Well I guess they could point out the massive overpayment for this season and try to negotiate a fair deal for more term.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kotkaniemi15</b></div><div>Well this is really bad for Montréal. This season is fine enough, since there’s not a problem until Byron gets back, where we might need to waive a few people. Now since he has a $6.1 million QO next year, the habs are so screwed cap wise. They need to sign Suzuki and Kotkaniemi for likely $13 million or so combined, with only Ben Chiarot’s contract coming off the books.
But obviously given that the offer sheet happened, it’s a no-brainer to match it for the habs. It’s just unfortunate that our team will be messed up so much because of Bergevin’s naïveté in thinking that the Canes wouldn’t match Aho’s offer sheet.
For Jesperi, this is phenomenal. He’ll likely end up making $7.5 million more or so than he would have over the next 2 years.</div></div>
The QO only matters if he doesn't sign an extension during the season. Habs could match the 6.1m and resign him during the season for less on an extension.

The second year of the deal is one-way NHL. So he is definitely in the plans if he doesn't crack the roster out of camp this season.

Simmonds-Thorton-Spezza line is coming
Now the real question here is who is wearing the #19 next season
But man Dubas can have thorton and than at the deadline trade for Marleau having the dynamic duo for the playoffs.
Imagine
Hyman-Matthews-Marner
Mikheyev-Tavares-Nylander
Vesey-Kerfoot-Simmonds
Marleau-Thorton-Spezza</div></div>
So the slowest and oldest line in the league? That's great if you want them getting lit up every game.
