Yeah I mean Tex isn't terrible - but just much like you talk about Tex finally hitting his groove, right now is still on par with Jake's "decline". To be fair DeBrusk really just needs a change of scenery as he has fallen out of favour with the Bruins brass. I mean we have seen this happen many times and most recently Sam Bennett and his move to Florida - its not like these guys just all of a sudden forget how to play. He is still a solid player he just needs to find a new home/fit.

Yeah this trade all around doesn't really make sense for the teams above (Bruins or Kraken), as it doesn't hit the mark on a D man or 2nd line C for the Bruins (no offense to Tex, he is ready for that roll). Kraken get's hosed as it doesn't help them at all and moving a potential top 5 pick this draft is silly given their roster. The Jackets are the only team that wins out as they get rid of cap and pick up a bottom 6 forward in Appleton and a 1st round pick that could be top 5 this year.

Blue Jackets laugh and hang up when they hear the big piece coming back to them for Jones is Drouin, who shot an abysmal 2.6% last year for 2 goals in 44 games played and hasn't had a 20 goal year since '16-'17. Jones has outscored Drouin 3 of the past 4 years as a defenseman.

If David Savard is worth a 1st and a 3rd at the trade deadline and Ellis is worth two young roster players then Jones is worth (and what they would want) is a top prospect and a couple top picks. Also they would need <strong>at least </strong> a first rounder and a prospect to eat Drouin's awful contract for it's remaining 2 years which include a modified no trade clause. And we haven't even touched Texier's value which is much more than later half 3rd and 4th round picks.

If Patrick has no value then why would Buffalo want him?
And Domi is certainly a bust right now and I cannot expect a team to pay 2C price for him.
If Philly has to re sign both players then they shouldn't have to pay full trade to get them and this trade would also send a clear message to Carter Hart which might basically restart their rebuild, negating the need for Jones.
With Reinhart it would be a pretty different trade. I'll put one up tomorrow if I remember and you can have a look.
