lol. I hate when people say lol, but I am actually laughing outloud at that statement. Let's think about this for a second.
The bruins are clearly stanley cup contenders. They're in the final now, and the team will likely be pretty much the same next year. So, if the Bruins are making a trade, they're going to make a trade to get better now. Immediately. You are asking them to give up their 2nd best d man at 5 on 5, they're best shut down d man, and a guy that is relied upon for 22 minutes a night. oh, AND HE'S TWENTY TWO YEARS OLD!!!!! AHL guys? That's what you're offering. Seriously? Want Brandon Carlo? Make an offer that makes the Bruins better immediately. Short of Mitch Marner, I don't think there's something the leafs can give to get him. AHL players and bad draft picks are an absolute joke of an offer.

Send him to the SHL for a year to refocus, if he pulls a Patterson, pay him 8 million a year

Kadri?
You think he’s worth scraps.
Leafs fans think he’s worth Burns.
He’s probably somewhere in between.

Canucks and Leafs. Leafs trade 2 RFAs for immediate help
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Canucks1</b></div><div>Walking. And Holy **** Leafs fans overrate Gardiner. Pathetic</div></div>

Canucks defencemen with higher 5v5 P/60 than Jake Gardiner last season:

Canucks defencemen with higher 5v5 CF% than Gardiner last season: Alex Biega and Derrick Pouliot (both of whom were substantially sheltered compared to Gardiner)

Canucks defencemen with higher all situations P/60 than Gardiner:
Canucks defencemen with higher all situations P1/60 than Gardiner:
Canucks defencemen with higher all situations GS/60 than Gardiner:
If I didn't list any names, it's because they weren't any. At 5v5, Gardiner was Toronto's best dman last year (nobody on Toronto's D corps topped him in 5v5 production or GAR, and his xGF% was only surpassed by Dermott and Carrick, who were heavily sheltered), and no blueliner the Canucks have his on his level. He's not overrated, he just is legitimately that good.
Also: Baertschi's 25 (has probably already peaked), has gotten buried in possession his whole career, has never scored 20 goals, and has never hit 40 points. He's a 3rd liner, and odds are that's all he'll ever be. The Leafs don't need another 3rd liner at all. Sutter's a bottom-six checker who's exiting his prime. He played brutal minutes last year and got buried. He's managed a 50% CF% while paying 80 games once in his career, and that was on a stacked as hell Pens team (his CF% rel was -4.5). Leafs don't care about him, either.
2nds whatever. Every pick's a lottery ticket outside the top-20.
Tanev's a potentially interesting piece, but with his injury history and lack of gamechanging talent, he isn't worth Gardiner alone, let alone with Nylander thrown in.

If Babcock wasn't coach
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>I wish Babcock wasn't behind the bench during the games. At times he just terrible with his inane line match ups. Folks blame Gardiner...maybe Andersen for game 7 against Boston. To me the turning point was on a 4 on 4, Bozak. in the penalty box, Babcock had Marner and Marleau on the ice, not a centre Marleau loses the draw, Krug scores....game tied. game lost. Babcock likes to think he a match up, game manager genius....I think he is below average.</div></div>
The Leafs lost because Matthews wasn't ready to be Captain yet. The team had the lead in game 7 and then were on their heals the whole time they had it. They looked nervous, what they needed was someone (the star of the team) to take a deep breath and have a dominant shift. They didn't get that and they lost. This year I think Matthews will be a man possessed and Tavares will also add a new level of leadership that will prevent a late game collapse. Imagine the days when Sundin was in his prime, if he had a lead, he'd go out and dominate and score another one because he knew that until the game is over its up for grabs. He just wanted to grab the win more than anyone else. Matthews will get there as well and it will move to everyone else on the roster.

If the Leafs are going to do a Nylander to RD Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jamiepo</b></div><div>I don’t see any reason to. Goals against: 2nd in our division 3rd in our conference and 11th overall. And with the moves we made it will be even stronger this year. People always want to hate on the leafs.</div></div>
Leafs or no team would trade a Nylander with five years of control for two year of Trouba.

Fixing Possible Cap Problems (Trades with CGY, EDM, LA, and NSH)
A lot of less-experienced AGM's try to resolve Toronto's 2019 cap problem by blithely trading Marleau somewhere. He has a No Movement Clause. It's not going to happen.
CapFriendly's otherwise excellent software (it corrects mis-spellings my multimillion-dollar law firm's program doesn't catch) should automatically prevent trading guys with NMC's, just like it prevents reverting trades when you no longer have the player on your team.
