No one wants to touch Campbell 5 million for 4 years contract, doesn't matter if you're rebuilding. Oilers will need to pay massively to get rid of that contract.

What thye Leafs should do next year regardless of this years playoff results
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HollywoodHudon</b></div><div>Knies is though?
Voit = top 2 scorer in OHL all year long
Minten = currently 55th in WHL scoring - but that is playing behind teammates Stankoven and Bankier on the Blazer's depth chart. Imagine what he will do next year when those 2 guys have moved on to the NHL?</div></div>
Knies seem to be the most ready of them, but still doesn't mean he will make the lineup right out of the gate.
Minten is 18 yo, what's the rush? Let him developp, he is no Mcdavid or Matthews, next year he should be getting good minutes in the WHL.
Voit is simply not there yet. At his frame, he needs to developp further more, on a third line in the nhl, points don't matter, you play a role that clearly doesn't suit Voit playstyle.
You ever heard of Rory Kerins? also 2nd point leader last year in the ohl at 20yo. This year, spent the entire season in the ECHL. played 6 ahl points with 2 points. The jump is huge between OHL and NHL, and the Leafs are contending, not rebuilding. THerefore, they developp their players in the minors.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MNBassman</b></div><div>Knies definitely has a bright future in the NHL, but I will caution you (Leafs fans in general) that I do not see him as a top line guy…maybe not even a great 2nd liner. I see him as a great 3rd liner who can be moved up and down to fill in for injuries, matchups, etc., or as an average-ish 2nd liner. What he brings in spades is size, speed, strength, toughness, and effort! His hands are good, not great and I would describe his shot the same. Where I think he might struggle to reach expectations is his processor speed (hockey IQ). He’s a long ways from being a dumb hockey player, but compared to the rest of the package, this is what I think might limit him from being a 10-12 year top 6 player. Regardless, you have a nice future piece and every team in the league would want in in their cupboards!</div></div>
Sir, Thank you very much for this great explanation, I truly appreciate your time and insight. Have a great day

What do you think of Knies game, will it translate to nhll level this year? Many Leafs fans think he will be playing top 6 minutes in playoff. What's your take on his situation?

I would swap kerfoot and Engvall. I think Knies would benefit more from playing with Kerfoot, as Engvall is really not a playmaker. He seems to be playing well with Kampf in a shut down role with some offensive flashes.
However, I believe Dubas is not done and will add a top 9 right winger (I would personally hope for Puljujarvi), bringing engvall on the left wing 4th line.

a reasoanble trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sabres89</b></div><div>I would normally agree (personally I think a mid first is worth about 5 million), the problem is, very few teams are able to add an 11.5 million dollar cap hit, it doesn't matter how swell he is. Not that it's the sellers sole responsibility to help make cap space for the buyer, but ideally you want as many teams as possible throwing offers at you. That's not selling short on your player, that's accepting the financial realities of the league.
And I think when you are talking about firsts as compensation, you are talking about cap dumps, basically doing another team a solid at a cost. Moving a player that's making a huge salary may have to have retention baked into the cost, just because.</div></div>
I don't think they Sharks have to make Karlsson available at 7,5 million to get offer. Anything below 9m will generate buzz around a defenseman on pace for over 100 points.
Also, not only the amount of retention but the lenght has a price as well. As a bottom team for the years to come, retaining on EK takes a spot from getting cap dumps WITH picks. I think SJ will only accept amazing offers, since they don'T need to trade him by the deadline, a deal could be done in the summer. Altough with the season he is having, would be a good idea to bank on that

Just retaining 4 million for 5 years is worth 2 first round pick on it's own, let alone for the Norris defenseman of the year

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lenny7</b></div><div>I'm sure the Panthers would love to have him in theirs as well :tearsofjoy
Florida may or may not make the playoffs, but actively making the roster worse is something that could very well put a solid nail in Bill Zito's coffin. Likely wouldn't be the final nail, but improving the position of that 1st that they gave to Montreal would be a huge bogey.</div></div>
They will somehow need to lower their cap space, they currently don't have enough to activate Duclair, and tbh I don't see who they could trade to make space without getting worse. It's definitely gonna be interesting to follow what they end up doing!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lenny7</b></div><div>Panthers are 3 points out of a wildcard spot. Making a move that doesn't improve the roster is probably out of the question. How do they activate Duclair when he's healthy? No idea. But I can't imagine they dump him for what amounts to almost nothing, especially when it (most likely) improves a team that they'll have to play 3 times in their final 12 games.</div></div>
That's a very fair assessment. However, they will NEED to move someone, they have 1,3 M of cap space, and Duke is coming back soon. Either Bennett Reinhart of Duke will need to be moved.
I would just love a guy like Duclair on the leafs top6.
