He's not, he's saying that Terry is a better value, and that's true.

William Nylander Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jded</b></div><div>My goodness this is ridiculous. Extend the most likely candidate for the captaincy 7 more years and openly announce he’s a major building block for your team. Then immediately trade him while in a rebuild for an older player with 1 year left on his deal. Please stop
All that aside, I’d legit rather have Terry’s production at $7M than Nylander at $10M+. Does Nylander outproduce him? Absolutely. But Terry’s done it on a glorified AHL team, costs 70% the price, and is younger. Pass on all counts</div></div>

Trade Deadline
Honestly I don't think the Hawks get a 1st for Toews so this would probably work out.

Trade Deadline
In most likelihood, not enough from TOR in either deal.
Tarasenko isn;t off by much, but 50% retention and the player is worth a 1st, a 3rd and more. Very very midlevel prospect Ovichnikov has gone back to Russia and really is worth nothing and Kerfoot as an expiring UFA doesn;t add anything to the Blues, who would then be looking to move him. I'd think its close, but you really need to add a prospect that has value. Maybe Abramov or Steeves.
Toews at 50% for a 1st is a light offer, especially if you put any quantifying on it (top 10 protected). I'm thinking its probably a 1st and a solid prospect (one of the leafs top 3 probably: Hirovonen or Robertson or ). And thats still just Toews at 50%.
If Foligno was worth a 1st and 2 4ths for just him and less than 3mil retention, I'm thinking both Tarasenko AND Toews are a bit more than that.
But more than anything, the goaltending and defense haven;t been touched, and thats where I think the team needs help to advance in the playoffs.

Big Win Now Moves 2nd take
Now this is some win now moves if I've ever seen one.
Trading your entire future for a year and a half of Wilson plus Nick Jensen. And JT ofc.
If the Leafs don't win the cup, with this roster, this season or the next though, they'll be in an pretty awkward spot :)

You did use the feedback.
But now the Wilson/Jensen deal is far too complicated.
Wilson can play and he has term. Bottom line is you can't throw a bunch of names and think it gets done.
Neimela is a couple years away. So is Voit. Although both look really good, there is too much runway there for the Caps to say ok.
A case where simpler is better, so I stick with Knies, Neimela and a 1st.
It just looks overly complicated.

Leafs huge trade deadline moves
Vancouver won't retain 2.475m on Garland for 4 years. The Leafs won't give that much for that package either, since they wouldn't be able to afford the Miller extension for next year that's already in place.
I don't see that Anaheim trade working for either team. Leafs like Murray and if they move him it will be in the offseason, not before the deadline. Not a need for Anaheim either, they can get better picks elsewhere.
Toews for a 1st has potential. Having a decent start to the year and his name alone boosts his value. I could see the Leafs or another team doing this.

Huge Leaf Trades to win now in the playoffs
I think the only realistic and helpful move is the Toews trade, playing him as the 3C makes more sense as ChiHawk mentioned. I would also add that Toews often didn't need gifted players on his line so, I think he could do something there with two of Engvall, Jarnkrok, Robertson, Malgin, and potentially Knies.
So it would be Kerfoot out and Toews in.

Huge Leaf Trades to win now in the playoffs
1. Don’t need Lemieux at all
2. Amirov won’t be moved no matter what, as much as I would love Tanev in Toronto
3. Don’t want Miller at all with that contract plus recent play, and that’s a ton to give up anyways

Conditional draft picks based on a player re-signing are no longer allowed in the NHL under the new CBA MOU.
