Why do you think coyotes would even move Crowse? Miller’s contract is toxic and Domi / Graves aren’t moving the needle - meh</div></div>
Agreed, no guarantee. I think this move would be condition on the Leafs already having the other trades in place, a sort of one day earthquake of moves. I think Arizona would move Crouse as they get draft picks back and they are not in contention of winning and getting Muzzin allows them to stay at the same Cap number, with real $$$ savings.

That is an interesting take. Why do you think the situation is different that the Mrazek trade?
I imagine the team would buy of Murray so a cap hit of 800,000 then 2 million so it will cost, but not a 1st alone. I would imagine there are a number of teams would be interested in getting another first round pick. I dont think SJS has many players to move that they can get decent picks for back (Karlsoon, Hertl...and maybe Coture if the retain). I see this is paying to help move forward on the rebuild.

A good question. Essentially it allows them to retool/reconfigure. The cap space and futures allows for a change and rebalancing of the roster. I feel this roster is stronger, faster, with more balanced goal scoring.
I wanted to see what it would look like this way.

Could do, I guess I feel there are a couple teams that could do that deal and so a team may be willing to add to it.
I removed the fifth but I think whether it is Ari, Ana, Chi, Det, or SJS, there are teams willing to eat Murray for the buyout cost to get a 1st in a good draft

I think if we move Mitch it has to be to a team that is in win now mode. To me that means a futures based package that we can use with cap space to aquire others. In essence it is trading Mitch + Liligren for Crouse, JT Miller, and the cap space to add Domi, Graves and have non-league min players on the 4th line.
The question is do we have to move him, which is a no. But it feels like running it back is not an option to my end and if we keep core 4 there are limited options.

A bit of an exaggeration in your statement but that is par for the course on here. I would imagine, like most of us are, you are not overly aware of other teams prospects and Niemla is a decent prospect coming back.
I have reworked it here to add in Minten instead of Robertson. I can get there would be hesitation on Robertson but if Phi is rebuilding then getting Minten is a solid add with Niemla.
Keep in mind TK only has 2 years left, so there is a risk if he does not resign.
I think this trade is tripling down on core players while adding some depth scoring.

Nylander had 16 more points this year than any player on Carolina. He had more goals and more assists than anyone as well. I get that he has one year left but so does Skjei. I think if leafs moved Nyalnder, it would be with an extension for the team aquiring him. In that case this would not be enough.
For a 40 goal 47 assist. In the playoffs, he had 10 points in 11 games, so it carried over.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lambo2565</b></div><div>1st for taking on Murray. Now what are you willing to pay for Schmaltz?</div></div>
Market was set when leafs only had to slide down a few spots to get rid of Mrazek. I figure leafs could flip their first and murray for a second.
In Arizona, he is bought out so Arizona saves $$. Plus Schmaltz AAV may be 5,850,000 but his cap hit the next three years is 7,500,000 then 8,450,000 and 8,500,000. I do not see Arizona wanting to pay that considering the lack of income coming into the team. Steeves would be a cheap depth piece for the team.
Perhaps losing the 4th would help with that but I am feeling the number of teams willing to take on contracts where salary is higher than AAV is low so TO would have some leverage.

10.1m for Konecky and Chychrun. Leafs are infinitely better having 1.4m Sandin, 8.8m in cap, Robertson, Niemela and two firsts.</div></div>
The main question, is are they better in the playoffs for the next two years. I like these moves as I feel for what they are paid, they are worth more than than contract values.

Two years after Meier Trade
I think overall this shows that while tight, and perhaps not the best allocation of resources, it is possible to trade and sign for Meier. Leafs would have a weaker bottom 6, but Dubas has showed an ability to get cheap players here and a desire to aquire top talent, so it is possible. But as some have said, not likely. I do think there is a good chance by this year several of the leafs players pan out and Dubas' drafts stare to pay dividends. It really makes you think how the Hunter drafts have not provided much of any depth outside of the first round.

Added in randome 'Depth' pieces that would help round out the team. No idea who is available but I think this shows Meier would be able to be added in without destroying our cap. Moving forward, having him with Willy, MM, and AM would allow for another top player as JT would start to decline.

I think Paul is a good comparable here for him. But either way, the leafs would be able to fit Meier onto the team and squeeze elsewhere. I am sure the Leafs could attract someone to join that top six and bring scoring/energy. Maybe Knies would be able to hit that spot

Agreed, it is possible he moves off at doesnt take that. If so, Leafs use the money on another player for that. The hope would be a hometown discount plus most of the money upfront for a signing bonus. The deal would take him to he is 35 so that is good security. Ilya's contract value was 19 and Buntings would be 24, though as you said less term.

Next Year after Meier Deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>kster34</b></div><div>It’s tempting- that top 6 would be legit the best in league. But too many downsides imo:
1/ No way to sign everyone in 2024 so most likely Willy walks.
2/ big, really big risk in net; I like kallgrenn and Woll but would rather they were backup in 24-25 (not 23-24 - too soon)
3/ d corps is just too thin; injuries bound to happen and if they did to anyone in top 4, we’d be badly exposed
4/ bottom 6 is just too thin (we need to keep Kampf); injury to top 6 and we’d be in trouble</div></div>
1- It would be tight
2- Yes, but at some point we need to give a player a chance
3- This year we are seeing them do fine.
4- Yup, fingers crossed Knies is a contributor and Holmberg takes a step. I figure Kampf will price himself out of Toronto
The question is does the payoff of the top six make it worth it. I think the chance to add a player of Meier and add to our team is worth it.

Depends. Dubas clearly likes to be top heavy so if we keep getting cheap production from picks/finds it is possible.

Yes, would lose on of them. I think they could extend Bunting at a low number over 8 years and load with signing bonuses.
I feel that if the cap is going to go up, trying to get Meier, Matthews, Marner, Nylander on long term deals now will be hard for next year and year after, but will pay off as cap rises.

And I cant see all 3 of your RFAs taking bridge contracts, especially because theres no space in a year or 2 years for them to get paid. (Not only were liljegren and sandin unhappy with the multiple demotions to the Marlies, not only is this Engvalls big payday, but everybody (agents) have seen the last Leaf players who took team friendly bridge deals, they were dealt)
All in all, Leafs (and their fans) have got to find a way to improve the club WITHOUT proposing to underpay all of their RFAs and UFAs or trying to snag a big money UFA.</div></div>
Upped him to 5.5 and six years. Do you think that would do it?
Also upped Sandin and Liligren but I do not seem them hitting two million. Dermott never got that high on a bridge deal.
Plus in two years Muzzin and Brodie are up so there is the money to resign them if they play up to their potential.

Miller for Nylander
As a leafs fan, I would love to get Miller. Him for Nylander 1for1 is interesting.
Miller had 19 more points than Nylander this year and is paid about a million and a half less than Nylander.
Yet, Nylander has one more year on his contract and will probably be paid around 7.5-8.5 on his next deal. Miller would likely get around that as well if he replicates it.
Not sure if those extra 18 points is equal to the value of a first and third, along with our top D prospect comes from. If anything, the extra savings from Miller and increased production for one year is about as valuable as the cost certainty on Nylander for two years.
For that return, I would want to see someone like Hoglander included going back to the leafs.
