Sure, Carlson is great offensively. But that’s all he is.

Spurgeon finished in the top 10 in his own right for the Norris this past year, and yet is superb defensively as well. He frankly was more valuable than Carlson this past year by a decent margin too. He was worth 4.1 GSVA to Carlson's 3.0. All at a cheaper cap hit, while being worth more in market value. So again, his value is decidedly higher than Carlson's.

So tell me how or why Minnesota should consider this, let alone ADD to this trade?

Spurgeon is a -19 in playoff career including -6 this year. First round exits are getting old with a 5'9 defensemen who cant hold his own when size and strength becomes important.

But if you want a great regular season defensemen. I agree keep Spurgeon
