They traded Durzi because he is up for arbitration at the end of 2024 and they would not be able to afford him. Rutta brings something different and is locked in at a same price for the next two years. Kaliyev has also been stuck in the bottom-6 in LA and needs more of a shot imo.

Big Chicago trade
Unless Kane is in the deal, I don't see the value of giving up a 1st round pick to Chicago.

If the Leafs were open to giving up these assets, they could likely get a better package from another team.

Meier Lafferty Schenn
I don't really understand why the Leafs would trade for Schenn. Wouldn't Benn bring the same physicality without giving up assets? They also have enough defenceman that can play bottom minutes, do they really need one more to move the needle?

Anything is possible, but historically Don Waddell does not make a big splash on the trade deadline.

It was reported that the ask for Toews is a 2nd or 3rd round pick.
A first and a top prospect will not happen.

If I am Arizona, I take this deal. That being said, would NYR make a trade where they give up that much for a defenceman you have slotted into the bottom pairing?

TDL Moves
I think the value to get Laughton appears to be fair, based on values from past NHL deadlines. Is he really want the Leafs need for the second line? Many experts feel they need someone who drives offensive play. I think Laughton is a good player and adds a physicality that many fans want the Leafs to continue to add for the playoffs, but he does not help with top-6 scoring.
Same with O'Reilly. I find it interesting that the MSM have information leaked about ROR to Toronto. My gut is that STL leaked this information intentionally as the MSM are always looking for news related to the Leafs. Their hope would be that this drives up the talk and price on ROR. I don't think the Leafs are interested.

Leafs Trade Deadline 2
I can see why fans want a player like Crouse. He is physical and can hopefully bring that x-factor during the playoffs. That being said, a 1st round pick seems like an awfully steep price to pay for someone that will have a limited offensive contribution.
I agree with some other posts that players like Kallgren and Engvall won't move the needle in a trade, but SJS will definitely want that kind of a value (multiple early picks and a top prospect).

Trade Deadline
I don't watch a lot of Canucks hockey, but a 1st and a top prospect seems like a high price to pay for Kuzmenko. You could probably use the same assets for a player that is less risky.

I agree with the last comment. This seems like a low time to be trading Strome. The new coaching staff are trusting Strome more, and the team should hold onto him to see if they can help him develop his game. I don't see them trading him unless the deal is multiple mid-round picks (2nds, 3rds).

Hextall needs to make this happen
Upon first glance, this does not seem like enough.
1. Last year, the price for Sam Bennett was a 2nd and a prospect. The price for Mattias Janmark was a 2nd and a 3rd. This makes me think that the price for both Radulov AND Gurianov (including retained salary) may be more than two supporting players and a 2nd round pick. Jason Zucker's value is lower than it has ever been. Kapanen has flashes of greatness, but he is a supporting piece. If I was Dallas, I wouldn't trade both of them together, unless I received a 1st round pick.
2. I also can't imagine that Dallas are selling two forwards when they are tied in points for the 2nd wildcard spot. Unless the next two weeks are disastrous, I don't see them selling in such a significant way.

I have a hard time seeing the RW trade Nick Leddy (with retained salary) for a middling prospect when they valued him at Panik and 2nd round pick when they got him last year.

I like the ideas of the ANA and SEA trades. I think both players are good fits and that the price seems suitable. I feel like Reilly Smith is so underrated and should go for more than that.

I like Chiarot as an option. I imagine his value is close to that.
Giroux seems like a good fit on a team pushing for a deep run this year.

If Dallas is becomes sellers, this is a home run for them. Is this the best that Colorado can get for all of that?
I wonder if Drouin is reconnected with his Remparts linemate MacKinnon in some cheaper deal.
