I think I’m just in love with the thought of Bertuzzi in the CBus system. I agree they’ll want a proven centre, I just don’t know if they’re going to be able to find one.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SGL</b></div><div>Y would do it to get two more first round picks. Mantha worth more than two firsts? I hope you're joking. But if you're not, Mantha is looking for $6m+ and has yet to eclipse the 50-point plateau. In no way, shape, or form should Y be handing out that type of money at this point in a rebuild, especially if you're realistic and understand that you'd have to resign Mantha to another contract before your team is in a position to contend again. For Vegas, they would be getting Mantha as a final piece to a Cup run, while also having Cap space freed up for a potential acquisition at next season's trade deadline. For Y, he'd be getting two firsts for taking on an expiring contract in Stastny and also have a bridge quality goaltender with Stanley Cup-pedigree while awaiting Askarov and Larsson. Then, at next season's deadline, if Fleury or Stastny garner interest, you can flip them for even more draft capital. The move has nothing to do with Fleury or Stastny in the sense of thinking they're part of a rebuild, but it's with the vision of adding as many darts as possible to expedite the rebuild and using our cap space as a weapon while we can.</div></div>
Reporters are saying that teams are asking for a 1st plus a 2nd and Vegas must retain 33% of Fleurys salary for a cap dump. I’m sure Statsny ask would probably be a 1st as well. Mantha is also a lot more valuable then your giving him credit for. He’s a 6’5 pure goal scorer who is only 26. He hasn’t been able to stay healthy, but I really don’t see the Wings giving up on him in a rebuild unless they get a kings ransom. Not to mention if you don’t think the Wings will pay him what he wants with having a plethora of cap space, what makes you think Vegas would?
I don’t see this trade happening with Mantha being involved. Vegas is going to have to give up a lot to get out of those 2 contracts, and I don’t see them getting any assets back.

Phase 1
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>reelkena</b></div><div>I don't disagree with any of that, but the note I would add is it's only one year of Sven's contract and he would actually play on that team allowing them to fill holes for cheaper than UFA's. Which as a temp deal plays into what you are saying about them being more than a few years out. This is the year they can be a mini Seattle and take contracts for free as long as it doesn't hurt them when they want to actually move up. Most bad contracts in the NHL are more than 1 or 2 years so they can't really take them. Sven is not in that bracket.</div></div>
Yeah I get that. It definitely wouldn’t be a negative deal for Detroit. I guess all I mean is that if I were Yzerman I would be putting a lot more pressure on to see how badly Van wants to sign their FAs. Stretcher would definitely help more than hurt though.

Phase 1
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HabsFan9</b></div><div>Virtanen and Stecher aren’t assets? Any decent NHL players on good contracts are considered assets. They’e definitely good enough for a frickn SEVENTH round pick</div></div>
I see this from the Florida side. But for the Wings I don’t think they would do it unless the asset attached is a futures asset (prospect/picks). Although Stetcher is better than a lot of their defenseman right now, I don’t think they would use him as an asset to take on a bad contract in the COVID world where real dollars matter more than ever, especially since he’s not going to move the needle on the worst team in the NHL. IMO he would be long gone by the time the wings are relevant again. Long story short, my opinion is that Detroit doesn’t take on a bad contract unless the asset attached is something that will help them 3-5 years down the road, where stetcher is more of a short term fix. I do agree he is a valuable asset on most teams, but not as valuable to Detroit because they are so far away from being relevant.

Boeser Domi
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>reelkena</b></div><div>I have this guy blocked But I just wanna say, I hate him. I hate him so much for making me look at this garbage. It still shows peoples trades and seeing those two names next to each other insults Brock and insults the Canucks.</div></div>
This seems a bit excessive... I agree I wouldn’t do this if I were Vancouver but don’t really think it’s that far off. Boeser is more valuable as a goal scorer but Domi is still a solid, reliable player who has shown the ability to play every forward position, which holds a lot of value. I think if you add in a decent prospect or solid draft pick it could make sense, especially if Van sees Domi as a centre.
