I think you'd need to up the price considerably. Tavares isn't a cap dump with 1 year left. He is still the captain afterall

That depends if you can handle him leaving again in the offseason and signing with Toronto

Uhh yes he is lol.

Toronto would pack his bags if they could get him the **** out and afford some depth, but he ain't approving a trade.

Idc what he does after this season lol, Kulich / Savoie if we keep him should be able to play 3C after next season. So in a sense, yes, he is a rental, but we absolutely need to make the playoffs ASAP

He wouldn't approve the trade, but I think this would be fair. I'd prefer a bit less retention but that's small stuff

If he hears how poorly fans talk about him he'll go hang out with his uncle in Buffalo for a year

They wouldn't be looking for depth with that money, they'd be searching all avenues to find a better, or at least comparable 2C.

I think there is zero chance either start the year with the Sabres. Sabres can't get younger, they are looking for a veteran 3C and need to keep them on the AHL for depth of a top 6 forward goes down.

That's why I traded for Tavares here? I don't want either of them to be the plan at 3C for this season. 2025-26 is a different story
