If Marner was traded for prospects
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wz92</b></div><div>That's fair. Id think Marner extends though otherwise I'd totally agree. Toronto would sign then trade. I should have made that clear.
Maybe add some of what was traded to Pittsburgh, or Steeves. You still have sale, you still have Wright. Your upper echelon young talent is still there. To be fair you guys just have so much young talent I think you can afford to make this move without feeling the I'll effects as much as others.
If Marner extends what would be your thoughts then?
I think the problem is much more than just one of them. Nylander is the only one that constantly shows in pressure situations</div></div>
Even if it's a sign and trade I don't think Seattle is the dance partner for Marner. Every trade I have seen on ACGM just creates another roster problem for Seattle. The two main things they need right now are a 4th center (Beniers, Wright, Gourde, mystery skater), and scoring. A trade for Marner would probably mean at least a $5M contract going to Toronto and while I know Larsson and Oleksiak get floated I don't think it's either of them. That would leave Burakovsky (Been great when healthy, just hasn't been healthy in Seattle), Tanev, and Bjorkstrand. Ideally it would be Burakovsky but there are so many red flags there. The Kraken are closer to finally having a deep prospect pool but I think there is still a reluctance to trade much of that in a deal.
That would put the deal at something like:
Marner (sign and trade)
Timmins
Burakovsky
Borgen
Firkus
Morrison
2024 3rd Round pick (TML)
Even that doesn't seem balanced. Between Rehkopf, Firkus, Goyette, and Morrison you have 4 of the teams top 10 prospects. Draft wise that was 3 2nd's and a undrafted 20yo.
But I also am not sure that RF makes any moves until he has a new coach in place. Doesn't make sense to trade for something that doesn't fit in the new coaches schemes.

Seattle passes. Depletes their farm system. Firkus and Rehkopf were specifically drafted for their scoring prowess after the Kraken's year 1 and lack of scoring. Also way to much to give up for 1 year of Marner.
Obviously the problem for the Leafs in the playoffs has been Mathews, not Marner, as the team seems to be playing lights out without him

Large Marner Deal
Such an overpay for one year of Marner. Makes the Kraken worse in both the short term and long term.

Next Year
Seattle probably only considers that if it's Lambert in place of Kupari. Otherwise trade doesn't really meet their organizational needs. Even then it feels like they would decline. Pionk's a 3/4 defensemen at best and he'd have to really step it up to be top pairing with Dunn. Ehlers adds some goal scoring they need but I think they look elsewhere for it.

playoff run
I'd love Greenway in Seattle but I think Tanev gets traded before Gourde just because the team is so thin on centers organizationally. McCann can play center but he's better on the wing and more productive there.
Beniers and Tolvanen probably get similar deals at 3 or 4 years between 3.5 and 4.25M. No way they bring back Yamamoto or Schultz.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Logicalicesports</b></div><div>I would put my money on take Celebrini and have him play on the wing like he did at WJs or take him and trade Wright for a defenseman</div></div>
create a new two kids and a goat line although Seattle doesn't have nearly as prolific a goal scorer as Hull was. Could be interesting to see Celebini, Wright, and Schwartz/Eberle on a line.
Wright's probably on the Kraken next year. His numbers once they put him with talent that can play with him were really nice.

That it is, and it's a good story for the Buium brothers. One question I keep wondering about the Kraken is if they win the lottery, would they trade the pick and move back or would they take Celebini and have three young centers.

Surprises and Trades
I don't see Seattle trading back in the 1st round or drafting offense. The only way they go offense in the 1st is if they move up to the top 2 picks.
They'll take what is left of the top 5 D in the draft at their draft spot.

Fixing the Leafs and trading core pieces
Seattle passes for a couple of reasons. 1) RF doesn't trade away first round picks. 2) Dunn just re-signed and is hitting his prime vs Marner being a FA next year on an inflated contract. Seattle's not giving up that much for one year and no guarantees.
Seattle holds that 1st rounder, takes one of the top 4 D-men in the draft and moves on.

So I wonder in this kind of scenario where Seattle wins the draft if SJS is willing to move their two #1's for the #1 pick. Not sure the value is there for SJS but that's kind of my dream scenario.

Cost is probably right, gets Seattle some insurance but I believe the common belief is Evans is stepping in to Schultz's shoes which would make Ceci the #7 unless they also move Dumo.
