convince marner to waive and do this
You forgot to convince Trotz to lose his mind. Marner does not play center, Marner does not play RD, Marner disappears in the playoffs.

Honestly, you shouldn't feel that decent. Why on earth would Montreal gift the leafs the shutdown RD they so desperately need for free? Jump up 3 rounds on that pick and you're at least in the ballpark of "decent".

Appreciate someone finally paying attention to the fact Nashville would want a C not a W however, PLD is a plug and we're not moving Saros for an expensive healthy scratch.

Mitchy gone
Where's Mitchy going? It sure isn't Nashville for what is yet another pointless Saros request. This has been reiterated over and over that it will never be of interest to Nashville and yet the GTA still doesn't seem to catch on. You keep your expensive problem, we'll keep our goalie who is largely the reason we're relevant.

How much for Guhle extension
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wreckless</b></div><div>How would you break it down, and which comps are you using?</div></div>
All honesty, I'm not really using comps. I see your assessment and it's realistic and would be a reasonable contract I would assume.
I feel like 5.2 wouldn't be enough for Guhle to sign 8 years, if that's all KH offers Guhle may opt to sign a bridge in order to cash in more in ~3 years. He's 22 and playing top line minutes comfortably, he'll command more imo. 6-6.5 is simply just what I expect to get him to take the 8 years after his performances thus far.

I mean dropping L'Heureux from this completely makes it interesting at least.

I also think that Iginla will go 6th/7th based on his recent success, and him being from a hockey family.</div></div>
Understandable, MTL is rather high on him and I could honestly see them picking him @ 5. Management has met with/talked with him a lot over the last little while and appear to have their sights set.
For the sake of it, MTL takes Iggy 2.0 @ 5, does that change the tune at all?

Trade Up At Draft
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>habs_need_Scoring</b></div><div>i dont see why Calgary moves that pick, unless its to move up. They had a lot of player movement over the past two seasons i think they're in a bit of a reset now, also if Iginla is still there have to assume they will be holding on to their pick.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bast</b></div><div>Calgary has good depth in terms of young players. What the Flames don't have is top end talent, and the best place to get it is at the top of the draft.
Though unlikely, the most I can see the Flames moving down is 3-4 spots at a time if their scouting staff doesn't see much of a difference between the top 4-5 players available.
Notable players taken 9th overall since 2003: Zegras, Sergachev, Meier, Ehlers, Horvat, Trouba, D. Hamilton, M. Granlund, Bailey, Couture, Phaneuf.
Players taken 27th at the same time: Frost, Namestnikov, J. Carlson, B. Smith, J. Schultz.
You tell me what it would take to trade down.</div></div>
Iginla is why I targeted the CGY pick. We could take Iginla with our pick but there's no way he gets past CGY if he's still there at 9. We already get a 1st from CGY to use sometime in the next couple years so I was looking at the WPG pick + the '25 CGY/FLA pick + some younger prospect talent. Maybe even a secondary move where we acquire/trade up for a better pick than the WPG pick and flip to CGY for 9OA leaving us with the potential of drafting Lindstrom & Iginla this year.
I know it's unlikely and would be a high cost to make such a move but MTL has some quality options (like those listed above) who will likely make an NHL impact at some point in their careers. 20 spots is a huge jump which is why I was crowdsourcing for input. KH loves creative trades to get the pieces he wants so if it takes another trade up scenario to get a 1st closer to what CGY would want that would be reasonable. Was looking at the VGK & MIN cap crunches for next year and trying to figure out if there were potential to include them somehow but wanted to start here for info.

Moving on
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Subbanator7667</b></div><div>Are they removing him to add Askarov + ?</div></div>
We'd be removing him since we'd be interested in a top line natural center, not a winger. The distaste from Nashville has nothing to do with value; but instead, position.
