Man, I'm so f*cking pissed that my Greyhounds blew it in 7. I was looking forward to seeing Cowan live for a couple playoff games.

Leafs 2023 2024 Season Discussion Part 7 - Shambles
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NorthernLeafsFan05</b></div><div>Also, leave it to Keefe to not adjust until we've already dug ourselves a ginormous hole. The Leafs aren't coming back from a 3 - 1 deficit against the Bruins.
We say this every offseason, but it's more true now than it ever has been; change <strong><em>needs</em></strong> to come. I cannot stand the thought of having to watch another season of Sheldon Keefe hockey, or the Guy Boucher Powerplay, or the Mike Van Ryn Man-on-Man defensive structure. I don't want to see a single familiar face behind the bench next season. I also don't want to see Samsonov between the pipes, he's too inconsistent and the lows are far too low with him.
It's also startling that the Leafs would ever consider trading Marner. This UFA crop is super weak and that money we'd be saving wouldn't be put to great use. Plus, it's Mitch Marner we are talking about. He's our 2nd best player and a crucial part of this team. You want to know why he doesn't show up in the playoffs? Because Keefes system is dog s***. That's the exact same reason why the other big guys also disappear in the playoffs.
All of this being said, we won't see changes this offseason. Keefe will be the headcoach next season, and the roster will probably be IDENTICAL, just without Bertuzzi and a new RHD.
This team could be so good but we are wasting our contention window by employing a bunch of bumbling idiots to run the show behind the bench. Our blueline contributes next to nothing offensively and also doesn't DEFEND. Sick of this same old song and dance.</div></div>
I think Keefe is a good coach, tbh, and we've seen the players underperform under two different coaches now so I don't think it's fair to put their shortcomings on his shoulders, but yeah he needs to go. It's just time.

Lol it was said earlier that we might as well ride this thread out until the end of the season (since it looks to be right around the corner) and then start the offseason one.

Toronto would pack his bags if they could get him the **** out and afford some depth, but he ain't approving a trade.</div></div>
They wouldn't be looking for depth with that money, they'd be searching all avenues to find a better, or at least comparable 2C.

Put the lines in a blender next game and hope for the best. Start Woll. We're due for a miracle.
Even if Matthews is back, I'd leave the BDM line together - seemed to create room for Marner and if anyone needs it, it's him.
Robertson - Matthews (if back) - Jarnkrok*
Bertuzzi - Domi - Marner
Knies - Tavares - Nylander*
Dewar/Holmberg - Kampf - Reaves
* Potentially swap

It's not that Liljegren is immoveable, it's just that the Leafs have a need for exactly what he is (R handed D, Puck moving D) , so for it to make sense to move him it's gotta be really worth their while, imo.

Dewar out, Robertson down to the 4th line and Brodie in for Lily. Not sure what the pairs are

2023-2024 NHL Discussion Thread #5: The Final Stretch
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CantStopWontStop</b></div><div>I’m kinda a weirdo:
I’m preferring Utah HC as the final name.
Maybe I’ve thought about so many names they all just kinda seem generic and lazy. Like what low grade theme park would name its newest ride. So why not be generic and lazy to the extreme, own it and do it well, go big or go home. Could refer to them as whatever people from Utah call themselves, or just Utah. (A Ute?, the Utes?) (I’ve recently lived thru the St. Louis MLS expansion and really like our branding there, local ownership enhances marketing opportunity and impact, impresses upon fans that advertising partners are “us”).
It would be fun if their mascot was a snake and it was a dude in a modified green inflatable flailing arms man costume, so for that I’m rooting for venom or poison or whatever. They could have a power play dance for the fans that looks absolutely stupid and ridiculous, making it amazing, where they all wiggle around like snakes.</div></div>
It's gotta be something around Bees. It's the beehive state, literally in their emblem. Utah Bees? Utah Yellow Jackets? Utah Swarm? Utah Buzz? Utah Bee-yonce's? Easy arena nickname - The Hive.
Is it just me or does seeing Utah this many times start to make the word look weird?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jded</b></div><div>I guess that’s the same thing to me in this instance. Why is Marner opting to sign an extension to be traded to ANA vs walking to FA where he’d have that same offer if not better from ANA, in addition to being able to explore every other team in the NHL (most of which aren’t a back-to-back bottom 3 team)? I see zero incentive for Marner.
Meanwhile ANA is going to take on an additional ~$6-7M cap to move the younger player and a 1st in a year where they hope to improve but aren’t actually going to be competing. While they have the cap space now, they will be in a much different position the next 2 years with all of Dostal, Mintyukov, Zellweger, McTavish, Carlsson, Gauthier, LaCombe, coming off of ELCs
I just don’t see why ANA or Marner would want this</div></div>
Can't speak for Marner, but Anaheim would be crazy to turn this down. They're getting the way, WAY better player for peanuts - a late 1st. It's really as simple as that if he's coming with an extension. They've got some GREAT pieces in place for the future, are about to draft another and they'd be <em>lucky</em> if even one became as good as Marner. He's still only about to turn 27. Would help them to take steps in the next few years and in years of their competitive window.
Worts case scenario they could turn around and trade him for more than this in 6 months cause the Leafs are getting jobbed.

The fact its stummping doctors be a bit of a concern.</div></div>
There wouldn't need to be an instance that caused it... He's dealt with migraines for quite some time now - that's why he switched to a tinted visor. It's concerning if it's gotten to a point that he's sitting out this time of year. It could be something very serious.

Like if its not a concussion and just a migraine im gonna be like so your telling me you just got a headache. But since its stumping even doctors I think the case aint as clear cut as people think</div></div>
Migraines are more complex than just a headache. If it was just mild and a headache, he'd be playing, but it's obviously very severe if he's sitting out and team doctors have tested for concussion.

You can do sign and trades or have extensions agreed upon, you just can't have conditional picks based on players re-signing.
