans say yes or no sure. But the resounding opinion from many LA fans is no to both. Especially the Muzzin trade which doesn’t make sense from a cap perspective if we’re being honest

This is too perfect. I hope the leaf fan I’ve been exchanging arguments with sees this. That LA fans have outlined why the Muzzin trade isn’t something LA is interested in and that the Durzi for Sandin is getting worn out. As I highlighted with him, it’s like Leaf fans live in an echo chamber. This is my favorite

Exactly what you said about seeing how the proposed trades working and not working I find interesting. I say an echo chamber because though this trade makes sense enough for Toronto, fellow Kings fans like myself have given examples as to why LA wouldn’t do the trade, not that it isn’t a trade that makes sense. With this information coming from fans who know the fan base better and let’s be honest are the ones who watch the team play, they would have an idea of what the team may or may not do. Would my premise then prove what I said about being in an echo chamber, yes or no ?

Yeah but you’re talking about a specific example, I’m talking about the multitude of Leaf fans I’ve seen on this site who have made this trade or tried to trade Jake Muzzin back to LA in their proposed trades which is not the opposite of an echo chamber. It in fact proves my initial statement
