You're right! I should've looked into it more; I didn't realize they were 8th. Could change the pick to 2025 1st or something then. I am high on Gourde and would love to add him to our bottom 6.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jonh514</b></div><div>Seattle needs to make a lot of changes IMO. They won't be back in the playoffs any time soon. Having two top 10 picks this year might be worth swapping Beniers for Guhle, especially if they sell players like Dunn.
I'm not predicting it happens, I'm just saying it's not as far fetched as people feel given that Shane Wright looked very good at the end of the year in the NHL.</div></div>
I don't agree with this at all. Like the Devils they were missing their #1 defenseman for a large portion of the season. Their top prospect in Wright is finally coming into his own and they have some other really promising prospects in Jagger Firkus and Eduard Sale too. Not to mention Kartye will probably take another step.
The most difficult position to fill in the league is 1C. The 2nd most is 1RD. They already have the 1C and trading that would vastly set them back. This would be similar to the Habs trading Suzuki for like Byram and Buffalo's 1st, the value is there for sure but it doesn't solve the fundamental issue

Back on the train
Leafs should keep Liljegren and Holmgren over one year of Larsson. LHD are relatively easy to find....spending 7.5m on Skjei is luxury can't afford. Minten has to a Marlie centre, ready to be a NHL centre in 25/26.

I would put my money on take Celebrini and have him play on the wing like he did at WJs or take him and trade Wright for a defenseman

Yeah honestly I don't see it either but I wanted to make things interesting.

Utah is a Playoff Team
Seattle's not going to go for that. Contrary to what you stated in the description, McCann isn't expendable. He's held down top-six center roles for the Kraken, but is just as comfortable on the wing, so he can easily move there. In fact, McCann was primarily a winger last year when Seattle made their playoff run. He's also the Kraken's best goalscorer, and Seattle's a team that needs to add scoring, not subtract it. Trading McCann would be counterproductive for the Kraken, and I don't see him going anywhere anytime soon.

All three teams decline. Ottawa and Nashville aren't trading their high-quality youngsters for expensive veterans and Seattle is looking for impact forwards, not depth players.

Fixing the Leafs and trading core pieces
Dunn is a big reason why Seattle's defense is so good. To me this trade would be filling one hole while creating another. Seattle does need scoring, but there will be avenues for them to do that this offseason that don't involve trading their best defenseman, and I think they will pursue those options rather than making a deal like this.
Another thing to keep in mind is that Marner, for as good as he is, is a rental until proven otherwise in a trade. Dunn by contrast has three years left on his contract. I can't really see the Kraken being all that willing to give up a core piece of their roster along with a high first round pick for someone who might only be around for a year when such a trade on its own likely isn't enough to make them an elite cup contender.

Kampf and Jarnkrok don't waive for non playoff Western conference teams. One year of Marner isn't worth that for Seattle.

nice to hear..the league needs more top end talent, and less flops

DRAFT IGINLA PLUS TRADE UP FOR SENNECKE
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KrakenTheCode</b></div><div>According to multiple draft pick value charts, the difference in value between the 8th overall pick and the 24th overall pick is equivalent to a late first rounder. I highly doubt Harris has that sort of trade value right now. Even if he did, the Kraken have a full blue line at the moment and will likely want to keep a starting spot open for Ryker Evans to continue his development, so I can't see them being all that interested in Harris. The Kraken are better served sticking at 8 and adding another top prospect to their pipeline than moving down 16 spots just to add a defenseman they don't really need.</div></div>
Exactly what I was going to say. (The difference between #8 and #24 is #23 on the most recent draft-pick-value chart I use.) I'll go further than your last sentence by saying Even if you assume that the prospect selected with #24 turns out to be a middle-6 forward and Harris turns into a perfectly acceptable second- or third-pairing defensemen, the two of them collectively probably won't have the same impact as the prospect chosen at #8. (F Helenius? C Catton? LD Dickinson? RD Parekh?)

Murphy isn't that special for two first rounders.....one of them was lottery pick.
