Dermotts taking his QA as he has no arbitration rights, Mikheyev 1.5mill so all we need to do is send Sandin down.

Better hope so

Maybe he will and maybe he won’t. You sound pretty torn up.

No I’m happy that he gets to play meaningful hockey and not be wasted away another year

I hate this. Because I love Jumbo, and it breaks my heart that I have to see him in a Leafs’ jersey.

As in a player who loses. By all accounts he's a lovely person.

As a long time sharks fan this is a sigh of relief. His speed has diminished greatly and while still talented, he’s lost too many gears to compete where he once did. In limited 4th line mins he should be fine.

I was one of the few who didn’t want him re-signed but it really is time to pass the torch in the Tank...

I think it was a little over 3 years ago when Lou signed Marleau. That was crazy weird. This was little more predictable, imo. Nonetheless, watching Jumbo take the ice in a Leafs sweater will be a shock. I mean, he's been a Shark for almost as long as I've been watching hockey! Good luck to him chasing the elusive Cup.

Leafs management keep talking about having more experience and leadership in the dressing room.

How about they take their own advice and get some in the front office!

How many cups do the Sens have again?

As many as the Leafs have without a six team league

well....spezza and Thornton are the same thing...don't see the point...signing old guys that have never won doesn't bring you any closer unless than can play...

It's obviously hard not to love this deal as a hockey fan. Everyone loves Jumbo and wishes him the best of luck, but I just don't see this working out well for the Leafs. He's not gonna get nearly as much time on the PP as he did in SJ. 3 of his 7G last season were scored on the PP. He's gonna be playing with a bottom six group where everyone, including him, is making around league minimum (Kerfoot could be the lone exception). They're gonna struggle defensively, but they'll be a treat to watch. I cant wait!

Good thing you mentioned that his speed is slowing down. Last thing the Leafs need is speed. Always welcomed, but we have enough. Makes this signing even better
