"No, Arvidsson and Iafallo are bad contracts. Both are 30 or close to it, don't produce to their contract value and only have one year of term. Turcotte has been around long enough to be what he is. It's an extreme longshot that he gets much better.

With multiple teams bidding on PLD the Jets won't have to settle for a package that just makes them older and worse. They will get something they want.

Trades don't work like fans want them to. It won't be a bunch of pieces that you couldn't care less about losing because you realize they have little value, hence why you offer them, there will be at least one piece you don't want to lose. [/quote] "

This is wrong. Per The Athletic's player value models Arvidsson was worth $3.7 million in surplus value last year. Iafallo generated $3.6 million in surplus value. Those metrics can vary from methodology to methodology, but there is no world in which those are bad contracts. None.

I'm not saying that two very-good-but-not-young-and-soon-expiring-contract players are specifically what WPG is going to want for PLD, but its not because the contracts are bad and you wouldn't want them on your team. They absolutely make the Kings better (as they would any team). As a Kings fan I would be very VERY bummed if we had to jettison both those guys (and frankly, they are so valuable to the team I don't think they will move both). I am sad that we probably will have to lose one of them to make sure we get a #1 goalie.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Joekings09</b></div><div>You also have to take into consideration that a it pertains to Nylander, Dubas will not be dealing from a position of strength as much as desperation. 5 first round exit and it's compounded with the overall pressure of succeeding in Toronto. What's overall stats a lot of his underlying stats were some of the best of his career. The three previous seasons the team wasn't very good so that couldn't have helped and I am sure Dubis would be getting him because of his playoff résumé. Because of his competitive nature and playoff experience he would be someone that could probably get them at least to the second round and would also probably play well in front of a very good Toronto team.</div></div>

Yeah, that's why the Leafs aren't getting full value in terms of trade value for Nylander and Sandin. It's like overpaying for rentals on trade deadline, If it works then it's great. The Leafs are also getting some cap flexibility, which could allow them to make this trade more favorable towards them potentially.

I think trading Nylander away and trading for Quick is kind of a desperate move, but Dubas is in an extension year, so if it's another first round exit, he's probably not back. Blake and Armstrong don't have to worry about their jobs.

The frame of this trade does give all 3 GMs what they want, they will have to battle for who get the advantage if any in terms of straight trade value in regards to the pieces involved.
