Can’t miss prospect- no
2023 first- no
D man to play with Hughes- no

It accomplishes nothing. In no world does Vancouver do this.

And Vancouver is not that worried about cap. They maybe need to clear up 1-2 million.</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>nucksfan40</b></div><div>dont think canucks have to trade garland but leafs would have to add something as it isnt enough</div></div>

Bjorkstrand trade is a close comparable, this is far more than that. I love Garland but his value just isn’t that high. Unless they pay a team to take on cap dumps next year they need to move Garland (if they want Horvat to stay and to build a competent d core). I hate to say it but trade values are screwed rn, it’s the same reason a guy like Kerfoot is worth far less on the market than he actually is. Also, Garland wouldn’t even fetch a 1st at the deadline apparently, his value hasn’t gone up with one less playoff run. And, the cherry on top, Canucks have been rumoured to be looking for a “lockerroom change” and have been shopping Him.
I hate to say it, his value isn’t insane. Kerfoot was a 50 point player, almost entirely all at 5v5, and he’s worth barely anything. Bjorkstrand was a really good 2nd liner and got a 3rd and a 4th. Kulikob got traded for FC. This value totals up to close to a 1st, I don’t know how much you Nucks fans want for Garland but you aren’t getting full value

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CoachCoach</b></div><div>There are a few reasons they won't do it:

1) Leddy &gt; Holl

2) The Wings had literally zero defensemen of value, and traded Panik's contract with a second for Leddy to be a top4 mentor. Leddy was still a solid contributor, as proven by his re-signing this summer for 4 million for 4 more years (not sure why it was that much).

3) This season the Wings have Chiarot and Seider, Maata and Hronek in their top four. Walman/Lindstrom/Oesterle/Haag/Pysyk are all fighting for the 5-6 spots. Add in Edvinsson and Johansson possibly having an outside chance of making the big club creates chaos on the bottom pair. Even though its not a perfect top 6, Holl lumps into the logjam of 5-7 D. He either blocks the kids from getting a chance, or he loses value sitting up in the press box. Either way, it doesn't make sense.

4) Detroit isn't going to help Toronto (a division rival) who has stomped them the past few years get cap compliant by taking their most expendable and least important dman.</div></div>

I understand if Holl takes a spot from the young d men, but all those young guys you mentioned were all Ld except for Lindstrom, and when I made the comment I thought he was an LD, not a RD. In a world where Lindstrom was an LD, than Holl would make a lot of sense to acquire for the 3RD role, as he is a lot better than any of those older guys you mentioned who play RD, and Holl would be flipped for more than what he would cost to get

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MoxNix</b></div><div>You forgot to take into consideration the Rangers are a defense first team, the Leafs an offense first team and the Rangers have a better defensive core than the Leafs. Lundkvist would make the Leafs and unlike Sandin he'll probably stick in the NHL for years. The only reason Sandin played some games with the Leafs last year is they couldn't afford anyone better.</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>EatMyScoobySnack</b></div><div>One of the reason Lundkvist want to go out of Ranger is because he don't have a good spot to play all is game. Ranger have a solid defense line up which leave the young with less time and opportunity that he should receive.

Like moxnix have say Leaf are more offensive then Ranger and they are more defensive then the leaf are so stats may differ from one other but I found them quite similar if not I have a preference for Lundkvist who could be more I think.

Even if he's good, Sandin would probably be the fifth or six defense player on the team so he won't as productif as he could at Toronto right now.</div></div>

The Rangers were statistically an average team at both preventing shot attempts and quality chances against last year. The Leafs ranked in the top 7 best for both, and in the more important of the stats (quality) they ranked 4th, behind only the Bruins, Wild, and Flames, 3 notoriously great defensive teams.
The idea that the Leafs are a bad defensive team today is complete BS; there is no evidence supporting it rn

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MoxNix</b></div><div>No he isn't. It isn't all about who scores the most points. Lundkvist is more valuable due to size and being a right shot rather than a left shot. And while it might be a difficult concept for some to grasp but when a defenseman actually plays decent defense he won't score as many points . Plus Lundkvist has 2 years left on his contract at 925k while Sandin is an RFA fringe player who thinks he's worth more than 2.4 mil per year (tip: he's not even worth that).</div></div>

Sandin is the same height as Lundqvist and only a few pounds less (Sandin also uses the body quite frequently). Sandin is also a modern defenceman speaking on the defensive side of the game, the same way Lundqvist is. Lundqvist is not a DFD, he is a puck moving offensively talented guy just like Sandin, except Sandin is better offensively and puck moving wise (analytically was a dominant play driver this past year too, ranking at over 2 SD for stats that show how a player improves his team quality and quantity chances, while also posting decently better results defensively than Lundkvist did in his NHL time). This might be a difficult concept for some to grasp, but the defenceman who posts much better NHL results, is the same age, and actually cracked the team full girl last year (prior to the March injury he played every game but 1-2) is the better defenceman
