Wasn't expecting to see Kulaks name here, but it probably takes a 4th RD to get him right on deadline day. MTL could also retain on him since he'll be UFA

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TMLBRIAN</b></div><div>That's of course why he is traded... You are getting a first rounder here. Dermott is for cap reasons. Plus you get a young dmen for next year who can play the left or the right. I understand Montreal has a lot of young defensive depth already. So they can either trade him or trade another guy. Getting Dermott in this package has zero negatives for Montreal. But the main thing is they get the 1st rounder.</div></div>
MTL still has no reason to give up a 3rd. Your logic for Dermott is that he's only in it for the cap right?? but then you added a pick to come back for him so I don't know what logic you're using anymore to have Dermott in the trade.
MTL will not give up anything to acquire another 7th Dman, they might take him for cap but they would only be sending Chiarot w/retained

I think it could work, I always thought it was a no brainer to put Anderson with them and have Caufield play on his off wing.
I've also liked the pairing of Caufield and Poehling this year, wouldn't mind them finding stride as a good 2nd/3rd line option behind a Suzuki line, allowing Caufield to have a smaller advantage over playing against the other teams 1st line every game. (for now, as I'd hope Caufield can find his 1st line potential again)

Even if MTL wanted Dermott the price is still way higher then u have here, feels like an unwritten rule that you don't trade with rivals unless someone's getting ripped off.
and MTL and Toronto just don't make meaningful trades

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>I would say that the chances of trading Allen are slim this season as they just protected him in the ED. Also why would you trade Lehkonen? Him Poehling and Caufield have formed a dominant line offensively, I suggest swapping Toffoli for Lehkonen and moving Pitlick to C line 2 and trading Perrault instead. Lineup becomes
Lehkonen-Suzuki-Caufield
Drouin-Pitlick-Anderson
Toffoli-Dvorak-Gallagher
Byron-Poehling-Evans
Edmundson-Petry
Romanov-Savard
Clague-Wideman
Price
Allen</div></div>
I don't mind keeping lehky, he's one of my favourite players but he could easily be sent out and fetch a good return
Its unlikely he will be traded but he's one of the better value players MTL has to trade IMO.
On Toffoli it seems like he can get his game back to how it was last year if he can stay healthy, him and Suzuki have a good chemistry on a line just need to find the perfect 3rd guy

This is why MTL has the most Toxic fanbase. Team has a young player in a slump so they become an instant trade when 6 months ago he was the next best thing for the franchise, like pick a side. Sometimes its so frustrating seeing how other fans act.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Black61</b></div><div>He is worth closer to that package than a single 1st.
He ISNT a rental. He is on one of the best deals possible and is a career 82 game average 25 goal scorer who kills penalties. That is well over a single late 1st.</div></div>
He's obviously not a rental but to say he's worth 2 first, one of which could be a top 15 pick is a bit out there, if MTL was able to get the max out of him it would be a teams Late 1st (25-32) and a B+ Prospect and that's if they can get a team to give up the MAX for toffoli, instead its likely a couple 2nd and b+ prospect.

Toffoli is not worth 2 firsts, Max is 1 first with salary retained to a top 5 team(28-32 pick). plus Nashville could easily not make the playoffs so I doubt they give up a 1st in this scenario anyways.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>yycofred</b></div><div>No... no it's not. Pelletier is a professional rookie and sits 2nd in the AHL in points with over a point per game, his game took a massive jump from last season to this one, Poirrier is essentially a second shot at Oliver Kylington, slid in the draft due to a poor defensive game but the ceiling is way higher than a lot of prospects.
An underperforming 27 year old C isn't a cap dump, he'd be 4th in points on the Habs all while playing on the 4th line in Calgary, he has 1 less goal and the same amount of assists as Toffoli while playing with significantly worse line mates given Toffoli has missed a few games. Monahan and Toffoli have very very similar extended stats as well.. If your argument is that Monahan is a cap dump so is Toffoli.</div></div>
Alot to un pack here
1) Toffoli retained for 2 years is worth at least two 2nds plus more, MTL has been horrid this year, no one has looked good. (He scored 28 in 52 last year)
2) Monahan is useless for MTL, he's just extra cap space. They need to get younger not add 6mil players who lost their footing. (Has scored 14 in his last 83)
3) Calgary has a use for Toffoli, which makes him an asset not a cap dump. Especially at 2.2 mil for 2 1/2 years.

A player I'd look at is Johnsson and Boqvist or a Pick, but I'm not sure what he's worth to NJ. I know he's having a good year but it seems like it could end at any point since he only had 11 last year

Value he has is pretty accurate, you're asking a team to hold 2 mil for 2 1/2 seasons while also taking what's essentially a cap dump for 1 1/2 years.

Petry might be having a bad year but in the last 2 years Petry has 82pts in 126 games where as Myers has 42pts in 123 games...
with this years bad start added its Petry with 84 pts in 151 games and Myers with 48pts in 147 games

I think they keep him as a stability factor for the younger guys, he doesn't make many mistakes in the D zone so the young guys can learn from him even if he's not an offensive D man

I also like giving Caufield a chance with Drouin and Poehling (who seem to have something going on together). Poehling is skating hard and could win some battles for Drouin and Caufield.
Hoffman is also expected to be back.</div></div>
