the equivalent is fine. I doubt Tanev is moved though and I don't see why Nemec can't or wouldn't make the team out of camp

Tampa Bay would have to consider this - even without Bahl! Yegor for a $1m cap hit and 3 veteran NHL guys for less cap hit than 3 ELC's. This would seem to be right in Tampa's sweet spot. I think the OP may have done it!!

Really lovely additions. Having Toews in there would be fantastic but quite tough to say if he plans to keep playing...

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MartysBetter29</b></div><div>There have been a few reports that NJ are actively working on shopping Wood, Graves, Blackwood UFA rights. So if Lou has interest in the player(s) he might feel incentivized to grab them before someone else does, in which case they wouldnt hit market.
Might be some nifty rumor churning by the Devils to generate interest. I honestly do think Wood and Graves get moved for very low returns. Blackwood probably gets non-tendered if I was guessing.</div></div>
I’m assuming if Wood gets dealt it will be for a conditional 7th or a minor leaguer who is waiver exempt status.

We would lose Nolan Foote (and maybe Tyce Thompson) to waivers.

Keep Severson- Re evaluate 2024 Year 1
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MartysBetter29</b></div><div>Good for him honestly. Now that he’s officially gone, it will be interesting to see the Devils plan. Do they get a vet to play for this year? Do they trust Nemec enough to have him and Hughes both in the lineup? We will see.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>I don't know how you can keep Nemec in the AHL. Hamilton, Marino, and Nemec....that looks amazingly strong not the right side.</div></div>
In my mind the best idea is to just keep Nemec in the A as to slide his ELC for one more year.
Huge difference to pay Nemec 900k instead of 8-9m in the 26-27 when the Devils are right in the middle of their window of contention.
I'd go with Walsh as 3RHD for 23-24. He'll be 24 in October and has been fantastic in the Utica for a good while now. Walsh has earned the right to try and hold a spot in the NHL lineup down.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MartysBetter29</b></div><div>Personally I feel like his market value is around 6M especially as this years top FA. NJ can offer him the extra year and maybe bring the salary down a bit. Honestly, in what is soon to be a $88M+ cap, I feel like Sevo at 5.5 or under is not bad value. Just my opinion though.</div></div>
I just returned home, without internet for four days. Gee, see that Severson has signed for eight years at 6.25m. I dunno, eight years starting at age 29. Don't think Severson could have done any better in UFA at seven years. Certainly the Devils have solidified their Dmen of years to come.

I don't disagree at all. He's actually one player I would like them to target, for a third lol.

Which as dumb as it sounds seems to sometimes be the way NHL GMs operate. Doubt Detroit makes all of those first and second round picks.</div></div>
Nothing wrong with trying to squeeze a little extra value out.
I am not sure what we do. We either move up or select all those players. We have some good prospects but we don't have any great ones other than our main couple. I think the idea will be to try and find another Hintz or Robertson with those second rounders. Quite a few of these mid round picks have been looking pretty good for us but you can never have too much of a good thing.

Did Yegor play primarily a 3rd line role this past season? His ice time indicates he did.

Yegor put up pretty decent numbers in 3rd line minutes, honestly itd be a pretty good swap for the Jets if they're looking to retool and get younger.

Good call on Foote. Was tinkering with putting him in anyways. Fine with him as a bottom line LW.</div></div>
He was excellent on PK this year in Utica. His game has really evolved. And hearing how Fitzy talked about him at his end-of-season media availability, it sounds like he is going to slide into Wood’s old spot.

Could probably level up from Kulikov.
Also, Foote has no more waiver exemptions, so he is probably your 23rd guy.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MartysBetter29</b></div><div>Definitely agree regarding Hughes and Walsh (or Nemec). In a perfect world we would have Sevo here for the next 2-3 years to bridge the gap perfectly. Unfortunately he is borderline the top FA this summer so that’s not gonna happen. We will have to make due with an imperfect situation and see what Reilly can bring.
Any ideas for a cheap vet to bring in and push? Either via free agency or a cheap trade option?</div></div>
Anyone but Gudas or Schenn.
Ideally someone who fits in our system.
Justin Schultz maybe (got 1-year, $3m with SEA). Would be like Severson-lite. Has cup experience with Pens. Well liked guy.

Yes, yes, yes
Agree with Nemec in Utica for 2023-24
Agree with giving Walsh the chance
Agree with bringing a cheap vet to compete
Only thing is would want to avoid a Hughes/Walsh pairing too often. Match rookies with vets.

I would do this honestly. Nino was the guy I wanted after Johnny went to CBJ (though reflecting I’d def rather have Palat) so it would be nice to see him fit into a middle 6 role here.
