It’ll also be weird to see Petry wearing the jersey of the team that he scored on in his most memorable moment with Montréal.

Having Petry gone is extremely sad, but not unexpected.
Having Poehling gone is great. Although they added someone who’s also a terrible person (for the reason of being dirty and violent rather than racist and having sh*tty morals). Although one of those is probably more fixable than the other, so I guess it’s a fine trade off?

(VGK/CAR) - Pacioretty, Coghlan for future considerations
What the actual ****. They’re seriously giving up a point a game goal scoring 2-way winger and a perfectly good 3rd pair D on good contracts for absolutely nothing.
Anyways, go Canes! Maybe this means we’ll get to see KK centering Patches like I dreamed of back in 2018.

I don’t want him to say he’s better than everyone and deserves to go #1, and not being so cocky about how he was definitely going to be picked by Montréal. The guy is so full of himself.

(MTL/NYI) - Romanov for 2022 1st round pick (13th)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CMac66</b></div><div>Lol that's an very inaccurate interpretation of what I said. Welcome to the business of sports I guess where everything is designed to take your money. Sports has mostly lows. Winning, being successful is tough. The journey of those lows, then getting to the Hugh's is the point. Ask Tampa fans after getting swept against the blue jackets the winning twice in a row. And I get wanting an exciting team(everyone wants that and I think the Habs got a good one in slaf) but youre spewing bs that if your team was winning you wouldn't be that interested. Ask the leafs fans how having some exciting players not translating to winning feels like... It's great until success never follows.</div></div>
We are not the same person, and I’m not the same person as other hockey fans. You can’t call my reasons for why I do things bs because my way of thinking isn’t the same as yours.
I understand that having a lot of lows is inherent in being a sports fan. Which is why I don’t want to devote my time to being a sports fan. And I’m not a child anymore. People change, and I’m a very different person than I was 6 years ago when I was really introduced to hockey. I think it’s great that other people still find a lot of joy from being a sports fan, but that’s just not me anymore.

And you call yourself a fan.</div></div>
I can’t speak to the habs from 1994 through 2015. And I have no qualms with management doing what they’re doing if they want to run a winning hockey team. I just won’t be a fan of that team.
I like that Suzuki’s on the habs. He’s a great player, but he’s like a robot in interviews. I like him, but he’s definitely not a major reason why I’d continue to watch the habs. Whereas players like Caufield, Lehkonen, Kotkaniemi, Danault, Romanov, Byron, Tatar, and Gallagher would be.

Slafkovsky at his best will be a Nichuskin imo
I love Wright, his personality is great too
And even so, if you didn't like him, Cooley is the pick
I might even rather Nemec over Slaf
Slaf is complementary piece
The others are integral pieces in a winning lineup
Not impressed at ALL</div></div>
You like him being an arrogant asshole? How? He’s insufferable.
Also as for the quality of the players, large swathes of NHL scouts disagree with you, so it’s certainly not as black and white as you’re making it out to be.

3-4 years isn’t going to make my brother like Dach less and me like Romanov less. It’ll still be painful. We don’t care who gets the better hockey player(s).

(MTL/NYI) - Romanov for 2022 1st round pick (13th)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CMac66</b></div><div>That's a pretty sad way to watch your favourite team and I call major BS lol. I bet if you're team starts winning you'll fall in love with Slafkovsky, Caufield, Suzuki, and whoever else they draft.
I loved Stone and was upset he got traded, Karlsson too but not as much. But how quickly did I become fans of Tkachuk, Stutzle, Batherson, Chabot... Very quickly despite not winning.</div></div>
That’s a sad way to watch my team? I think it’s sad if the only way you watch hockey is just cheering for the corporation regardless of who is on the ice and how they act.
Suzuki is the most boring person on earth. I love Cole. But he’s not enough to get me to continue to watch hockey, especially when there’s so much else I could be doing with those 246+ hours of time and $200 I would spend watching the habs each year.
Would I fall in love with Slafkovsky and the others if I got back into hockey? Probably, yes. But that’ll never remove the pain that I’ll feel every time I think of the losses of Romanov, Kotkaniemi, Mete, Lehkonen, and so many others. Hockey fandom has some great highs, but also a lot of lows, and I should really be focusing my free time into something that is just highs with no lows and I’ll be a lot happier of a person.

Cause Wright’s a POS human. Even with all the talent in the world, people who have more work ethic and a better attitude will come out on top.
Who cares about how good Dach is. Sports fandom is pain.
I’m just going to watch Star Wars from now on. It brings me all of the highs of watching hockey, without any of the lows.

Great value and positionally smart moves can **** off. What’s the point of watching hockey? Because we love the players and we want to see them succeed with the team we love. I’d rather watch the habs be an average team with a team full of players that everyone loves and roots for rather than a Cup winning team with players the fans have no emotional connection to.

I’m glad the habs didn’t draft Wright, he seems like an arrogant asshole. And it seems like a few other teams thought the same way as well.
Trading Romanov is gut-wrenching. He’s a beautiful man, and I wish him great success in New York. The habs are now that much less lively without him.

What post of yours are you the most proud of?
It’s my first time back on the website in a few weeks, and no better time for some CapFriendly nostalgia.
Some of my favourites are just my sh*tpost Armchair GMs that are just weird and wacky that I put together in 5 minutes. Here are a few examples:
<a href="https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/2063657">Jack Quinn Hughes</a>
<a href="https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/971885">Getting Older and Slower</a>
<a href="https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/2901900">Worst team in history to Cup champions</a>
<a href="https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/3105809">Cloning dark science secrets only the Sith knew</a>
In terms of me not being a moron, I’m quite proud of some of the posts that I crafted talking about certain topics back when I was really into hockey. Writing hockey analysis has helped me practice my writing just as much as English class has. Although those posts aren’t very easy to find unless I know what I’m looking for which I don’t. Most of them will be on the various trade & signing threads.
There’s also a whole bunch of Armchair Teams where I spent so much time and effort going into every minutiae I could as a fan, like player numbers, specific performance bonuses, waivers eligibility, and all the other stuff projecting out so far in advance. Even if I am more jaded and would never put anywhere near that much effort into hockey again, I’m still proud of what I did and I’m happy for my past self that I was able to experience being completely engrossed in every possible facet of the habs that I could, and being as knowledgeable about them as any other fan.
Also I predicted that the habs would trade David Schlemko to Philadelphia for David Schlemko a few months before it happened, which is sort of fun.

The more important factor is that Bergevin is gone.* :p So if Anderson cares enough to get his number changed he could do it.
I’m interested in seeing whether Suzuki would want to switch to #37 or #88 now and if Caufield would want to switch to #8. Those 2 specifically probably won’t, since so many fans have their current jersey numbers and they likely don’t care that much, but it is a possibility.
*This is a half joke, since Bergevin let incoming veteran players (like Anderson) pick their numbers, while he assigned low numbers to rookies like Fleury, Suzuki, Caufield, Poehling, Sergachev, and Kotkaniemi. (With Fleury and Suzuki being the weirdest ones because he changed Suzuki’s number before the training camp he made the team, and he changed Fleury’s number after the training camp when he made the team.)
