Do they? Well over the cap… haven’t been able to get an extension done with Nylander… and long been tied in rumors to Gibson. If they wanna make a legit run at the cup not a single goalie on the leafs roster is gonna lead that path.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jangle29</b></div><div>Lol I think gibs not only said he doesn't want to play in TO, they don't want him because he's a salary anchor now</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GeneralLandro</b></div><div>Gibson has already said no publicly to a Toronto trade</div></div>

Gibson said that when he was “committed to the rebuild in Anaheim.” After a year of the leagues worst D… a chance to make a run with a pretty loaded Leafs team might be enough to change that perspective.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Welcome back after your long hiatus.

I don't think that the internal economic structure of the team includes a desire to pay John Gibson $11.4 million not to play for us.

Terry gets more (probably in money and almost certainly in term) than that and Drysdale and Dostal, who after all haven't had the chance to prove much, get less of both.</div></div>

Thanks for the warm welcome back. Chilling in the hospital after my son was born. Passing time while he and the wife sleep.

While paying him to not pay for us instead ideal… I agree… it’s a means to an end. I wouldn’t be shocked if you’re right in the Terry contract as well as the Dostal.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mytduxfan</b></div><div>The Nash trade is simply terrible. I’ve made my thoughts clear on it in the original proposal thread, but, regardless of your feelings about Ritchie, I’m seriously shocked that Duck fans think that’s a good deal. Just an horrendous overpay for an aging under-performer.

The Hjalmarsson deal doesn’t have enough value for ARI IMO. Would love to add him regardless of whether we make the playoffs or not. He’d solidify our top 4 for now, get Bieksa bumped from the line-up, and provide a veteran persence next season. Probably needs Roy added to the deal instead of Grant, but I’d do that deal.

The line combinations are all over the place. I mean, Rakell at RW? Wagner at C when you have Vermette in the 3LW position? Kase on the 4th line. Just all kinds of wrong.</div></div>

So first of all... I honestly think Nash improves this team. He can score. Is he Rick Nash of Columbus and al of that success? No. He is a pending UFA rental. Very little risk on the salary since it’s expiring. Plain and simple Nick Ritchie isn’t working. He was supposedly going to fill the roll of Maroon but it doesn’t seem to work. He has flashes but honestly is stale here. Fresh start needed. Is he the only guy out there that I’d look at? No. But I think he is a quality option, a vet who knows how to come in and work. Plus there is some history there. Getzlaf and Nash have played on the same line together for Canada and have good chemistry. Could add a great punch. And if you’re going to consider the idea that we are loading up for a cup run (which would be the only reason to be a buyer at this point for the ducks), then you gotta look at it as trading a low second round pick and a young player that just hasn’t worked out.

As for the lines Rakell has played on both wings and C. One of the things the ducks liked about him originally is he versatility. Even CF has him listed a C,RW. But Nash can play both sides so feel free to switch them if that makes you feel more comfortable. The Second line is what it is. I like Vermette on the wing. He has played there multiple times this season including on the left side of Getz with Rakell on the right (see previous statement on Rakells versatility) and Perry has had good chemistry with both Rico and Vermette. As for Kase, again he has played up and down the lines. Realistically I you bring in a winger someone is getting moved around. And moreover as far as the wingers... RC likes to shuffle them around. This why Silfy has been all over, Rakell has played both sides, Perry has been on the first line, fourth line and everywhere in between. Wags has been on the wing and at center as has vermette.

I stand by the trades and would be over the moon to see what that team can do.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Christian17</b></div><div>The d pairing are great, Franson is a huge upgrade on BIeksa as he can actually get zone exits, he isn't fast but he can handle the puck which makes up for it.
Franson's stay-at-home style and proficiency at that position (which Bieksa lacks) will allow Fowler to actually perform to the level he's able to, because he won't have to cover all the mistakes Bieksa makes.
Hjalmarsson has a similar effect with Montour, Hjalmarsson is an amazing stay-at-home dman on a good team (Arizona has made him look real bad) and has the experience to teach Montour how to defend well, while allowing him to push his offensive game.

Hjalmarsson was traded for a 6th dman and an AHL goalie as a 2nd pairing dman on Chicago. Now he's playing on the third pair in Arizona with little to know production, his trade value is at an all time low. Ritchie still has perceived value around the league and a team like Arizona is desperate to trade for a low risk high reward player like Ritchie. Anaheim needs someone to sure up their bottom pairings and Hjalmarsson does just that. I think these trades are good for everyone involved.</div></div>

I agree whole heartedly on Hjalmarson. I think he frees up Fowler Personally as I see him as a second pairing D. Personally I think it’s time to move on from Ritchie. He has talent. It’s visible, scouts have seen it, but I think he has gotten stale here. I think a fresh start is exactly what he needs.

As for Franson... I don’t hate it. I’d rather persue a scoring winger than a mother D. I think Franson is an upgrade for us but I also think if you keep Beauch and Bieksa fresh and rotating with time off... you will see better play. Beauch isn’t what he was last time he was here... but I still think he can play bottom pair mins. Same with Bieksa. I know the fans love to hate on him, but realistically the guy has shown moments of respectability. I especially like them if we can give them time to stay fresh.

Overall I like the move for Hjalmarson but I think we need another forward. Especially if we move out Ritchie. I’m not a diehard member of the Kevin Roy fan club though.
